Mr. Peterson: Well, definitely the weather has changed in the different seasons of the year
since some years ago. It is because the pollution, deforestation, etc. In general, the
damage to the planet caused by the human being is the mainly reason in the change of
the weather.
Sr. Peterson: Bueno, sin duda el clima ha cambiado en las diferentes estaciones del ao
desde hace algunos aos. Es debido a la contaminacin, la deforestacin, etc. En general,
el dao al planeta causado por el ser humano es la razn principalmente en el cambio de

Mr. Peterson: Well, the weather forecast for that year is not good. The rainy periods will
be longer than today. It will cause more flooding than today. There will be higher
temperatures that will kill
animals, plants or human beings.

Mr. Peterson: Yes, of course. We can do many things. We can plant trees, we can generate
less garbage, we can decrease pollution. Big factories or companies can take some
measures, too. The governments in the world can contribute to solve this problem. If
everybody does something there wont be a big problem.

Our planet is composed of more water than soil. About the 97% of all the water on earth
is salt water. 2% is frozen water and only about 1% is fresh water. Thats the reason to
take care of this vital liquid.
Nuestro planeta se compone de ms agua que tierra. Sobre el 97% de toda el agua en la
tierra es agua salada. 2% es agua congelada y slo el 1% es agua dulce. Esa es la razn
para tener cuidado de este vital lquido.

Water pollution
We have many natural resources but water is the most important of them. However most
of the time we dont take care of it. We waste a lot of water; also we pollute it with
different substances. For example, at home we use soap powdered that often contains
chemicals with non-biodegradable molecules; this means that the molecules dont break
down naturally, so they will stay in the water indefinitely building up the toxic levels.
People use other substances at home that are very toxic for water and for the human
being. This toxic water goes to the rivers, lakes or oceans and it affects marine creatures.
Oceans are polluted from oil spills, too. Pollution in the oceans is a big problem that

directly affects ocean organisms. So, oceans are the mayor carriers of pollutants because
they spread rapidly and travel all over the world via inter-connected seas.
La contaminacin del agua
Tenemos muchos recursos naturales pero el agua es el ms importante de ellos. Sin
embargo la mayora de las veces no tomamos el cuidado de l. Perdemos una gran
cantidad de agua; tambin contaminamos con diferentes sustancias. Por ejemplo, en el
hogar que utilizamos en polvo de jabn que a menudo contiene sustancias qumicas con
molculas no biodegradables; esto significa que las molculas no se descomponen de
forma natural, por lo que se van a quedar en el agua indefinidamente la construccin de
los niveles txicos. La gente usa otras sustancias en el hogar que son muy txicos para el
agua y para el ser humano. Esta agua txica va a los ros, lagos u ocanos y que afecta a
las criaturas marinas. Los ocanos estn contaminados por derrames de petrleo,
tambin. La contaminacin en los ocanos es un gran problema que afecta directamente
a los organismos del ocano. As, los ocanos son los portadores alcalde de
contaminantes, ya que se extendieron rpidamente y viajan por todo el mundo a travs
de los mares interconectados.

Life in the future.
Life in the future will be very different from today. People wont clean their houses. There
will be robots to do our tasks. They will mop the floors, wash the dishes and clothes or
they will take care of the babies. People will enjoy wonderful vacation in Mars or Jupiter.
There wont be cars; we will travel in space ships. There wont be any traffic jams or
pollution. There wont be books or notebooks; all students will use personal computers.
There will be big hotels and houses in the moon. We will live in floating houses. There will
be more space to plant trees and flowers.
La vida en el futuro.
La vida en el futuro ser muy diferente del actual. La gente no va a limpiar sus casas.
Habr robots para hacer nuestras tareas. Ellos trapear los pisos, lavar los platos y la ropa
o que se har cargo de los bebs. La gente va a disfrutar de unas vacaciones
maravillosas en Marte o Jpiter. No habr coches; vamos a viajar en naves espaciales. No
habr ningn atascos de trfico o la contaminacin. No habr libros o cuadernos; todos

los estudiantes usarn computadoras personales. Habr grandes hoteles y casas de la

ANIMALS IN DANGER
The main causes of the endangered species are:
Hunting
Human carelessness
Pollution
Habitat loss
Unwelcome strangers
Asian Elephant. This is a big endangered specie because the ivory
poaching. Also, the loss of habitat contribute to the extinction.
Black Rhinoceros. They are extremely rare today. The main attraction for
hunters is the rhino horn.
Mountain Gorilla. The destruction of forest habitat is the main reason for
the reduced population because there are probably 600 mountain gorillas
in Central Africa.
The Giant Panda. The main problem has been the low quantity of food,
stems of bamboo. The most of the giant beers live in special reserves.
Mexican Wolf. It is the most important cattle predator and it causes
economic loss so people kill them. May be there are around 109 wolves
living in a special reserve. The free surviving wolves live in Chihuahua and
Durango now. There are some of them in zoos

ANIMALES EN PELIGRO
Las principales causas de las especies en peligro de extincin son:

