"In the childhood of people who later became dictators, I have always found a

nightmarish horror, a record of continued lies and humiliations, which, upon the
attainment of adulthood, impelled them to acts of merciless revenge on society."

(Living Under Communists)

"Perfect" Idea Realized

By Maya
I freely admit that I'm in a quandary as where to start, it is rather overwhelming
for me just to go through all of it, my nerves reacting... All right, I realize
that I shall use specific terminology that might not be understood exactly by
some, so I better explain that first.
Socialism is actually to put it simply, "soft" communism. In reality it is
transition between capitalism and communism, that being as an ultimate goal.
However, there never was real communism realized in the world and never will be,
as you'll later on discover why...
All countries that were called "communist countries" were actually socialist
countries with a government whose members were members of communist party. And all
without exception had same basis in common. They were totalitarian and atheistic
regimes. How all worked, I'll explain later, most likely in a next issue, subject
being rather involving.
Communism itself is an idea. In its depth and in specific, particular sense it
could be even desirable for realization when presented to certain segment of
population, but in reality it is an utopia and so far there wasn't a human being
on this earth born to conform with it. I trust you all know meaning of this
expression, but it would be a good idea to use dictionary description of utopia
for our purpose. "An imagine place or state of things where everything is
perfect." Now, when you think about it you must admit that nothing in this world
is perfect, least of all people. However, communism was presented to people as a
perfect (ideal) achievement for them, ideal regime that would be dream come true
for all nations on earth sometime down the road, IF they would follow the rules,
conform to them and eventually reach certain state of mind. They should in a way
"grow" into it. It was supposed to take its time, so people must work diligently
at it and trust the government that would provide leadership, security, knowledge,
(brain-washing would be good term here) care and all the rest necessary to
accomplish that. So, with that in mind lets look at this whole thing from various
angles:
1. Who would believe such a promise? Certainly not independent, educated,
informed, open-minded, ambitious, sensible and freedom loving people.
2. The "bulk" (base) must be made out of different structure; desperate people.
poor people, preferably poorly or uneducated, such who prefer to depend somehow
on some leader in their lives, people who are willing to trust anything that
sounds good to them and not think or admit that that something could be just a
lie, deceit and false promise, stemming from desire for POWER. Desire to conquer
nation, bend it, make it dependent, limit its rights, freedom, make it accept all
that government shall provide and how it shall provide and then it would stay
nicely, obediently together like a sheep with its shepherd. So this would be an
ideal for success of the purpose, this second, trusting group. Although the
disillusionment shall be realized soon, but, not Too soon. They will be already
in, trapped for good. Because by now government governs and owns it all. Army,
police, economy, every single media...ALL!!!
Now, those in a first group would always be sheep who tend to stray from the
heard, they let their unsatisfied voices and criticism to be heard, they would
teach, write. speak... but, no problem with such a pests, those would be simply
silenced/removed... those "unfit" troublemakers, right-wing fans of imperialism
and capitalism, the bad ones. So, some were imprisoned, some done with for good,
some broken with promise of better life, position, etc... so they accepted
shackles to salvage their families and often their own lives. You certainly, even
without addressing it so far, realize that there wasn't place left for individual,
for talent, creativity, simply any achievement of individual... and please,
totally forget any notion about creating your own business or such a nonsense,
that would be really great joke. So those who accepted the rules are under
control now too, must become members of the party and publicly work for its
welfare, so privileges could be extended or else. Artists at those times, who
"belonged," were very busy "creating"... requirement was: Portraits and
Sculptures. They must spread great glory of great "fathers" and propagandists of
communism like Marx, Engels, Lenin, Stalin...
So here is the manual how to conquer nations...How idea of K.Marx and B. Engels
was taken and not just used but horribly misused by those insanely hungry for
power. And that socialists and communists love and there is no obstacle big enough
to reach it...as history itself recorded and now presents...
"The object of power is power."
George Orwell
It happened in 1917 after Russian revolution called "Great October Revolution."
(Event was shown in film Dr. Zhivago, obviously adjusted to film script.) People
were so poor and lived under unspeakable inhuman conditions, depression, hunger
and exploitation under czars for endless ages and now this revolution happened and
all hopes risen and look... all of the sudden there was a "leader." Promising all
the above I mentioned, the change, food, work, freedom, security, all different,
all better then they had living under czars. Lenin was good at that, great speaker
and writer he was... (real name Vladimir Uljanov... I trust he really believed in
all he "preached," after all there wasn't any history to turn to for lesson,
yet...So people trusted, what else? They had HOPE! I don't have to continue how
all that ended. Or do I? But, that great leader turned out to be Stalin (real
name Grigori Dzugashvili, who usurped power although having criminal record longer
then arm and non-existent conscience) it was he, who
destroyed/murdered/starved...you name it... on estimate about 20 million of his
own people. He let Ukraine to starve, (although grain was available to feed people
because Ukraine is huge grain grower) endless millions, corpses were collected
from fields, streets, houses like a garbage...There are documented events showing
major "communists achievements" of those times, for example major constructions
like dams, etc...where on one such a building site worked 100 thousands workers at
the beginning and 2 years later, after completion there were just same amount of
workers, which might seem just right to you...except the inhumanly working
conditions and life there were in such a horrifying state that every day about
100 people perished! there and were replaced with "fresh blood!" Now do you math!
He was unmerciful monster, just reading his biography is a horror, how shockingly
he treated his own son is simply heartbreaking...power insane, conceited
individual with sky-high ego. It was well known he was extremely jealous of Lenin
and later efficiently "took care" of the matter...His portraits and statues were
everywhere, obviously also in every socialist country behind "iron curtain."
where his glory must be celebrated, because his power reached that far.
"The greater the power, the more dangerous the abuse."
Edmund Burke
In every school room, office, all public places inside and out he "adorned" walls.
From my studies of history and other acquired knowledge I can say that Russia is a
nation destined to extreme suffering. They survived so much that it is
unspeakable, unimaginable... From czars, to bloody revolutions, to wars, to Stalin
and continuously living under communists, just loosing millions and millions to
horrors. Russians are extremely heroic nation, but as I say, always suffering,
always deprived, always under heavy foot. They didn't have privilege to meet
freedom, they are not used to freedom...
But still they are the greatest singers, I mentioned this and their heroism in
some of my articles (videos included). Their war songs leading them forward to
fight Hitler's aggression are superb and powerful. One leading, "The Holy War"
(also translated as Sacred War) gives me shivers every time, absolutely must hear.
I always cry when hearing saddest Ukrainian songs about their orphans. Melodies
are haunting, like those dead parents would be calling from their common graves.
So people always remember, this can't be, mustn't be forgotten, ever. It is said
that history repeat itself and there are always those hungry for power. Russians
remember those lost and even youngest generation and their songs are always here
to be sang. Here is one song for you in 2 separate recordings, my translation
included. Yes I am very emotional about this. I abhor so much suffering. I abhor
such an atrocities committed. And besides war, all that I just described has been
happening under the great, perfect, idea of communism...
When "perfect" idea had been realized with not so "perfect" ending...
Every single one of those horrifying events left behind besides devastation also
millions of orphans. They had specific name for them (bezprizornyj...meaning as
without supervision) Situation was really catastrophic. Children from youngest
ages to teenage years were destitute, left to fend for themselves, dying from
hunger and exposure all over the land. Eventually some were rescued and given
chance and grew up in good citizens, but some were beyond "repair" and rest simply
perished. I actually posted song about those times when thieving was the only way
to survive. Listen to it, it is superb and there is another piece of history I
described, very fresh, by the way... Well, I leave it here for now, although I
could write till dawn and another dawn and another...

