ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

First of all we express our heart full thanks to GOD ALMIGHTY for
everything without which we are nothing in this world.
We are very

much

grateful

to our chairman, THIRU. PON ROBERT

SINGH M.A., for providing all facilities for doing our project successfully.
We extend our sincere and whole hearted thanks to our principal

Dr.

K. MANIYSUNDAR M.Sc., Ph.D. (IISc)., for giving more ideas to do the project in
a proper way.
We

are

very

much

thankful

to

our

Director

Prof. S. ARULSON DANIEL M.Sc., M.Phil., Who has been a constant source of
inspiration of the project.
We express our deep gratitude to Dr. P. M. DIAZ M.E., Ph.D., Head and
Professor in Mechanical Engineering who has provided decision, resources and
giving vital moral support at each step of our way.
We

also thank to our project coordinator Mr. P. SAMSON PAUL M.E.,

Assistant professor in Mechanical Engineering for his

involvement in

Developing our project, Who masterly guided this project.

We are greatly indebted to Mr. S. THANA BALAN, M.E., Assistant
Professor of mechanical Engineering, who masterfully guided this project and
incredibly talented in crafting our rough draft into published works and providing
fresh ideas, sound advice, vitality, wisdom and constant enthusiasm.
We are also deeply thankful to the teaching & non-teaching staffs whose
presence was a source of courage and support.

ABSTRACT
The electric bikes do not require any fossils fuel to work so it is environment
friendly vehicle. The electric bikes lacks in power because they lack in initial
starting torque. So if the electric bike is provided with gears for variation torque, it
would overcome the problems in existing electric bikes. Electric motors have a
linear speed torque characteristics than that of internal combustion engines. So it
can be used in vehicles. The speed of the motor is controlled by the speed
controller. The motor is connected with the four speed gear box using gear and in
the gearbox. By using the wind generator is given to the additional power supply to
the motor, so we can increase the duration of battery.

The electric bike offers a

cleaner alternative to travel short-to-moderate distances rather than driving a

gasoline-powered car. In recent years, the price of crude oil has increased
significantly over the past few years and there seems to be no turning back. The
ii

environment has also been more of a focus throughout the world in the past few
years, and it seems that cleaner alternatives have been steadily on the rise with no
end in sight. The electric bike is a project that can promote both cleaner technology
as well as a lesser dependence on oil. The greater importance of the environment in
the world leads to an opportunity for students in our position.
