II. GOVERNANCE

enriching the processes of Executive training and Management Development on
the one hand Research & Cosultancy on the other. This is evident from the fact that
during early eighties while holding the position of Executive Director BHEL
Haridwar plant, employing nearly 14000 employees (with nearly 1.5 lakh
population in the BHEL Township), Mr. Saran enabled establishment of a Degree
College and setting up of the DPS as add-ons to the 19 School’s operated by BHEL
in the town. His involvement at the same time in improving the Research &
Development and Productivity & Quality standards for the employees of BHEL at
all levels – executives, supervisors and workers, gave him great insights for making
Training & Education more effective and development driven. Recognising his
talents and interest, the BHEL Board involved Mr. Saran in developing the
Management Development Institute of BHEL in New Delhi. His academic interest
and developmental nature caught the eyes of many an Industry associations and
bodies like the NPC and ASCI and he became a well known speaker and visiting
faculty to Universities and Training set-ups not restricted to India but extended to
other countries like Japan, Thailand, Nepal and Singapore. He has to his credit
publishing of more than 20 papers. Later his interest took him to visit Institutions
like the Harvard Business School, the MIT, the Manchester Business School and
the International University of Japan on study missions during 1992-94 prior to his
establishing the EMPI Business School at New Delhi in 1994 of which he became
the founder Honorary President. Emphasizing on the need for job oriented
education the EMPI Business School admitted 10+2 pass-outs for Entrepreneurial
cum Vocational training at under-graduate level. In 1995, a separate set-up under
the title of “Entrepreneurship Management Processes International – The
Management Institute” for imparting Post-graduate Diploma in Business
Management after obtaining due approval from the AICTE.
b. Dr. P. C. Mittal
Founder Vice Chancellor, erstwhile EMPI University, Raipur; Dr. Mittal has been
the former Dean Raipur Medical College, Raipur and has been the Advisor to
Minister for Medical Education (Chhattisgarh), Ex nominated Member of
Executive Council, Pt. Ravishankar Shukla University, Raipur. Prior to retirement
as Dean Medical College, Raipur in 1999 he has accumulated 36 years of Teaching
Experience including 33 years at Post graduate level and guiding 45 Thesis for
Master’s Degree & published / presented 25 research papers. His 15 years of
administrative experience as HOD include 5 years at higher level as Joint Director
& Dean of the Medical College. As member of Selection Committee of State
PSC’s and All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi, and President of
State Societies, his visits abroad include assignments to USA as WHO
distinguished fellow in the fields of “Preservation of Blindness” and Australia as
VGC delegate. His achievements include Dr. WAGLE’s ORATION AWARD in
the field of “Preservation of Blindness” successfully managing the 2 lacs to 2.5 lacs
eye patients in Bhopal Gas Tragedy in 1984 as HOD, Eye Department Medical
College, Bhopal.

Dr. Rao has more than 35 years of experience as a Marketing Executive does in
one of India’s largest Engineering Company (BHEL) operating internationally.
Having handled exports world-wide, he brings enormous wealth of current
knowledge in International Business with continuing interest in academics, he is
serving as a visiting faculty to prominent institutions in Europe as well as in India.
Dr. Saksena’s more than 10 years of experience includes serving as Director on the
Boards of (i) Oil & Natural Gas Corporation Ltd. (ii) Indian Oil Corporation Ltd., (iii)
Gas Authority of India Ltd., (iv) Oil India Ltd., (v) Dredging Corporation of India, (vi)
Hindustan Shipyard Ltd., (vii) Indian Road Construction Corporation, (vii) Delhi
Transport Corporation, (ix) Hooghly Docking & Port Engineers Ltd.(x) Mughal Lines
Ltd., (xi) Trustee Kandla Port Trust, (xii) Member Inland Waterways Authority of
India and also as Trustee of P.F. Gratuity Fund & Pension Fund of Oil India.
While serving with the Govt. of India in the Ministries listed below, Dr. Saksena brings
with him experience of working on the Empowered Standing Committee / Steering
Committee and Award Committee in IOC, ONGC, GAIL and OIL.

Mrs. Natrajan is M.A. in English and Diploma in Nathirangam, has been a well-known
proponent of performing arts. She was the founder Principal of Bharat Natyam Dance
School at Haridwar and has been throughout involved in social work.
Dr. Kumari, a Ph. D. in Sanskrit has served the Dayalbagh Educational Institute (a
Deemed University) for more than 35 years. A dedicated academician involved in
teaching and research, she is devoting her post-retirement in social work.

A trained Industrial Engineer. Mr. Gauba has more than 35 years of experience with
both Public & Private sector where he held leading management positions including
MNCs like FAG Bearings and Temic. He is currently the CEO, handling the operations
of Daimler Benz subsidiary in China.

Merit list is made on the basis of marks scored on various parameters and
selection is made on the basis of overall merit.
With EMPI’s emphasis on assessment of overall personality carried out through its day
long Assessment Centre Exercise, relaxation in minimum criteria may be considered by
the Admissions Committee where the overall personality assessment is found
outstanding on majority factors.
