Rebate application instructions, terms and conditions

A. Rebate Qualification Requirements

1. Install and operate a qualified Solar Domestic Hot Water (SDHW) System in an existing NJ
residential single family home.
2. The residence must currently be serviced by one of the following electric utilities: Atlantic City Electric,
Jersey Central Power & Light, Public Service Electric & Gas and Rockland Electric Company.
3. Rebates are available for systems purchased on or after 9/9/09.
4. A list of qualifying systems can be found at www.NJCleanEnergy.com.
5. Solar Domestic Hot Water Heater must be installed by a contractor with a NJ Home Improvement
Contractor's (HIC) License, participating in the SDHW Program.
6. Application must be postmarked within 120 days from the date of purchase.

1. Keep copies of all above required documents. If the contractor is submitting the rebate documents
for you, we suggest you request your set of copies to be mailed to you simultaneously.
2. Attach a copy of itemized sales receipt showing proof of purchase (marked paid if proposal).
3. Mail application form along with the above documents to:

C. Important Terms and Conditions


1. Participating contractors have to meet minimum training requirements, follow manufacturer
installation guidelines and provide warranty service as specified by the program.
2. Contractors are required to either be certified by the North American Board of Certified Energy
Practitioners (NABCEP) or have prior industry experience with SDHW installations and have completed
either an Interstate Renewable Energy Council (IREC) accredited or manufacturer SDHW training.
3. The contractor must provide the customer with a signed, completed Solar Water Heating Self-
Inspection System Checklist.
4. Contractors are required to comply with state and local plumbing, electrical and building codes and
regulations and other requirements applicable under federal, state and local authority.
5. The system must be installed in accordance with the manufacturer requirements.
6. Responsibility for proper sizing of equipment, as well as delivery and workmanship related to any
equipment or services the customer procures, rests exclusively with the contractor selected by the
customer. New Jersey's Clean Energy Program (NJCEP) provides no oversight or control over any
contractor services related to this program.
7. Applicant must agree to an inspection by a NJCEP representative or designee.
8. NJCEP audits its rebate programs as a protection against consumer and/or contractor fraud. Any
attempt to defraud NJCEP will result in automatic rejection of the rebate application and possible
legal action.
9. NJCEP reserves the right to remove any contractor or manufacturer from the approved list for
activities or communications that NJCEP determines to not be in the best interests of the SDHW
Program or of NJCEP.
10. Participants in the New Jersey ENERGY STAR® Homes program and the Home Performance with
ENERGY STAR program are not eligible to receive incentives under the Solar Domestic Hot Water
Pilot Program.
11. It is the responsibility of the customer to assure that all requirements for the rebate are met and that
all required documentation is provided.
12. Please allow up to 120 days from the date New Jersey’s Clean Energy Program receives all
required information to process your rebate.
13. You are urged to seek appropriate consultation concerning any tax liabilities that could be
associated with the receipt of the rebate.
14. NJCEP reserves the right to modify or withdraw this program.
15. Please refer to the website www.NJCleanEnergy.com for updates under New Jersey’s Clean Energy
WARMAdvantage program.