La prdida de hbitat
extraos no deseados
Elefante asitico. Esta es una gran especie en peligro debido a la caza furtiva
del marfil. Adems, la prdida de hbitat contribuir a la extincin.
Rinoceronte Negro. Ellos son extremadamente raros en la actualidad. El
principal atractivo para los cazadores es el cuerno de rinoceronte.
Gorila de montaa. La destruccin del hbitat forestal es la principal razn de
la reducida poblacin, porque hay probablemente 600 gorilas de montaa en
el frica central.
El panda gigante. El principal problema ha sido la baja cantidad de alimentos,
tallos de bamb. La mayora de las cervezas gigantes viven en reservas
especiales.
Lobo mexicano. Es el depredador de ganado ms importante y causa
prdidas econmicas para que la gente que se maten. Puede ser que hay
alrededor de 109 lobos que viven en una reserva especial. Los lobos

sobreviven libres viven en Chihuahua y Durango ahora. Hay algunos de ellos

en los zoolgicos

Mario: Ella tiene razn. Ahora estoy estudiando para ser maestro. Voy a trabajar en una

Sandra: That sounds great. Well, I will have two children. My husband and I will have our
own business.
Sandra: Eso suena muy bien. Bueno, voy a tener dos hijos. Mi marido y yo vamos a tener
nuestro propio negocio.
Karla: Congratulations.

Paulina: What are you going to do next weekend?
Paulina: Qu vas a hacer este fin de semana?
Elisa: On Sunday Im going to visit a museum and the zoo with my boyfriend.
Elisa: El domingo voy a visitar un museo y el zoo con mi novio.
Linda: Im going to clean my bedroom in the morning. In afternoon Im going to visit my
grandparents.

Linda: Voy a limpiar mi habitacin por la maana. En la tarde me voy a visitar a mis
abuelos.
Paulina: What about Sunday? Im going to celebrate my 18th birthday. Im going to have a
big party.
Paulina: Y el domingo? Voy a celebrar mi 18 cumpleaos. Voy a tener una gran fiesta.
Elisa: Oh! Thats true. Well, I dont have anything to do on Sunday. What about you,
Linda?
Elisa: Oh! Es verdad. Bueno, yo no tengo nada que hacer el domingo. Y t, Linda?
Linda: Well, I have a date with the dentist but Im going to cancel it.
Linda: Bueno, tengo una cita con el dentista, pero voy a cancelarlo.
Paulina: Perfect! Im going to invite many friends. What about you? What will you do to
celebrate your 18th birthday? When will it be?
Paulina: perfecto! Voy a invitar a muchos amigos. Y tu? Qu vas a hacer para celebrar
tu cumpleaos nmero 18? Cundo ser?
Linda: I will celebrate it next year. I think I wont have a big party. I prefer a trip. I think I
will visit the south of the Mexican Republic. I have to save money.
Linda: Me va a celebrar el prximo ao. Creo que no voy a tener una gran fiesta. Yo
prefiero un viaje. Creo que voy a visitar el sur de la Repblica Mexicana. Tengo que
ahorrar dinero.

Hello! Im Francisca. I want to tell you about my town. My town is big and very
interesting. It is clean, pleasant and touristic. There is a big forest where you can do
many activities like going to camp. Also, you can ride horses or fish in the lake. You can
get there by bus or by car. You can stay in a small hotel or in a cabin. The weather is
warm and sunny. In winter it is very cold and sometimes it is snowy. In the town there is a

big market and some stores where you can buy handicrafts or souvenirs. I think my town
will be a very big city in 20 years time.
Hola! Soy Francisca. Quiero decirle a usted acerca de mi ciudad. Mi ciudad es grande y
muy interesante. Es limpio, agradable y turstico. Hay un gran bosque donde se pueden
hacer muchas actividades como ir al campamento. Adems, se puede montar a caballo o
pescar en el lago. Se puede llegar en autobs o en coche. Usted puede permanecer en un
pequeo hotel o en una cabaa. El clima es clido y soleado. En invierno es muy fro ya
veces est cubierto de nieve. En la ciudad hay un gran mercado y algunas tiendas donde
se pueden comprar artesanas o recuerdos. Creo que mi ciudad sea una ciudad muy
grande dentro de 20 aos.

I think my town will be a very big city in 20 years time. It will be more touristic because of
the ecotourism. There will be a big zoo and an ecological reserve. There will be a
museum, a hospital, libraries, book stores, parks, etc. There wont be poor people. There
will be many schools. Also, there will be more jobs; there will be factories or companies
where people will work. There will be big supermarkets. There will be more methods of
transport. I think my town will be better.
Creo que mi ciudad sea una ciudad muy grande dentro de 20 aos. Ser ms turstico
debido a la ecoturismo. Habr un gran zoolgico y una reserva ecolgica. Habr un
museo, un hospital, bibliotecas, libreras, parques, etc. No habr gente pobre. Habr
muchas escuelas. Adems, habr ms puestos de trabajo; habr fbricas o empresas en
las que la gente va a trabajar. Habr grandes supermercados. Habr ms medios de
transporte. Creo que mi ciudad sea mejor.
