MY PARENTS
ACKNOWLEDGEMENT
It gives me extreme pleasure to place on record indebtedness and sincere gratitude
to ER. IMRAN AHMAD (Lecturer), Department of Civil Engineering, Integral

University, Lucknow whose excellence guidance, helpful comments, timely

suggestions, constant encouragement, stimulating discussion and constructive
criticism have enabled me to complete this project.
Words failed me, when I think of all, that my parents have done for me.
Throughout my life they have always been a constant source of inspiration and
whose constant admonitions help me in my academic pursuit. Their sacrifice,
prayers and good wishes made me to reach this stage. I salute them.
I sincerely thank ER. SABIH AHMAD (Head & Professor) who has been
continuous source of aspiration to me.
I am highly indebted to the teachers and lab staff of this Department for their
support.
I wish to thank our entire project partner for their kind encouragement during our
work.

PREFACE
We feel great pleasure and gratitude in submitting the project. It requires modern
and good knowledge of recent theory to help in making the project more

economical. In this project we have explained the term dissolved oxygen,

importance of dissolve oxygen for human being and aquatic life and also its
significant role in environment. We have also explained phenomenon of DO
mixing with water. This project also includes the different process of determination
of DO in contaminated water sample and lab test. We had also performed an
experiment by Winkler method to find DO of a sample in University. In this
experiment had used a redox (reduction-oxidation) titration to determine the
amount of dissolved oxygen in water samples. It is often done in conjunction with
a precipitation titration to determine the amount of chloride. For both titrations,
the reactions occurring with the dissolved oxygen and chloride will result in color
changes, therefore providing a natural end point indicator and finally gives the
DISSOLVED OXYGEN.
I am heartily thankful to my teachers especially all faculty member of civil
engineering department for their cooperation. Without their guidance the
completion of the project would have been impossible.
The experience we have gained by putting our hard work in an environment of
almighty, cooperation will certainly serve as means of encouragement in future.
