Select an organization of your choice and describe the following functions in detail
with respect to the ware house or Inventory of the same .

Ware house Location & layout.


Ware house operations
Packaging & Distribution management.
Ware house safety & ergonomics
Inventory control techniques.
Documentation process for the same .

This course will carry 100 marks and will have the following assessment
components. Final Grades will be based on the relative performance of a student in
the class.

Study Report Guidelines


The Formal report is the outcome of detailed investigation of the problem
undertaken by the student. Students are supposed to prepare a written report. The
report should be written in students own words.
1.
Students are required to submit one spiral bound copy of the report latest by
10th April.
2.
The submission will be followed by a viva-voce before the Course Lecturer;
the date for the same will be notified shortly through programme office .
3.
All the students are required to follow the instructions summarized below for
report writing:
a.
The cover page of the Study Report should be in accordance to the format
prescribed in Annexure-I.
b.
The size of the report would depend on the study undertaken. The typed
pages of the report should be on A4 size paper with 2.0 line spacing. All the
students are required to use the Times New Roman of font size 12 (except in
heading and subheadings) throughout the text of the report.

c.
Not a single sentence should be copied from the original source, unless it is
being quoted with due acknowledgement. Giving a list of references does not entitle
student to copy sentences from the sources. All exhibits/tables/diagrams etc., taken
directly from other sources must be acknowledged.
d.
In case of any verbatim or narratives, enclose them in quotes with full
references.

Report Structure
In general final project report should comprise of the following components:-

Cover page

Certificate from Faculty Guide along with declaration of student.

Acknowledgement

Table of Contents

List of Tables (if any)/flow charts

List of Figures & Graphs ( To support the facts)

Following chapters should be included after the above components:


Chapter I
Introduction to the selected Organization will include a brief history
about the same.
Chapter II Rationale for choosing the organization: This chapter should explain why
you choose that particular group/organization.
Chapter III Identification of warehouse functions and sub-functions or identify the
methods to control the Inventory in context of the chosen organization..
Chapter V Methodology: This chapter will elaborate which specific
are using to manage the warehouse or inventory.

Chapter VI Identification and elaboration of both value added and non-value added
processes which can further improve the efficiency of that industry or where else
they can be incorporated to improve the operations.
Chapter VII Recommendation and Conclusion
Appendix/ Annexure (According to Reference Work)
This section will include sighting of any specific literature /case /book chapter/model
which student followed during his GIS completion.
The report will be evaluated based on the following parameters:

Selection of an organization (10 Marks):


Understanding and elaboration of warehouse functions or inventory management
methods in context of the organization (20 Marks)
Identification of critical /new processes and there explanation. (15 marks)
Overall Content (15 Marks)
The style and accuracy of the report. Depth and degree of coherence/progression of
work. Effectiveness of abstract and introduction. General syntax and writing style
and Typography.
Late submissions will be penalized as per the following schedule.
Submission Date +1 day = 5 marks deduction from the entire marks
Submission Date +2 days= 10 marks deduction from the entire marks
Submission Date +3 days = zero marks award
