1.4 Infrastructure and non Infrastructure informations are given briefly below:
1.4.1 Infrastructure
Embankment:
Sirajganj district has a total of 80 km embankment. The average height of embankments R L (reduce level)
from 5.5 to 7 meters. Embankments annual rainfall is less damaged. So the government needs to reform the
embankments. In addition, Sirajganj District has a hard point for the protection of the river Jamuna in the
dam, which is 2550 meters in length. Huge stone dam, built with concrete. This has started as an Echo Park.
People and tourists as the entertainment center in the region using the dam.

Sluice gate:
There are 28 Sluice gait in Sirajganj district. In these 19 are active and 09 are inactive.

Bridge:
Bridge of Sirajganj district contains 1,985. Under the Roads and Highways 835 and 1150 under the bridges
of LGED. Contains all brijai motion.

Culvert:
Sirajganj district contains 3,019 Culvert. Under the Roads and Highways in 1042 and 1977 under the LGED
has culverts. There are over 2975 of them in motion and 44 unhelpful.

Roads:
Sirajganj district has a total of 1,673 road, with a length of 4,475 kilometers of paved road 929 km
:, mud road 3407 km . The roads average height is 6 feet. Needs to be mentioned here that 1242 km
is risk free in a total of 4475 km of this district .

Irrigation system:
There are 102990 tube well in Sirajganj district, which there are a total of 752 deep tube well, Hand pump
-31,338, individual ownership- 65,788, Shallow machine- 1290. In these, 95126 are going well, have turned

Hats/Bazar:
Sirajganj district has a total of 50 hats/market which sits on Saturday, Tuesday and Thursday . Store

Sirajganj district has a total of 444122 healthier closet. Placed above the flood level of 1,55,443 in the
sanitary latrine is suitable for use at flooding. Sirajganj district, 65% of residents use a sanitary latrine.

Sirajganj district has 629 Government and non government school which 5675 teachers supervision of
private educational institutions where In this, 345 are Government primary school where 2415 teachers

students are studying. Beisdes this, there are 148 Government and non
government high school where 52,196 students are studying there with the supervision of 1,452 teachers.

River:
8 Small-large rivers have in Sirajganj district. Flow of the river Jamuna by the side of the district
and other rivers are flowed in the district. 5 upazilas are affected each year Jamuna erosion. For the
remainng of the river, this area are sufficient devlopment. Lots of fish has produced and goods
transport cost are low. Sand, stones and fish are carried a very short time. In terms of diservice
every year is going to have some land to erosion. This is reducing the amount of arable land.

Ponds:
There are 19,184 ponds in this districts. Eventually, through all types of pond fish farming, the
inhabitant get the fruit ful pertaked. Selling all the fish from the pond, which is earning huge sums

Arsenic information:
Sirajganj district 05 districts (Sirajganj Sadar, Shahzadpur, Durgapur, Kamarkhand and belkuchi) in
14 villages in 09 unions of arsenic has contamination. Districts have a total of tube well 97126.
Tube well found arsenic has been identified in all red. These are people who do not use water in

2.3 Differnt types of hazards and its present and future aspect :
1. Flood :
Sirajganj District is an area of extensive flood-affected 5 of 9 upazilas of Sirajganj district j flood affected
area. Most rain in the month of Shravan and Shar usually coming from Assam because of the extra water
flooding. Flooding in this area is less/more than per year. The widespread crop damage and damage is
asset and life. Char of people were without shelter. However, not enough shelters. Embankments to
protect the people took refuge in the city, poor people are hurt financially and employment decreases.
Through the broad-based programs can be used to solve the problem.
2. River erosion:
Sirajgonj district o5 Upazilas are situated besides the bank of Jamuna. There are many
char areas in these upazilas. So, every year these area before and ending rain are
affected river erosion. For this, people become landless, increase poverty, loss
agriculture land and are damaged widerspread. For this, wider spread forestation can
reduce this problem.
3. North wester worm:
Usually in the month of April and May, this district is committed to the North west storm is
low/more every year. The agricultural sector disrupted production. IRRI rice fall storm, reduce
production through lie. Jute are damaged and vegetable field are practically destroyed. Glossary of