I took time to describe some of key points of this particular segment of history,
because it is important to know this. It is touching our times to close for
comfort. Well educated nation would know better how and whom to choose as a leader
and avoid possibility to become enslaved by power hungry individuals who
themselves do not know history and those who do, could learn well how to...and
NEVER allow only one party to govern, especially with socialist agenda.
IF Russia's leader were another individual, perhaps more decent, more human, ALL
could have been at different and not just in Russia but in the world itself.

I visited Russia many times, first time at age of 11. My mother was Russian so
there was family there and I was able to see villages, places where tourist were
not allowed. Yes, as a tourist you couldn't just "browse" around. They couldn't
afford to bring shocks on visitors. And there always was lack of everything, even
basics. Living spaces were so limited that people in cities lived
squeezed...sometimes even 4 unrelated families in one single apartment...walls
divided with sheets hanging on lines, sharing kitchen and bathroom. But more about
people's life later, when I delve into economy... Get ready...
I had to provide you with peaking into "Glorious beginning" and "not that Glorious
ending" (not there yet) of the first socialistic movement, so my future writing is
more understandable without making too many "side" notes. Why such and such was
happening in so many Eastern European countries later, after WW2, how destiny of
my own country fell into this category and how events started the mills, next
time...perhaps under header "Toilet paper lines?" part 3
