Detailed Charging
In this section we discuss the different charging records collected in the
DX 200 system. The relevant parameters are interrogated and modified.
Note
The operator cannot change the format of a charging record with MML
commands. This always done by Nokia.

3.1 Charging record and charging block handling

1.

Display the Detailed Charging menu.

Command:
_________________________________________________

2.

Display all the types of CDR formats (Hint: Using GAL command,
but there is no need to execute the command.), and list the
different types of charging records defined in this exchange.

Basics of Charging

Charging data collection and transfer to

the Billing Centre
In the DX 200 MSC/HLR, the charging system is distributed into several
computer units. In the HLR, the detailed charging function (creating and
saving the charging records) uses the disks of the statistical unit (STU).
In the MSC, the detailed charging function uses a charging unit (CHU).
The charging files are transferred from the Winchester disk of the
STU/CHU using the FTAM file transfer application. The X.25 connection
is provided by the BDCU.

4.1 Checking the states of charging files (normal

situation)
In daily work, O&M people should check the states of all charging files.
Normally, all charging files should have a "Transferred" state. This
means that "Full" charging files have already been transferred to the
Billing Centre.
7.

Which logical file is used for transferring CDRs in a charging block

(RAM) to the disk?
_____________________________________________________

8.

Which VDS-No. is connected to this logical file (for CHU)? (Hint:

IID command.)
_____________________________________________________

9.

Check states of all charging files in the CHU.

Command:
_________________________________________________

10.

How many charging files have a "FULL" state?

_____________________________________________________
If there are many "FULL" charging files, this means that charging
files can not be transferred to the Billing Centre (BC). You should
check if the data communication link between the MSC/HLR and
the BC is faulty.

4.2 Backing up charging data from the hard disk to FDU

(fault situation)
If the data communication link between the MSC/HLR and the BC has
been faulty for a few days, to correct the problem you should back up
the charging data FULL files to FDU.

11.

Check the charging files which are in FULL state.

Command:____________________________________________

12.

Insert the MO disk.

If it is not formatted, format the MO disk first.
Command:____________________________________________
If it is formatted, initialise the MO disk.
Command:____________________________________________

13.

Copy files from hard-disk of CHU to MO disk.

Command:____________________________________________

14.

Eject the MO disk.

4.3 Interrogating the status of interfaces towards the

Billing Centre (BC)
It is possible to interrogate the interface towards the BC if it exists in a
OCD Test Bed - if there is a connection between the MSC and the BC.
In this exercise you will interrogate LAN (TCP/IP) interfaces
independently of an existing BC connection. It is sufficient to have LAN
(TCP/IP) interface defined in the MSC and run the following commands:
Interrogating the status of the LAN (TCP/IP) interface towards the
BC
1. Interrogate TCP/IP Network Interface Data.
Command: _______________________________
2. Interrogate TCP/IP Route Data.
Command: _______________________________
3. Interrogate TCP/IP Service Data.
Command: _______________________________
