Act I
Scene 1
Odins Court
A silhouette of Odin sitting on the throne appears on the
background. He has nightmares. First nightmare is his bout against
his father, Ymir the Worlds Giant, the second is his punishment he
bestowed upon Loki and Angrboda, and the third is his fight against
Gustave for the love of Hervor.
First Nightmare
Odin enters with a body bathed in blood
Ymir enters
YMIR
Fall thee before me, unworthy son! Thy blood shall cleanse the sins
you committed! A sons sin! It befalls to a son to take his fathers
words as a command and to take his fathers deeds as an example! You
failed me, Odin!
ODIN
A father treading on the path of virtue and justice is the only
father I devote myself to! This battle is to return thee to the path
you should have walked on! This battle is divine! I shall end thee,
father, and throne myself a father! The All-Father!
They fight
Ymir, due to his arrogance, falls before Odin
YMIR
H-How could it be?
ODIN
The sins of the father rusted thy blade. Thou abused the power to
this universe, to mother! Thy blood, bones, and flesh shall mend thy
wrongs!
YMIR
(laughs)
Fate is like a snake with the head on the center and tail on the
edge! Thou shall face the same fate as I do! One of your sons will
be the door to thy downfall! A son birthed by the Death! That is my
curse!
(laughs and vomits blood)
Black out on the stage with silhouette still appearing
Second Nightmare
Light on
Freya is holding Angrboda captive while Thor is holding Loki
They separate the two
Odin stands between them

LOKI
Descend your wrath onto me only, father! Release her! Release
Angrboda!
ANGRBODA
Loki, sire!
ODIN
A God and a Giant in consummation? Thats a blasphemy! No creatures
shall smile upon thee! Thou shall wander the Nine Worlds endlessly
until Ragnarok descends! Thy punishment, that shall be!
THOR
Father, your punishment was too cruel for Loki. Please, have mercy
on him, father.
ODIN
Thou are questioning my justice, Thor?
FREYA
I have no rights to utter an opinion and thats to my knowledge,
sire. But, a mother births child so that the child might never be
away from her. Your punishment, your punishment scatters the chain
of love between a mother and a son. Please, reconsider.
ODIN
A chain of justice ties ones fate. A chain of love ties ones
destiny. When love is unjustly executed, then, justice shall bring
with her a hammer. My words have been spoken.
LOKI
I shall remember this, father. I will have no grudge nor hatred
toward you. All I have is a willingness, the willingness to correct
your wrongs!

Odin is fighting against Gustave
Hervor is watching them in tears
Gustave falls

ODIN
Why, Hervor? Why should thine pity and concern fly to that
dishonored man?
YOUNG HERVOR
(helps Gustave stand)

YOUNG GUSTAVE
It would be an insult to beg for mercy from him, from a wretched
God!

Hervor is a Valkyrie. She belongs to me from the very beginning.
Thou are scissors for our thread of love. Dismantling thee is what I
am obliged to do.
YOUNG GUSTAVE
Heavens and Earth shall crumble if they witness that the All-Father
has an affair with his Valkyire, his own servant!
ODIN
No loves are wrong. Tis the reasons behind them wronging the loves.
Hervor and I had been tied by a bond and none shall cut it!
YOUNG HERVOR
my master and Lord Gustave is my savior. Thank you for

hasten the Collection of the Braves Souls of Einherjar to fight
against the Giants, Dark Elves, and Humans. Heavens must not fall!

Battleground
Frederick Ashenwill and Gustave Risendrake are in a war to determine
the rightful conqueror of Midgard.
Light on
The soldiers from the two sides fight and fall on stage
Their dead bodies, swords, spears, and shields decorate the stage
Brynhildr, Sigurd, Geirskogul, and Eir watch the fight and the death
BRYNHILDR
Eir, Lord Odin assigned you to replace Hervor as a Valkyrie in our
group. Thus, we shall teach you how things are done as a Valkyrie.
EIR
T-Thank you, sis. Can I ask something?
BRYNHILDR

EIR
What has happened to Hervor?
GERISKOGUL
(cries loudly in sudden)
It was a tragic story.
SIGURD
She was a foolish Valkyrie.
BRYNHILDR
When the time comes, I shall tell you, dear Eir.

