STATEMENT OF WORK FOR THE DELIVERY OF ABC NETWORK

OBJECTIVE
The objective of this SOW is to deliver an enterprise-wide telecommunications network
for the ABC Company. Design a network structure that will handle a constant stream of
multimedia traffic between offices. Include a telephone system capable of delivering
voice to any location in the company and include a secure network both physical and
logical.
SCOPE
The network will be global and consist of 150 Users including Headquarters and the
Data Center. The work will deliver a full Local Area Network to each of the following
ABC Company sites; The U.S. (San Francisco, Detroit, Washington, Indianapolis,
Tampa), Europe (Paris, Liverpool), Japan (Tokyo), and South America (Sao Paulo). The
network is for the purpose of communication and development of audio and video
special effects for the entertainment and advertising industry.
Deliver a Wide Area Network so that users from all company locations including those
working remotely can pass traffic and have access to files and folders and to the
Internet.
Deliver a high level security system both physical and logical.
Deliver a telephone system that will connect all physical sites to one another capable of
speed dialing and conference calling.

REQUIREMENTS

Deliver LAN networks to the main design centers and sales offices will be located
in Detroit, Paris, Tokyo, and Sao Paulo with the Corporate Headquarters also a

design center located in San Francisco.

The Corporate Headquarters in San Francisco will house the data center.
The company will operate on a 24x7 basis
Enable network to handle file sizes with an average of 25 MB
Deliver a response time of no more than 20 seconds between workstations for

data transfer of a file size as big as 50 MB.

Install multimedia (audio and video) in the design centers that will allow average

file sizes are 50MB of combined data.

Deliver a telephone system capable of speed dialing and conferencing to all sites

in the ABC network.

Ensure the network design is expandable for future growth.
Design the network with both physical and logical security and include

procedures.
Deliver a centralized server solution with the hub located in San Francisco

Headquarters.
Each site will include a UPS power supply.

WAN AND LAN DESIGN

This SOW was developed to provide LAN and WAN connectivity to the ABC Company.
The design will provide LAN networks for nine sites both in the US and Globally. All of
the buildings are on one floor; accept San Francisco Headquarters, which will require
two floors the main floor for the Design Center and the basement for the data center.
Due to this unique piece of the design risers and fiber optic cabling will be installed from
the data center to the telephone closet of the Design Center LAN network.

All rooms will be outfitted with Cat5e in any cabling to support the hardware installation
and will abide by all cabling standards and codes. All hardware, conduit, cabling and
connectors will pass the UL requirements. Cat5e was chosen over Fiber Optic cable
due to the higher cost of the fiber and associated hardware and components. Cat5e is
made to support 1000 Mbps gigabit speeds; its faster than Cat5 and will also cut
down on crosstalk. With Cat5e, the local network will have faster more reliable speed
that will adhere to the speed requirements. Belkin CAT 6 Premium Patch cable-100ft
will be used to connect the devices to a 48-Port Cat5E 110-Type Patch Panel Patch
Panel at each site that will then connect to the network switch. The use of ladder rack
and tray systems will feed the Cat5e cable through the ceilings.
A Star Topology will make the switch the central connection point of the LAN. The
advantage of this topology is it is easy to troubleshoot if the entire LAN network is down.
In addition, Each LAN will include a UPS - The Smart-UPS 2200VA LCD 120V from
APC provides power to your important computer components in the event of an
electrical outage. An Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) contains a battery that
continues to power computers, monitors and other components if the electricity is cut
from them.
Another advantage is when there is a cable failure the workstation connected to that
cable is the only device that will be down making this a very dependable design.
The San Francisco Headquarters site will also house the centralized servers which will
be located in a data center within the same building. The data center will be located in

the basement of the Headquarters building and will require risers and fiber optic cabling
to the telephone closet.
The San Francisco Headquarters/Data Center will also host a Design Center on the
main floor, and the LAN will create a star topology with a Cisco Nexus 7000 Series
Switch - which will support high 10 GB to 40 GB Ethernet density. A UPS - The SmartUPS 2200VA LCD 120V from APC will be installed in the data center as a backup power
source in the event of a power failure.
Each LAN will include a CISCO1941W-E/K9 Router will be used to enable WAN and
WLAN connectivity, providing media collaboration and virtualization to the site while
maximizing operational cost savings. The Generation two platforms are future-enabled
for expendability within the network. With multicore CPUs, Gigabit Ethernet switching
with enhanced POE and energy monitoring and control capabilities will enhance overall
system performance. The router we chose has intelligent security integration including
embedded hardware encryption firewall, intrusion prevention, and application services.
In addition, the platforms support the industries widest range of wired and wireless
connectivity options such as T1/E1, xDSL, and 3G allowing use of tablets, Smart
Phones and laptops.
Each LAN will include a Dell PowerEdge T620 Server. Dual Xeon E5-2600 Processors
Up to 768GB memory (RAM) 24 DIMM slots, 12 hot-swap bays and 16-32 bays.
All Design Centers including San Francisco, Detroit, Paris, Tokyo and Sao Paul have 20
employees at each site with the same floor design in each location that consist of the
following rooms:

Telecommunications Closet Where the switch, router and server devices are

located.
IT Department two workstations
Conference Room Wireless Access Point to provide network access for remote

users and Video conferencing ability.

District Managers Office one workstation.
A small copy and print station where two network printers and copier are housed.
Human Resource One workstation.
Show Room three TVs on a loop showing our products.
Sales Office Ten workstations. Sales using laptops for portability with VPN
capability for remote use.

The data center located within the San Francisco Corporate Headquarters will use a
centralized server that will be located in San Francisco. This location will act as a hub
and data center for the entire network. The following hardware will be installed in the
data center:
The main switch - a Cisco Nexus 3064-X Layer 3 that will be used to send and receive
traffic, between the headquarters and all other offices. The demarcation point will go
into the router and sonic firewall and cable the central server and connect to the switch.
Two Cisco catalyst switches will be used to transfer data to the building San Francisco
Headquarters LAN from the data center. This design will create a faster network.
Five Servers in the data center Main centralized which includes, Exchange, Data
Base. Print and Backup are running Microsoft Exchange 2013 Enterprise Server.
San Francisco- Corporate Headquarters will have 30 users which include those in the
Design Center the rooms will consist of the following rooms:
