Previously unreleased session by Duke Ellington & His Orchestra recorded in Cologne on July 9th 1970 by Conny Plank. Duke Ellingtons
musical works are seemingly well documented; the likelihood of finding a good, unreleased Duke Ellington recording is slight at best.
When Grnland Records called and told me they had found exactly that in Conny Planks estate and asked me if I wanted to give it a
listen, I felt pretty honored, and excited. The music of Duke Ellington is in my worldview to jazz what Bachs oeuvre is to classical
music: THE great benchmark, or to raise it up onto an even higher pedestal the Old Testament, the alpha and omega. With both
Bach and Ellington, you can sit down at a piano simply to go through it building chords and something great always happens. This music

recent years, the best American music festivals have moved onboard specially chartered cruise ships sailing from the U.S. to the Caribbean,
Mexico, and elsewhere. One of the first and most successful of these, Roger Naber's Legendary Rhythm & Blues Cruise, is now considered
the true "Woodstock of the Waves," offering, as it does, the finest in traditional and contemporary music along with the same sense of
"peace, love and community spirit" most often associated with late '60s rock festivals. At the same time, these "Blues Cruises" are a
welcome contemporary refuge for artists who once performed in juke joints and Chitlin' Circuit clubs throughout the South, most of which
have now disappeared. In January of 2007, Legendary's "Blues Cruise" to the Caribbean featured more than 70 performances (Taj Mahal,
The Fabulous Thunderbirds, Otis Clay, Buckwheat Zydeco, Tommy Castro, Tab Benoit, Deanna Bogart, Lil' Ed & the Blues
Imperials, Commander Cody Band) and 14 special guests (Bobby Rush, Ronnie Baker Brooks, Earl Thomas). It also featured
daylong stops on the gorgeous islands of St. John, St. Barth's, and Grand Turk, two of which hosted additional concerts, and one a unique

Finnish power metallers BURNING POINT are an active part of

. In November '84 he officially changed his name to John Cougar

Mellencamp, his album Uh-Huh climbed to US#9, while "Crumblin'
Down" again enters the top 10. In February 1984 "Pink Houses"
became his biggest single to date hitting number 6. During the
recording of Uh-Huh, Mellencamp's backing band settled on the
lineup it would retain for the next several albums: Kenny Aronoff on
drums and percussion, Larry Crane and Mike Wanchic on guitars,
Toby Myers on bass and John Cascella on keyboards. Indeed it was
this band - which in 1989 Rolling Stone magazine called "one of the
most powerful and versatile live bands ever assembled" - who hit the
road with John in March for the mighty Uh Huh Tour.

Through repeated listens to Gray Lodge Wisdom that sentiment

becomes crystal clear via plaintive, sprawling folk odes
confronting the light, the dark, and the void between those two
spectrums. Stratton moved cross-country from Brooklyn to
Washington state for his convalescence, fashioning an ad-hoc
recording studio in his parent's basement in between
chemotherapy infusions to lay to tape the songs that would make
up Gray Lodge Wisdom. Stratton made his way back east to
Brooklyn in late 2013, booking time at Queens recording studio
The Buddy Project to put the final touches on an album he
stresses was really a collection of memories and aspirations
rather than a manicured, cohesive statement.

Striking the right tone is important for Will Stratton. Over the
course of five full-length albums, several online-only releases
and national attention from outlets like NPR, Stratton has strived
to impart a balance between the eloquent lyrical perspectives
festooning his music, and his ever-evolving approach to multitiered folk. So when his new LP, Gray Lodge Wisdom, was
written and recorded while Stratton underwent a year of
chemotherapy, several extensive surgeries, and other treatment
stemming from a diagnosis of late-stage testicular cancer in
2012, Stratton is understandably conflicted about the way his
new record might come across. "I hope that this doesn't come
across as a Record About Cancer, because it's not," explains
Stratton. "I think that it informed the process and the sound of the
record more than it affected the content of some of the songs."

This collection represents Joe Meek's early years, concentrating on

the music he produced [and in many cases composed, albeit usually
under one pseudonym or another] while working for labels and music
entrepreneurs prior to his setting up of his legendary, independent
Holloway Road studio RGM, in 1961. From Big Bill Broonzy's
scorching blues to Humphrey Lyttelton's ground breaking Jazz and
taking in Peggy Seeger, Eric Winstone, Lonnie Donnegan, Johnny
Duncan, Red Price and numerous others, this 2 CD set illustrates
perfectly how Joe Meek was pivotal in developing all genres of
British music in the late 1950s and through much of the 1960s.
These tracks have never previously been compiled together.
Beginning his professional career in 1963 in a little-known blues

band that included pop vocalist Jackie DeShannon, Ry Cooder has
become a mainstay in the California studio scene, as well as
developed into one of brightest stars on the "Americana" radio
format. After trying and failing to gain fame and fortune in a band
called Rising Sons in 1965 (with band-mates Taj Mahal and Ed
Cassidy, who later formed Spirit), he was brought in to do session
work for artists as diverse as Captain Beefheart, Randy Newman,
Little Feat, Van Dyke Parks, Gordon Lightfoot and numerous others.

Heading to Spain in 1985 to flee the disaster that was the
implosion of The Clash Mark Two, the band, formed in the wake
of Strummer firing Mick Jones, had already got rid of drummer
Topper Headon. The new line-up's 'Cut The Crap' album had
largely been shunned by both critics and the public alike and
Strummer needed space. Telling a Diario De Granada
interviewer that he had come 'to feel the pain of the wound', upon
arrival in Granada Strummer found himself firmly subsumed into
the city's musical and cultural fabric. He was welcomed with
open arms by local acts 091 and bigger-fish Radio Fartuna, who
all met at the city's Silibar. 'When we met Joe it was like a
miraculous apparition', said Jose Ignacio Lapido, 091's guitarist.

The Blueblack Hussar is Adams latest persona and, so

emboldened, the film shows him embarking on his first tour for
15 years with a new backing band, The Good, the Mad and the
Lovely Posse. For the first time since his Punk roots, Adam is
captured playing with a young, hungry band, and collaborating
with the likes of Boz Boorer (Morrissey, The Pole Cats, etc). The
film includes electrifying live performances, starting at Londons
100 Club and culminating at Hyde Park before an audience of
55,000. Jack Bonds fly on the wall direction includes intimate
scenes of Adam at home, backstage and even getting a new
tattoo.
The film exposes Adams complex personality through the
characters he interacts with on his journey, who include Amy
Winehouse, producer Mark Ronson, Jamie Reynolds of The
Klaxons and the legendary Pop artist Allen Jones (A Clockwork
Orange), Adams art student days mentor.
The Blueblack Hussar also follows his escape to Paris to record
with his Bardoesque backing singer, Twinkle and the enigmatic
film star, Charlotte Rampling, who inspired his first album, Dirk
Wears White Sox.