First lesson, about us, Valkyries. We were born for two reasons:
reaping ones soul and protecting Lord Odin at all cost. There are
thirty seven of us. From those thirty seven are divided into nine
teams. Each team consists of four Valkyries.
EIR
That only makes thirty six, then. So, there is Valkyrie without a
team.
BRYNHILDR
Youre perceptive, Eir. Yes. Theres one Valkyie without a team.
Youve met her. Shes Mist the Cloud-Bringer.
EIR
Oh! That Mist. I didnt know why but just standing beside her
already shook my body.

SIGURD

Shes the Goddess of Death for Goddesses of Death.

This book has no arts in it. (throws the book to Sigurd)

Death is death. There is no art in it! We are Valkyries, Goddess of
Death! Our job is to reap the souls, carry them to Valhalla, and
recruit them as soldiers! That simple!

(cries out loud all of sudden)
Death should be dramatically arranged! Without drama in a death, no
memories humans can share with, no tales they can tell, and no pains
they can feel. Thats why we call it D.I.E, Drama In Everything.
BRYNHILDR
Well, thats artistic but I think death is not always sad and
dramatic. It can be fun and happy.
EIR
I-I am afraid of taking ones life, sis.
BRYNHILDR
We all here felt the fear on our first day.
SIGURD
Only you and Geirskogul. I am never in fear.
BRYNHILDR
Whatever. (examines the area) Ah, perfect. Well show you some
examples on how to take someones life. Two opposing soldiers are
coming here. Theyll fight for sure and thats our job to pick the
soul.

it Lord Odin.

Next, you will have to write the death methods for the humans youll
reap the soul from.

Well use these humans as experiments but have their names appeared
on the Diary?
BRYNHILDR
Not yet but thats fine. Writing a name that hasnt appeared on the
Diary will not make the mans death permanent. Okay. Now, lets
resume the experiment. Ill give you the gist of it. As my slogan is
Death is Art, I will write Died for laughter.
EIR
Wh-What? They will be dead because of laughter? Is it possible?
BRYNHILDR
Sure. Watch it carefully. Move!

body. If these guys are sinners, its going to be difficult for us
to do the extraction. If they are good, its easy and it shows that
they have potentials to be the Einherjar, the Soldiers of Heavens.

Geirskogul. That sarcastic looking woman there is Sigurd. And that
innocent looking girl is Eir.

(looks at their own bodies)

Shut the crap! Youre just an experiment.

in to the battle so we decided to use you as the experiments.

They will fight for love in the midst of the wind blows. The lady
they love will come and stop them but they refuse. In the end, they
die before her.

Nero and Grey are confused on what happens to them
Nero and Grey act like warriors in their dramatic actions

Wh-Whats happening? Why did I suddenly feel like a warrior in the
romance?
GREY
Me too. I feel I have to fight you, to fight for love.
Random Lady enters and stands between them
RANDOM LADY
Wh-Whats going on? Wh-Why am I here? Wh-Who are you gentlemen?

RANDOM LADY
I was washing some clothes in the river near this field but
unconsciously there is some kind of power forcing me to come here.
GREY
I feel I have some attachment with this lady.
RANDOM LADY

NERO

unnecessary to engage in a war. Dying old isnt that bad, in my
opinion.

Eir appears in her human form before Weiss
GREY

Death is teaching any living things the value of life. I am Weiss.

EIR
I am Eir when I am in my Valkyrie form. I am Hedwig when I am in my
human form.
WEISS
Hedwig, it is. So, Hedwig, can you somehow delay my death? I just
want to see my mother for the last time before I am dead.
EIR
Why, sir? You still can see her through dreams when youre dead.
WEISS

EIR
What is a mother? All I have is a father. Hes Lord Odin. He created
me along with other Valkyries. I am the youngest. I was just
appointed as a Valkyrie by Lord Odin.

A mother is someone giving birth to you. Shes willingly to embrace
death to ensure the life of her child. Thus, as her children, it
befalls to us to sacrifice our lives for her.
EIR
Endless sacrifice. Can I meet your mother, Weiss? I will delay your
death but please, allow me to see your mother.
WEISS
Sure, Hedwig.
Eir touches Weiss head and miraculously Weiss regains his health
WEISS
This is simply miraculous. I will keep my promise. Once I meet my

Maximillian and Frederick are trying hard to escape from Gustave
They take a break for a while

We have managed to flee quite far. I am worried of Weiss.
MAXIMILLIAN
Worry not, sire. Weiss is a capable swordsman. He has performed a
fine exploit by opening us a chance to save you, sire. Lets resume
our escape. The camp is on our reach.

