Elements of an E-Commerce Group Assignment

The class will be divided into 7 different expert groups and each student
group will be responsible for the research of each of the following topics:
Web Server Hardware

Other Software

Web Server Software

Security Firewall

Merchant Server Software

High-Speed Telecommunication Connection

Payment Software

ASSIGNMENT EXPECTATIONS
As an expert group you are responsible to research information on your
assigned topic so that a 20 minute oral presentation can be presented to
your peers.
Each of the following must be included:

A clear and concise definition of your topic and its


importance/relevance to E-Commerce.

Three different products/services must be presented that can be


used by a small to medium-sized business (According to Industry
Canada, in services a small business has up to 50 employees and a
medium one has between 50 and 300 employees. In manufacturing, a
small business employs up to 100, while a medium can employ up to 500
employees.) So if your group is researching payment software you
must present 3 different payment software packages from three
different competing firms. Include firms web-site URL.

Describe the purpose of such product/service and how it can be used


to assist in E-Commerce.

List any specific advantages/disadvantages of each.

Be as specific as possible and present the information in such a way


that your peers will understand the material; remember it will be new
to them. If possible, note which businesses currently use the given
technology and how it has assisted them; include their web-site URL.

The cost of such technology; must be expressed in Canadian dollars.

The amount and type of customer service available by each different


firm. (Be specific. For example, help desk support 24 hours a day,
365 days a year, implementation services, lease options etc.)

A one-page typed handout (submitted to the teacher 2-days prior to


your presentation date) summarizing the details of your presentation.
Include as much information as requested above in your handout.
