UNDERSTANDING TRILATERAL COVENANTS

Note: much of this fresh revelation on trilateral covenants came as we explored
the subject with our good friends Martin and Cindy Frankena. We are grateful for
their collaboration!
Weve shared in past postings how this Third Great Awakening is a Great Return,
where multitudes will disengage from Jezebels table and return to the Table of the
Lord. There are two facets of the Great Return in our personal lives. First is a
matter of our will to forsake idolatry. Second is a legal matter, a matter of
covenant.
Thats what well be exploring today. God wants us to give us a new beginning,
joined only to Him. But ownership is determined by covenant. To gain a new
beginning in Christ, we must petition the Court of Heaven to grant us a divorce
from Baal (our idols), reset covenant with Jesus Christ, and cleanse us from present
and generational sin and bondage.
Understanding Trilateral Covenants
Again, to gain freedom two aspects are involved. First is a matter of our will.
Second is a matter of covenant, or legal right.
For this reason, we need a basic understanding of what weve come to call
Trilateral Covenants. When covenants are made, they are established in the
spiritual realm as well as the natural. They are horizontal, between two parties, and
also vertical, between a spiritual entity that is invoked to watch over the covenant.
The biblical account of the Covenant at Mizpah is a great example to learn from
(Genesis 31). At Mizpah, Jacob and Laban made a covenant with each other and
with the Lord. By invoking God to watch over the covenant they established a seat
of authority for God to rule over them according to the precepts of their covenant.
Covenants: Trilateral and Generational
This tradition of establishing trilateral covenants is best seen today in Christian
marriage ceremonies, where the Name of Jesus is invoked to watch over and

protect the bride and groom. By this, the newlyweds establish a seat of authority
for Jesus to watch over their marriage covenant.
But its important to note that every true covenant is trilateral, whether an entity
from the spiritual realm is publicly invoked or not. And many times, these
covenants are established with spiritual forces other than the Lord Jesus Christ as
the watcher who occupies the seat of authority.
Many covenants are also generational, affecting the offspring of people who make
these covenants for generations to come. Covenants made through freemasonry or
other occult groups clearly transfer ungodly effects to the next generation until they
are dealt with.
The good news is that Jesus Christ invested His very life to free us from the
enemys counterfeit covenants, and bring us into His everlasting covenant with us.
The body and blood of Jesus represent our only legitimate justification before the
Throne!
Covenants of Abuse
Because there are always at least three parties involved in establishing a covenant,
three parties must be involved in annulling a covenant that is compromised. We
generally focus horizontallybreaking soul ties, etcbut we rarely deal vertically
with our covenants.
When a godly covenant becomes compromised by a party through intentional,
sustained unfaithfulness and betrayal, the seat of authority over the covenant is
also compromised in the spiritual realm. By our ungodly choices or the ungodly
choices of our forefathers, and our passivity or agreement with them, demonic
powers can assume influence over the seats of authority of our covenants. They
then become covenants of abuse, where sin, abuse, injustice or betrayal is
tolerated and perpetuated.
We have often seen the influence of these demonic powers retained over a person
even after a covenant has been annulled in the natural. To regain our freedom,
covenants that have been compromised must be either repaired or annulled in the
spirit realm as well as the natural realm. Jacobs great return in Genesis 28-32
recounts this journey to freedom.
Annulling Trilateral Covenants
Isaiah 28 talks declares that God will annul a covenant with death that empowers
injustice to be perpetuated without detection in society. But when the Cornerstone,
Jesus Christ, is laid, the covenant with death is annulled!
The covenants with darkness and death made by us or our forefathers can be
legally annulled through Jesus Christ. This is where legal transactions must come

into play. In both the spiritual and natural realms, to legally annul a covenant we
must go to court and receive a verdict from a Judge.
So often when we try to help others, we assume the role of judge, jury and police
officer at the same time. Though our hearts are in the right place, our actions often
violate principles that God has established. Again, we must understand that the
Throne of Gods beauty is also the Court of His justice! We must learn to participate
in heavens court to see judgment rendered in favor of the saints (Daniel 7).
Resetting Gods Covenant
In Hosea 2, the great return of Hoseas compromised bride exemplifies the
process of seeing covenants with darkness annulled and covenant with the Lord
reset. God promises to deliver His bride, who compromised their covenant by
following Baal.
It will come about in that day, declares the Lord, that you will call Me Ishi, and will
no longer call me Baali. For I will remove the names of the Baals from her mouth,
so that they will be mentioned by their names no more.
I will betroth you to Me forever; Yes, I will betroth you to Me in righteousness and
in justice, in lovingkindness and in compassion, and I will betroth you to Me in
faithfulness. Then you will know the Lord (Hosea 2:16-20).
God goes on to say that this alignmentthis resetting of His covenant with His
bride will cause heaven and earth to align properly.
It will come about in that day that I will respond, declares the Lord. I will respond
to the heavens, and they will respond to the earth, and the earth will respond to
the grain, to the new wine and to the oil, and they will respond to Jezreel (Hosea
2:21-22).
Prayer for Freedom from Trilateral Covenants
Please note that this is not comprehensive. But its a good start. We encourage you
to seek out experienced and reputable counselors as you continue to pursue healing
and deliverance.
Father God, I come before the Court of Heaven and petition You as the Ancient of
Days to review my case and judge in my favor.
I am asking that You annul all trilateral covenants--covenants established in the
spirit and natural realms between myself and spiritual entities other than the Lord
Jesus Christ. I personally repent and renounce all personal and generational
covenants, I forgive my ancestors for entering into these covenants. I renounce all
covenants made between myself and these entities, and I renounce all covenants
made between my forefathers and these entities.

Father God, as Daniel saw, I ask now that You convene court and review my case.
Open the books of my life and generations. Please identify all places where either I
or my forefathers entered into covenant with demonic powers. Please annul all
trilateral covenants, all covenants with death and darkness throughout my
generational line.
Father God, my justification in this request is simply the body and blood of Jesus
Christ. Jesus took the full punishment for my sins and iniquities, or generational
sins. By this precious blood, I ask that you now blot out the record of my covenants
with idols and demonic powers, and those of my forefathers, now and forever.
Further, I ask that you dismiss from my life and bloodline all forces that have been
empowered by these covenants. Please dismantle all seats of authority, where
demonic powers have had legal authority to rule over my generations through these
covenants.
Father God, I ask that you grant me a judicial restraining order against these
demonic powers, in Jesus Name. Let this restraining order be enforced beginning
now!
I now reset covenant with You, Father God, in the Name of Jesus Christ. I give
myself to You without reserve, spirit, soul and body. I give to You the seat of
authority over myself, my family, my possessions and my generational line.
Father God, I am asking to be betrothed to the Lord Jesus Christ, and Christ alone,
redeemed by His body and blood alone. I receive Jesus Christ as My Lord, Savior,
and Bridegroom, In Jesus Name, AMEN!
