WHAT: Summer Food Service Program
WHEN: Beginning June 1, 2015
WHO: Children at-risk for hunger
FACTS: Americas Second Harvest of Coastal Georgia has been a leader in initiatives to reduce
childhood hunger since it established Kids Cafe in 1989, twenty-six years ago. Summer feeding is
essential to ensuring proper nutrition for children at-risk for hunger since they do not have access
to free or reduced-price school lunches when school is out of session. This summer, the food
bank will provide over 53,000 balanced meals for children, at-risk for hunger, in Appling, Bulloch,
Chatham, Effingham, Evans, Liberty, Tattnall, Toombs, and Wayne Counties.
Second Harvest is pleased to announce our sponsorship of the U.S. Department of Agriculture
funded Summer Food Service Program to ensure nutritious meals for children of low-income
families in our area.

Americas Second Harvest of Coastal Georgia is participating in the Summer Food Service Program. Meals
will be provided to all eligible children free of charge. (To be eligible to receive free meals at a residential
camp, children must meet the income guidelines below for reduced price meals in the National School
Lunch Program.) Children who are part of households that receive food stamps or benefits under the Food
Distribution Program or Indian Reservations (FDPIR), or Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF) are
automatically eligible to receive free meals.
Acceptance and participation requirements for the program and all activities are the same for all
regardless of race, color, national origin, sex, age or disability, and there will be no discrimination in the
course of the meal service.
In accordance with Federal law and U.S. Department of Agriculture policy, this institution is prohibited from
