Things We Wont Regret

Everyone lives with regrets the fruit of choices that we wish we could, do over. Part
of wisdom is having the ability to see and to choose what is best (cf. James 3:13-17).
Consider some choices that Gods word says we wont regret:
Erring on the side of generosity The generous soul will be made rich, and he who
waters will be watered himself (Prov. 11:25). A calloused, stingy heart will eventually
accumulate a lot of regrets. To err on the side of generosity does not mean that a
Christian should be reckless or imprudent in financial matters, but rather that he should
live out the principle that, it is more blessed to give than to receive (Acts 20:35).
Doing the right thing, even when it hurts Lies are usually born out of a desire to
escape painful consequences, but the Bible teaches us to, speak the truth (Eph. 4:15)
and to, put away lying (Eph. 4:25). Jesus was known as One who always told the
truth, even when it meant that some painful consequences would come His way (1
Peter 2:21-23). Obeying Gods voice is always the right thing to do even when it hurts
(cf. Daniel 3:16-18).
Raising our own children Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is
old, he will not depart from it (Prov. 22:6). When there is a choice between career and
child-rearing, the Bible teaches that child-rearing ought to win out every time (Eph. 6:4;
Col. 3:21; Titus 2:4-5; 1 Tim. 2:15). What will it profit a man if he gains the whole world
and loses his family? (cf. Mark 8:36-37). Choosing our kids first might mean that we
miss a few extra dollars in our bank accounts, but what a colossal misfortune to miss
out on raising our own children!
Loving our mate as long as we both live The commitment of marriage is, until
death parts us (Rom. 7:1-4). Too many people give up on such a commitment and
instead begin to entertain thoughts like, perhaps this marriage was a mistake, or, I
havent yet found my true soul-mate. Scripture teaches that love is an active,
conscientious choice that is made daily for the sake of others (cf. 1 Cor. 13:4-8). Well
never regret choosing to love our mates and being truly committed to our marriages.
Thinking about Gods word daily In the grind of life it becomes easy for Gods word
to become relegated to back burner status. After all, we feel like we have many more
pressing issues. Consider the words of Jesus, Man shall not live by bread alone, but
by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God (Matt. 4:4). Or Job: I have
treasured the words of His mouth more than my necessary food (Job 23:12). Well
never regret feeding on the word of God daily!
Talking about the Gospel with someone else Christians are to be seed-planters (cf.
Luke 8:11). We will NEVER see any kind of harvest if we never scatter any seed (cf.
Gal. 6:7). If the Gospel really means anything to us as Christians, then we ought to be
constantly seeking to visit about its message and implications with others. Jesus

Himself declared that His mission was to seek and to save the lost (Luke 19:10). Now
thats a decision that nobody will ever regret!
