“Behind the Screen” Exhibition at the Museum of the
Moving Image

CONCEPT.
A f ilm is framed with a thick black frame, which flips
around and reveals the behind-the-scenes aspec ts
that contribute to get ting a f ilm made.

COLORS. SIMPLE SHAPES. SILHOUETTES. PROJECTORS.


Big. Bold. High Contrast. Light is big , T he color s are complemented with simple, V isual devices to seperate T he execution of the music video
bright and unapologetic . minimalistic shapes that sug gest a big ger dif ferent planes. Also to sug gest for Fujiya & Miyagi entitled
concept without spelling it out. dif ferent atmospheres. “Knickerbocker ” is reminiscent of
the theater experience.

An animated call back to the origins of film, going back to
i t s b l a c k a n d w h i t e r o o t s w i t h a h i n t o f g r a y. E a c h c e l l w i l l

w h e r e a r e p r e s e n t a t i v e o f e a c h g r o u p (a H a n d y M a n f r o m

P a n e l , e t c .) w i l l h o l d u p t h e t i t l e o f t h e p a n e l , a n d t h e n h o l d
up signs describing the necessar y information to go see the
exhibition.

I t ’s s u p p o s e d t o f e e l l i ke l o o s e e n d s , t h a t a r e b e i n g t i e d
together by the magic of film.

The panels are projec ted around the feature film, showing
live action crop shots of the men and women working hard
t o m a ke t h e m o v i e p o s s i b l e . A s h o t o f a h a m m e r i s a l l y o u
need to know that construction went into the production of
the film. And hand playing a piano is more than enough to
suggest the musical contribution.

The legend of the motion title gets a call out in this st yle-
frame. His minimalistic designs are graphic and surprisingly
reveals a lot of information about the charac ters. This will
be a ver y busy frame of moving characters, reminiscent of
an anthill. This styleframe is supposed to suggest the hectic
complexit y on the same scale.
