ABSTRACT
In the present scenario users who learn driving are facing the problem to control the speed of vehicle in the critical
situations. So there arises the need for electronics to build the system which allows users to set the speed limit given
by the system. We are designing a electronic cruise control system which has input from the user so as to control the
speed of the vehicle in the minimum range. In the existing systems the air intake into the intake manifold of the
vehicle is controlled by accelerator pedal so this creates problem for initial learners of driving to control the speed
in the frustrated situations so we are with the solution that the vehicle runs with the minimum speed if user press
the provided switch otherwise the vehicle runs with the usual speed.
Keywords: ArduinoBoard, TPS sensor, throttle body, servo motor.

1.INTRODUCTION
We are concentrating on the speed control of the vehicle to make a user friendly system. Here we are checking the
initial speed of the vehicle when the accelerator pedal is pressed and setting two limits to the user by the switch
provided to the user. When the user presses the switch the signals are sent to the controller so that it sets the speed to
the minimum limit. A desired speed is selected by the driver and a control system operates on the throttle to maintain
the desired speed. For the driver this approach is acceptable when the traffic is light, however if the traffic is heavy the
driver is tasked with constantly adjusting the set speed in order to maintain distance from the preceding traffic, and
may have to disengage the cruise control. The function of intelligence cruise control is to provide automatic control of
speed of the vehicle in accordance to the needs of the user in order to increase the utility of cruise control systems.

Figure 1 Block diagram of cruise control system

The above figure shows the block diagram of cruise control system. The input to the controller is pedal, TPS sensor,
wheel speed and switch. In the context of releasing the switch the vehicle runs with all the speed levels in this situation
there will be maximum air flow and maximum fuel content into the intake manifold so that rich mixture will be
generated. For this operation fuel and air control into intake manifold are directly dependent parameters on the pedal
input. When the switch is pressed the minimum speed required by the user is set so that vehicle tends to move in
minimum speed to avoid accidents. In this context only the required angle of the throttle plate is adjusted so that

depending on the air content required amount of fuel is decided by the controller and injected into the engine for
complete combustion in order to reduce emissions. By this switch control input the speed of the vehicle is controlled.

5.DISCUSSION / ANALYSIS
By this project we will control the speed of the vehicle to a constant speed as set by the user. So that the user is also in
the protected environment to handle the vehicle in critical situation and feels self satisfied of using the system whenever
it is necessary. This system is useful in saving the life of many people who learn driving and also useful for the aged
persons to drive vehicle at constant speed without any confusion when they are in critical situations.

6.CONCLUSION
By using electronic cruise control we can effectively control the speed of the vehicle so as to minimize the accidents and
there by implementing this system in the automobile vehicles which is also user-friendly system for initial learners of
driving and also helpful for people who are need of speed control whenever it is necessary.