For north wester storm , 2005 Sirajganj Sadar upazila and municipality forestry, fruit and medicinal
plants collapsed and was 20% loss. To reduce the amount of damages nor 'wester homes, schools and
colleges need to build stronger and requires extensive plantations.
4. Drought:
Some places of the district agricultural land affected in the drought. Each Upazila is less/more
affected by the drought in 2006. However, the most affected are municipalities and Sadar Upazila.
The idea is that in those years, almost 20% arable crops are damaged. Severe drought and water
temperature increase due to in the fisheries sector are damaged.
5. Heavy rain:
Ashar - Shravan month of rain drawn agriculture, fisheries, public health, livestock, poultry and
communication sector is facing losses. As a result of heavy rains damaged crops are leafy
vegetables. Fish goes to rivers, canals and the bill and the fish farmers are affected. Also happen as
a result of the rain in the cold, cough, fever, pneumonia, hapani, diarrhea etc. diseases are found.
Cattle, poultry pest occurs. Collapse and become slimy mud roads become impassable and are
difficult to transport goods.
6. Cold wave:
Known as the gateway to the northern Sirajganj district are infected less/more cold stream every
year. Severe cold wave and dense fog maghe pausa mastard, potatoes and vegetables are damaged.
Transplanted aman and boro rice growth decreases. The public health is affected, people are cold,

Calendar Analysis:
Within twelve months of the year in this area hazard Which is organized and in which, if the effect is more
or less as shown in the graph of the seasonal calendar. Through discussions with the participants as part of
the pre-CRA is known:
Foold is th hazards of Sirajganj district. Flood damages the homes, the communication and
livlihood in this area. It obtains mid July to mid August.
Sirajganj district homes, roads, social and education institution crops and livestock damage
every year. Here river erosion occurs from mid-March to October.
Cold wave is the another problems of the region. Cold weather obtains Jamuna, Ichhamoti,
hurasagar, Kartoa, Boral river bank area and the northern region of the Himalayas cold wave
comes this area which influence influence the disease.
Cyclone is dangerous hazards. Cyclone damages homes, communications system and the
trees. From mid-March to the mid of May and from mid-September to mid-December in time it
occurs.
Drought is a another hazards in organized hazard in Sirajgonj district. Many of the crops are lost lack of
irrigation due to drought. That is an opinion that the lack of adequate water yield is reduced. Stored in this
pond water dry after the drought and get down to the bottom of the underground water level is seen in
the extreme shortage of drinking water. Drought from June to April is seen in this area.

Catgut industry is the main livelihood in Sirajgonj district. So, as a result of flood, catgut industry
are much damaged in this area. Flood, heavy rain and drougt loss much in fisheries sector. As a
result of flood, the fish go out through the pond over flow. Causing of drought, the cultivation
are hampered through water drying and the farmer loss. For the causing of all type hazard, day
labor and business man have affected.
Generaly River erosion in this district begins Ashar to Poush Month, but Kartik Month to Chaitra
Month has become more. Besides this, Ashar Month to Asshin month river erosion has found low.
Tis is the causing,this area houses, roads, soil, crops, educational institutions, plants, etc. are
affected. Sirajganj district contains arsenic contamination. Pollution levels is above 60 ppb. This
area shallow tube well obtains Arsenic and iron which is non illegible for human eating purposes.
The month of March-April the water level went down and shallow tube well have not found the
water and withdraw the water of deep tube well is very hard. Before the rainy season, asenik
pollution levels were observed the most which is 100 ppb and the lowest was observed 60 ppb in
the rainy season. There are concerns in the near future, deep tube will not found arsenic and iron
free drinking water. Public Health Engineering Department of Bangladesh, surveys by the results

has seen in Sirajganj district 7342 in 102990 tube well have been found arsenic. Which is 15.40
percent. Though the district have not been seen arsenikosisa disease But in the current surveys as a

4.2.9 Collect and keep dry food & Life protecting Medicine Ready:
To collect the dry food for immediate disbursement from local hat/Bazar.
Rice, pulses, flour, oil etc. materials and house repairing materials will be
collected from the local bazar.
Union level Health Assistant and Family Planning Assistant will list the medicine
and will collect from local bazar.
Transport of relief supplies to relief workers needed a rickshaw, bebiteksi and other
vehicles, etc. Chairman of the Union will be on integrating duties.
To collect the medicine from Upazila Livestock hospital and it will be reserved the
UP/health center.
In necessary experience person will be involved for lives treatment in the disaster
period.

every group 3 persons where 3 volunteer group will duty the control room at
Day/night. Union Parisad Secretary will supervise all time.
A register will stay in a control room. That register will order what time and who

sent that will be listed.

Shelter centers is operated through union parishad and school cum centers is
operating by SMC. There is no materials and tools of shelter center and school
cum center for volunteer. We need to reparing shelter center due to proper
utilization. Most of shelter centers are not functionting with home linked road.
As a result roads need to be reparing and to be made high. Moreover, most of
shelter centers have no utility facilities i.e. light, drinking water etc.
Consisting of shelter center management committee
Shelter center management is a vital parts of disaster management. Many
shelter centers is not functiong due to lack of proper and timely maintanance.
As a result, shelter center management has included with disaster management
plan.
