THE PAIN OF PATIENT HIV/AIDS DISEASE

HIV/AIDS is one of a kind deadly disease human in the world. Human Immunodeficiency
Virus Infection and Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (HIV/AIDS) a collection of
symptoms and infections or syndrome that happened from destruction of the human immune
system. Then, the virus makes anyone who indicated this disease will weaken immunity in the
human body, and it is called HIV virus. This disease can be transmitted to all people. The
transmitted from direct contact between the contaminated blood transfusions or with unprotected
sexual intercourse and also from mother during pregnancy, delivery or breastfeeding. Whoever can
be affected HIV/AIDS , never know the ages. Even, not only adults who can indicate HIV/AIDS
but the baby or children can also be indicated this virus. So, how the virus can attack human life
and make a pain for anyone who indicated HIV/AIDS and it can kill human slowly.
Many people when knew them indicated by a virus HIV/AIDS feel psychological burden
in themselves. HIV/AIDS is not physically visible but the virus that can paralyze and kill them
slowly. Then, they also feel the pain from the social side and it can make to be frustrating, because
discrimination they receive from their environment. This is a woman from Indonesia who indicated
HIV/AIDS. The name is Miriam from Timika, Papua province, she was an employee of the
Government of Papua and she asked the people to be tolerant with people that indicated HIV/AIDS
and apply reasonable and not looking at them as "scary ghost". She did not know that she was
infected with HIV/AIDS. The virus was flowing into her body of her beloved husband, who is
likes change partners in sexual intercourse. Even, she also instead of transmitting to her baby from
breast milk. Miriam was deeply shaken, moreover the baby that her loves also become a victim of
the disease. She dissolves in deep sadness, a feeling of emptiness, the mind empty and her days
were filled with tears and regret. And then, make her body condition declined rapidly. The impact
of HIV/AIDS in their social environment also have an impact on the economic side of them.

People with HIV/AIDS cannot do his job to the fullest, or even to lose a job because poor physical
condition, so the potential loss of their income. In other hand, HIV-AIDS patient have to spend a
considerable cost for medical care, it will impact on the quality of life the patient HIV/AIDS. This
is Lastri, patient of HIV / AIDS since 2000. She said, ugly stamp (stigma) that given to patients
increasingly difficult for them to survive naturally. She was a worker at one of the industry in Java,
and she could be toughened when know many other, more serious disease than HIV/AIDS. So that,
she was not concerned about when the owner the factory where he worked unilaterally dismiss her.
The reason is an owner knows Lastri HIV / AIDS. So, she is not being able to go medical care
because she lost her job. And after that, it all will have an impact on their psychology. They feel
the pressure on all sides and coupled with the feeling that death would be closer to haunt them.

psychosocial. Patients who are diagnosed with HIV/AIDS will experience physical problems,
psychological, social , and spiritual . A psychological problem arising is the stress, self-confidence,
and anxiety. So, desperately needed a big motivation for patients HIV/AIDS. This is a private

past, because he was taking drugs. It makes his feelings were destroyed and also the feeling that
death is getting close to him. He experienced a very traumatic in after he knows has HIV. And he
needs now is a great support from the people around him. So, we can see how HIV/AIDS can
make a pain, traumatic, and pressure in their life.
The latest number of AIDS cases Indonesia period January to September 2011 there were
1805 cases. They said the data is the data of cases of HIV / AIDS which only appear on the
surface. There are still many cases were not detected, because there are many people who are
infected with HIV but do not want to do the HIV check-up. This is because people are afraid and
ashamed to do it. Feelings of fear and shame that arise can be happened because of the stigma and
discrimination. Then, it can be seen from the data of AIDS cases nationwide in the last 3 years.
In 2006, from 13,424 cases of HIV / AIDS, as many as 54.76 % of the cases among the younger
generation. Whereas in 2007 , 17207 cases of HIV / AIDS as many as 6,301 cases are young
people age 15-29, and it is a productive age. Which at that age their time to study hard and work
hard, to get the achievement and success but HIV/AIDS they become less productive. Certainly
have an impact on their economic side. In Indonesia from the results of qualitative research
conducted by Iskandar in 2008 there are 6 patients with HIV/AIDS in Jakarta obtained overall

depressed. Related research conducted in Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital obtained more than half
of patients with depression is 51.1 %. So, that HIV/AIDS is not a common disease, which
indicated whoever will definitely feel the weight and pain in their live.
Social Ministry (2011) states, a person infected with HIV/AIDS can be very broad
impact in social relationships, with family, relationship with friends, and networks will change
either quantity or quality. People living with HIV AIDS naturally social relations will change. The
most severe impact is felt by their family and other close persons. Changes in social relationships
can be positive or negative effect. Surely, reaction of each person is different. Carlos Avila Figueroa and Paul Delay (2009), said The global economic crisis and also the state of four million
people living with HIV / AIDS are low and middle income receiving antiretroviral treatment. This
situation led to increased unemployment, reduced well-being of people living with HIV AIDS,
particularly in poor countries with high HIV-AIDS sufferers. And after that Patients suffering
from AIDS showed psychological disorders such as stress and depression shown by feelings of
sadness , hopelessness , pessimism , feeling themselves fail , not satisfied in life , feels worse than
the others , the low valuation of the body , and feel helpless (Jeffrey, 2006: 157).
So, that HIV/AIDS is a deadly human disease that can attack human immunity. Every
people can be indicated by HIV/AIDS, ranging from adult, baby or children. Where they will feel a
pain, not only physically but rather feel pain in their psychology. Many people who indicated HIV/
AIDS feel the burden on the social, economic and even psychology side. From the employee of the
government, factory workers and private employees also indicated HIV/AIDS. Then from the data,
Indonesia is one of country that every year suffering from HIV/AIDS is increasing case. One of
which indicated that the age of 15-29, where is the highly productive age. After that, someone who
indicated HIV / AIDS will have an impact on their social relations, and it will continue to the
economic crisis and rising unemployment because a social communities still taboo with
HIV/AIDS, so they will avoid people indicated it. In the end that pain they feel, sometimes they
have to feel ostracized, disposed within the societies. Even their own certainly do not want
indicated HIV/AIDS but it is destiny in their live. Therefore we as young generation, support is
always those who indicated HIV/AIDS, because they are not trash that can our waste but they are
also human beings who want to live, work, side by side with everyone. There's nothing wrong with
them, they are still ordinary human remains healthy.
