Judge Sentences Bethel Teacher Accused Of Having Sex With Student

A judge has sentenced a former high school teacher who is accused of having sex with a 16-yearold male student.
Wendy Hickman had just started her third year teaching English at Bethel High School back in
2012. Pottawatomie County Sheriff's deputies arrested the 40 year old after a 16-year-old
student and his mother filed a police report.

Hickman was originally charged with second degree rape, forcible sodomy
and soliciting sexual conduct with a minor using a cell phone. Back in
March, Hickman struck a plea deal, pleading guilty to the second and third
count, and prosecutors dropped the rape charge.

a 10-year suspended sentence on the soliciting count.

Hickman will have to pay fines and court costs, and will have to serve 200 hours of community
service.
The judge also ordered her to attend sex offender treatment for two years and write an apology
letter.

Lol I know plenty of 16 year old boys and I know for a fact not one of them would
turn getting some down! I have 17 year old guys in my own class that will get it just
because they can! And there are enough girls in my school that Would give it up to
ANYBODY, 40 or 16! Sorry guys, this is how the world is these days. Granted, she
knew better. .But SERIOUSLY?! HOW DO YOU RAPE A 16 YEAR OLD MALE?!
THAT'S ALL THEY THINK ABOUT! Oh what, did she force him to get an erection?
Like Greg Hopkins said, mommy found out about it and got mad, like any mother
would I'm sure. . But you also have to think that that boy AND his mother had a part
in this too!

I agree.......16 year old boys are a raging mass of hormones........I know I
was......come to think of it I still am.........what i'm sayin is I ain't met a
whole lot of males that object to sex.....lol

She may have been an adult, but the legal sex age in Oklahoma is 16. That's more
than likely the reason why the rape charge got dropped.

I'm just saying...the kid was 16, he can decide who he wants to have sex with and
who he doesn't, or at least I could when I was 16..so maybe its not all her fault. She
shouldn't have done it either but she's not the only one to blame

This judge needs to be held accountable for this miscarriage of justice. She should
serve at least a 5yr min. A male teacher would get 5-15 yrs for the same. What a
joke this system is.

oh give me a break people. Forcable sodomy on a 16 year old young man. Please,
he got his first piece busted because he couldn't quit bragging about it and mom
found out. I call a case of Boys will be Boys. What did she do, hold a gun to his

same thing if it was a male teacher with a female student? I'm so sick of

Girls can be "forced" into sodomy or raped because of physical

strength. No 16 year old male is going to be "forced" to rape a woman.
