Pile Installation
Fall 2015 through Summer 2016*
First major construction activity of subway at La Brea.
Length of pile installation will be on Wilshire from Orange Dr.
to Detroit St.
Pile installation includes:

Rig to construct 95ft (L) deep hole on 7 center to center spacing


Crane lifting 95Ft (L) , 24 Inch H-piles into holes
1-2 piles per day, 390 piles total
Drilling, pile installation and backfilled concrete completed same
day

All work occurs behind a K-rail.


Operation anticipated to take approximately 4 months on
each side of the street.
Wilshire will be reduced to two lanes each way during
construction.

Noisy activities re-scheduled from night to day work or to be completed by
11 p.m. Activities are monitored throughout each shift.
Torch cutters used in place of traditional plate cutters.
Additional sound blankets placed when needed.
Solar energized lights are utilized to eliminate noise from generators.

Business Interruption Fund (BIF)

Metro Board established a pilot BIF for small mom and pop businesses located
along Section 1 of the Purple Line Extension, CLAX and Little Tokyo area of Regional
Connector

For-profit business or non-religious, non-profit organizations


Small mom and pop businesses -25 or fewer total employees
Located immediately adjacent to the rail corridor and directly impacted by Metro rail
construction (property line abuts or faces the rail corridor, a designated construction staging or
construction storage area)
Businesses that meet technical requirements such as but not limited to:

At least two years of continuous operating history along the project corridor

Must be solvent

Good standing with local, state, and federal taxing and licensing authorities

Able to produce relevant financial records demonstrating a loss of business revenue


directly related to the period of construction
Special provisions for commercial property owners
