1. Provide a description of sensation and perception then explain how these are related.
A gas leak is a good example of sensation and perception. A person smells the gas and sends a
sensation signal to the brain. The person then can perceives the danger by the sensation of the smell and
the perception of danger is their. Sensation refers to the process of sensing our environment through
touch, taste, sight, sound, and smell. Perception is the way we interpret these sensations and therefore
make sense of everything around us. The brain organizes the information and translates it into something
meaningful. Relationships between people are another good example. Your counterpart may flirt with you
by giving you flowers. The smell of the roses,the touch and sight of the other person. The brain perceives
this as a loving and meaningful act.
