in some early 1992 crown victorias.

E9TZ1992 2005 Pan magnet. This magnet attaches to the pan and attracts metallic debris in fluid circulation. This magnet is very strong and would be well suited to hold heavy papers $4.22

to a refrigerator or dishwasher door. This magnet is also used in numerous other ford transmissions including the E4OD, 4R100, AX4N, 5R55S, etc.
Notes:
To make the 1-2 shift feel firmer via an accumulator spring change, install a higher rate spring on the top and a lower rate spring on the bottom. For an extremely firm shift, the bottom spring can be
removed entirely, but this will result in very hard shifts on light throttle application too.
The molded rubber style pistons were introduced into production crown victorias part way into the 1997 model year. Many early 1997 vehicles still used the older style aluminum pistons with rubber
o-rings that were prone to fluid leaks and case bore wear. If you are changing accumulator springs, order new pistons too. And if you have an early 1992-1996 vehicle, you should consider replacing
the pistons with the later revision 1997+ bonded rubber design to prevent transmission damage in the future.
If changing the filter, inspect the valvebody closely to insure that the old filter seal ring has been completely removed from the sump port. If the old seal is inadvertently left in place and a new filter
installed, low apply pressure will result in damaged clutch friction material when the vehicle is driven.
If you live in an area of the country where chloride salts are used during the winter to keep the roads clear of snow and ice, it would be a good idea to lubricate the pan bolts a couple days ahead of
time with some penetrating oil. Snapping a bolt and having to drill it out and then helicoil the hole will greatly complicate a fluid change project.
If you are servicing a 1992-1995 crown vic, you should consider upgrading to the deep sump fluid pan and filter. Part #'s F6AZ-7A194-A and F6AZ-7A098-A This will help prevent fluid
starvation to the clutches during hard turns and other evasive maneuvers. Also, if you need a new pan for a 1992-1995 vehicle due to collision damage or corrosion, you will be forced to do this
upgrade since the older style pans are no longer avaliable from ford as service parts.
