Taught by Warren Jeffs

Tape # 21 – January 16, 1996

Subject: Kings of Israel, Judah & Elijah
I trust you are taking seriously, the training we are giving you. We are telling you the history
of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, among all His people - from Adam down to our day. It was Him
working through the prophets, Himself.
The kings of Israel, the Northern kingdom, were all wicked. The kings of Judah - some were
righteous and some were wicked. The righteous ones tried to get the people to worship the true God.
The wicked kings turned to idols. And worshipped them. The king Jehosephat tried to remove all the
idols out of the land. The king, Ahab took to wife, Jezzebel, the daughter of the king of the
Ziddionites. He worshipped Baal, another word of the devil. The people were devil worshipping. They
were immoral. Ahab did more to anger the Lord, than all the kings before him - the most wicked king
Israel ever had. In the Southern kingdom, there was a righteous king, Asa, and then Jehosephat. The
tribe of Judah was under that king. Elijah was a great prophet and held the keys of the priesthood. He
held the sealing keys, the powers of the priesthood where, when a man speaks, it's as though God
speaks.
The man that holds those keys, the Lord will bless that which he blesses. What that man
curses, the Lord will curse. Always remember students, President Jeffs today, holds the same keys of
Elijah - the sealing keys, or the sealing powers.
Elijah told Ahab there would be no rain nor even the dew - there would be a drought. The
people started to die. The king ordered that Elijah be captured. Elijah went up to the mountains by a
brook. The ravens brought him food in order for him to survive. The famine lasted over three years.
No water or food, yet the king and his wife continued in their terrible evils. When Elijah ran out of
water, the Lord told him to go live with a widow woman in the city Zeraphat. All she had was a little
bit of flour and oil. She gathered sticks for a fire to cook her last meal for her son and herself. The
people saw that only death was waiting for them. Elijah said to feed him first and she obeyed. She was
inspired to obey the prophet. Because she fed her last bit of food to Elijah, he promised her that her
container of oil and barrel of flour would never be empty. They were always full. There is no such
thing as empty space. The Lord can command - or His prophet can and our blessings can appear out of
the elements. That's the power of the priesthood. They had food because of the faith and priesthood
power of Elijah.
I want to testify to you young people; President Jeffs holds the same power today. He can
command, the Lord telling him to do so, and it will happen. We know the man who has the greatest
power on earth. At the command of President Jeffs, he can control the weather. He can cause
earthquakes to come. He can cause our enemies to be destroyed. He will not do it unless the Lord
tells him, and he will not do it unless we are worthy. There are great miracles being performed in this
day, through the faith of this prophet, and one of those miracles is that you are sitting here today,
being taught the priesthood way. The devil has tried to destroy this work and it is a miracle, a great
blessing that we sit here in peace, teaching you these things. Believe in the same God of Abraham,
Isaac and Jacob, for He is the God of President Rulon Jeffs today. Believe it and trust in this prophet.

Subject: Elijah (continued)
The people rejected the Lord when they asked for a king. When men become the ruler and
they leave Heavenly Father out of it, they usually turn wicked. In fact, the only righteous kings are
those that let the Lord rule through them. The blessings that our prophet gives us go beyond this life
and that is the keys of Elijah.
Jezzebel, that gentile woman, said she would kill Elijah, so he had to flee for his Life again.
An angel appeared and gave him food. The Lord asked Elijah what he was doing and Elijah said he
was the only one who hadn't turned to Baal. The prophet felt like he was all alone, no friends to
protect him. He had to hide in the mountains. The spirit of the Lord told him to come to a certain
place on the mountain and the Lord Himself appeared to Elijah. He said to Elijah there were still
seven thousand people of Israel who had not bowed down to idols. If the Lord couldn't find enough
people who hadn't turned to the devil, He would have destroyed all the people. There were enough
obedient people for the Lord to protect the Israelites. The Lord encouraged Elijah and told him to go
and ordain a certain man to be king of Asiria - Hazeal. He said to ordain a man to be king of Israel,
named Jahu, in Ahab's place. He was then told to go and find a man named Elisha and ordain him to
be a prophet after himself. Elijah told Ahab he would die and the dogs would lick his blood, and told
Jezzebel the dogs would eat her. Ahab was told he would have victory over the king of the Syrians. He
had victory, but when Ahab let the king of Syria live, then Elijah told him those curses, which did
happen.
Understand, we don't go to the prophet and say for him to prophecy a certain way. We don't go
to the prophet and say if he does a certain thing, it will happen. Our faith is in our Lord and Savior,
Jesus Christ. We always say, thy will be done, but when the prophet says what will happen by the
word of the Lord, it will happen.
So the dogs licked up king Ahab's blood when he was killed by a soldier's arrow. Jezzebel
continued living for a while. Her end came in the time of the next prophet, Elisha. Elijah was
translated like Enoch and his city. When a prophet is translated, their body is changed into a terrestrial
condition where they can't suffer pain, where the devil can't tempt them any more. When he was taken
away, his faithful friend Elisha was there with him. Elijah came to the Jordan River and took off his
cloak and then he struck the water and the water separated. The two men walked through on dry
ground; then the water continued. Elisha asked that a double portion of Elijah's spirit be upon him.
There appeared a horse and a chariot surrounded by fire, or the spirit of God. Elijah got on to this
chariot and was taken up into the sky. The cloak, or mantle of Elijah lay on the ground. Only the Lord
puts his power in a man, and when that happens, no one can see it. When Uncle Roy died, nobody saw
the Lord put that power in President Jeffs, but the Lord did it. Elijah was translated and Elisha picked
up the cloak and headed home. He struck the water of the Jordan river, with the cloak and the water
parted at his command. He walked through on dry ground. When Elisha went back, the people said
they could see he was the prophet because the Lord had given him the same power as Elijah. So this is
a beautiful story. When one prophet is taken away, how another one becomes the prophet, and that
was by the Lord putting His power in that man.
I want you to believe these stories and trust that President Jeffs word shall be accomplished -
which is why we're telling these stories to you. I say again, I'll tell you about Jezzebel and what

happened to her in another story. You can read these stories yourself. Read seven or eight chapters. I
detect in some of you still, that you are treating lightly, these stories of the prophets. I call on all of
you, come to this class with a prayer, believing what you will be told. We are only giving you what
the Lord left us.
