Advantage of Joining FTK

My name is Mohd Khairil Nizam bin Baba, AN130025. We are given a project to be
completed before week 10. The project asked us to make a montage about Faculty of
Engineering Technology. This video will be used for our Jom Masuk FTK website using
Adobe Dreamweaver which is part of our marking scheme for our subject Multimedia
Technology.
We divide our work between our members and I am tasked to make a video around 40
seconds to explain about the advantages of joining Faculty of Engineering Technology. The
software that we use to make the montage is Adobe After Effects CC (2014). The video that
we create does not use any templates from the Internet and it is started from the basics. We
learn how to use all the parts of the software and make full use of it.
To start using the software, we must the background first. You can put any picture for
the background or use any basic colours. Create a new composition by clicking Composition,
New Composition A menu will pop up and name your composition, set your video size and
select your background colour and click OK. Now a stage will pop up and you will do the
project inside the Stage. The effect that we use inside this program is text swinging and
moving.
Next, we put text in the program. Click Horizontal Type Tool, click anywhere inside
the Stage and type your text. Resize your text by click the Selection Tool and click and hold
the borders of the word and resize it according to your requirements. Repeat the same step for
other words.
After that, in order to line up the words, resize it based on the explanation above.
Resize it to make sure every side of each word matches with each other so that you can make
the swinging effect for all the words. In order to make the swinging effect, you have to make
sure to turn on the 3D Layer on the left bottom side of the program with the 3D box picture
and click on each words you created on the program.
Then, change the anchor point of each word by making it at the centre and at the top
of the word. In order to do it, go to each word on the left bottom of the program, click the
drop down button and go to the Anchor Point. To change the value, there are three points,
change the left and middle value by sliding to left or right. Make sure the axis is at the center
and at the top when changing the value. After position the axis at the middle, we go to the
next step.

Next, on the first word, we click the drop down menu and select the frame first by
zooming on the time frame. For the first word, go to the frame 0, go to Rotation X and click
the Time-Vary Stopwatch beside it. Change the rotation so that you cannot see the word and
start from the backside. Go to the next 5 th frame and choose the rotation -30 degrees. Repeat
the same step for value +25, -20, +15, -10 and 0 degree. Repeat the same step for all the
words but start from the 3rd frame for the second word and 6th frame and so on for the next
word.
This part I want to discuss about the advantage of joining the Faculty of Engineering
Technology. You will get a better job prospect because of the advantage you have doing a lot
of practical during your studies. Most companies want graduates who are able to do work
when being offered a job. So you get a lot of opportunities in getting a job. You are also able
to score all the subjects easily because the marking scheme is based on 60% practical and
40% theory. Plus, there is a lot of activities that you can join which are tailored for FTK
students. You also get the chance to visit the industrial companies around Malaysia which is
fully conducted and sponsored by our faculty. The most important thing is we may be
awarded by the title Ts. as Technologist once the board responsible is formed. You also get
the advantage of doing industrial training earlier than the engineering students so that you are
able to know how the work life is and give you an early hands-on in the course you pick.