MAXIMILLIAN

Were ordered by Odin to search for a fallen Valkyrie by the name
Hervor. Information brought us here. But, these people were too
stubborn. They claimed they didnt know Hervor. They must have
been lying to us and thereby we killed them.
ISOLDE
There is none here by the name Hervor! This is humans world! No
Valkyrie lives here!
FENRIR
(howls) That old lady over there. She smells different. Shes not a
human.
JORMUNGANDR
(hisses) Fenrir is right. My instinct tells me the same thing.
TRISTAN

TRISTAN

I had love so wrong with my own master, with Lord Odin. Once I
realized that it was wrong, I spent my time on Midgard more than in
Asgard to avoid any meeting with him. One day I met somebody who
would, then, change my entire life. His name is Gustave Risendrake.
It was in the midst of battle between Holy Kingdom of Bjarmaland and
Empire of Kvaland. I met him in his dying condition. I was supposed
to reap his soul but his plead stopped me from doing so. He wanted
to see his mother for the last time. He promised me that he would
gladly give his life after he ensured that his mother was all fine.
I agreed.
In our journey to Kvaland, we shared many stories. I learnt a lot
from Gustave on how to be true to myself. Somehow our hearts were
connected. His presence erased the false memories I shared with Lord
Odin. I told him about my duty as a Valkyrie, Einherjar, and the
Death Diary. Even I told him my affair with Lord Odin. He told me
that it was wrong. I told him that I wanted to flee from Asgard and
quitted my role as a Valkyrie. He promised me that he would protect
me from any consequences resulting from my quit as a Valkyrie. His
words somehow soothed me. I found love, so honest, from Gustave.
After few days of walking, we arrived in Kvaland and what I found
was a horrible scene. Lord Odin led his Valkyries to burn down the
Empire. Everything was scorched black. It was like a Hell. Emperor
Balmung who defied Odins teaching by warring against Bjarmaland,
the symbol of Odins teaching on Midgard, was brutally executed.
Gustave desperately sought for her mother only to find her body
lying without soul. Enraged, Gustave sought for Lord Odin and
challenged him in a duel. I tried to stop him but it was all in
vain.
Lord Odin accused Gustave from tricking me and Gustave accused Lord
Odin for exercising a shameful thing. They fought. In the end, Lord
Odin rose victorious. As he attempted to finish Gustave, I stopped
him. I pleaded Lord Odin to spare his life. Lord Odin refused. I
knew this would happen. I threatened Lord Odin that I would reap my
own soul by writing my death on the Diary. He did not falter. I
wrote on the Diary that I would die for seven days and return to
life after the seventh day. I died, then. I didnt know what
happened next. All I knew was that I was on the funeral raft when I

awoke. Then, I landed on an unknown place. There I realized that I

was pregnant. In the place also I met your mortal father, Eric. He
took care of me. In the end, he married me though he knew that I was
pregnant. He took me to this village. We started a new life. Our
life was happier when you were born, Weiss. Then, it was even
happier when Isolde was born. Then, it was even much more happier
when Isolde married with Tristan.
This is the life that I always dreamt; live a simple yet blissful
and blessed life.

Risendrake. Elven blood runs through his veins. Dwarven
blacksmithing lies deep in his knowledge. Mans courage resides
within his heart. Giants survival skill forges his body. And,
moreover he is a Risendrake, one of the clans of the Dragonherds,
shepherd of the dragons. Elves, Dwarves, Men, Giants, and
Dragonherds would have stood tall against you if I stopped you not
at that time. Youre the All-Father, yes. But, remember, sire,
Ymirs Curse.

How was that Curse linked to Gustave?
MIMIR
A son birthed by the Death. Risendrake is the son of all races;
Elves, Dwarves, Men, Giants, and Dragonherds. And, he could survive
from the death twice, from the war, from dueling against you. Even
with his magnificent power, he could rebuild the Empire of Kvaland
from the scratch. Thats a son birthed by the Death.

Loki might be the son Ymir prophesied.
