Relief Work: Medical

A team of 6 doctors from Sewa International
rendered service in Jalbire, Agaam,
Tenglakot villages of Sindhupalchok district.
They performed 8 surgeries, attended
patients with injuries from earthquake, fever,
diarrhea, nausea, cough, and common
cold, and handled a delivery at the camp
at 3 a.m.
Volunteers aided doctors and hospital staff
with handling corpses, embalming with
chemicals, packing the bodies in the bags
carefully, and then loading them into vans.
Another batch of volunteers assisted in
taking patients to the right doctor or
specialist, and providing them with the right
medicines.

It was too painful to watch the dead bodies lined up at the entrance of Teechid
Hospital,
Kathmandu. The identification is in progress and the searching relatives
and friends have emotions varying from anxiety to pain

Relief Work: Operations

As first responders to the disaster, over 400
volunteers were deployed in teams of eight to
find survivors, help in hospitals, and distribute
necessary supplies.
Volunteers have distributed 10,000 tarpaulins for
temporary shelters, 10,000 blankets, safe
drinking water, dry food packets, and basic
medications.
Shri Dattatreya, Shri Sunil Ambekar, and a
group of volunteers reached the villages with
relief material. The people belonging to the
tribes Tamang, Lama, and Magar were shying
away from receiving the relief material
because of their innate values of being a hard
working and independent community. The
relief was distributed keeping these values in
mind.
Volunteers also delivered relief-aid to Rasuwa
district bordering China. These volunteers
reached the district headquarter Dhunche with
aid materials including food packets, blankets,
and tarpaulins and distributed to 400 families.

people in the villages are running short of safe shelters as everywhere is rubble. The
The
foul smell emanating from the dead bodies pose an epidemic outbreak threat. The
bereft families of the victim feel relief when they see any new people coming, with the
hope that they would pay heed to their heart-rending stories, or would bring in some
relief materials.
