Final Demonstration
Mr. JAN REYNARD B. FLORES
In my final demonstration Im excited and quite nervous. Excited in a way that I
knew to myself that behind those preparations and hardships for that day is that- it is the
most awaited moment for a future teacher like me. Because that is the moment where
there are panels that will observe us and will give comments and suggestions for me to
improve my teaching skills. And quite nervous, in such a way that I dont know if
everything does gone fine.
I find it hard to choose what topic I will use for my demonstration. My personal
choice is dance or physical education but when I scan the book for Grade 8, there is no
topic that fits my interest. But since I cant pick a topic from dance or PE, I just decided
to get out of my comfort zone. Even though it is my final demonstration which I need to
get a high grade- I took a risk. I have decided to choose Health- Smoking as my topic
for my final demo. At first I find it hard to visualize the flow of my lesson. I cant think
well, there is no idea coming out from my mind maybe because that is not my first
option in my topic. But despite that, I am really thankful because I have friends whos
very supportive and keeps on pushing me to work on my chosen topic. By that moment,
I started to work on my topic and thank God because Im able to think well. So much
effort, time and money were spent for my final demonstration. I keep on praying that
everything will going to fine and successful.
In the day of my demonstration, I wasnt able to start on time because the
maintenance was fixing the electric fan on that room. Upon waiting for them to finish
fixing that, I talk to my students. I make some talk to them so that they will be
conditioned that it will be my final demonstrations and I need them to participate during
the discussion. Then I follow the routinary activity in the classroom. Before I proceed to

my lesson, I have a prepared activity for my students to condition themselves for our
topic. I also showed video clips that will supplement information for my students. I also
have a set of pictures so that my students can easily visualize the topic that Im
discussing. The student participates well in the activity but in the discussion- not really.
Maybe because my topic is not that familiar for them. They find it hard to share their
insights maybe because they were afraid to give the wrong one. Then before the class
ends, I gave a group activity. I ask them to create a poster that explains the effects of
cigarette smoking to our health. They have fun doing it.
After my discussion, my panel gave their comments and suggestions on how to
improve my teaching strategy. But the most problem that I have is the art of questioning.
If I paraphrase well my questions maybe that will help to boost out the ideas they have
in mind. Everything has done well, but I know that I can do better out of that. Even
though I dont get the highest grade, but the most important to me is that I learn from
that and also I try something new aside from dancing.
