Determining Sensitivity

Overview
Sensitivity computes and generates a summation report that shows the
effects of various cutoff values on the following variables when you
input the initial cutoff value, final cutoff value, and incremental steps
for sensitivity:

Sensitivity Report
You can use the Sensitivity report to vary the cutoff percentage and to
show the effect of the cutoffs by depth or by unit.

Main menu contains the File, View, Tools, and Help menus.

Input Curves panel enables you to specify curves for porosity,

volume of shale, and water saturation; to indicate minimum,
maximum, and incremental cutoff percentages; and to specify the
units of measurement for the report.

Units panel contains a list of the units defined within the selected
well(s).

Generate Sensitivity Report button generates the report.

Status Area contains information about the status of a report as

you build it and as it is generated.

File Menu
The File menu enables you to select one or more wells and to exit the
Sensitivity window.

View Menu
The View Menu contains the Clear Status Area and Curve Details
(Single Well Only) options.

Tools Menu
The Tools Menu contains the Curve Focus option, which is an easy way
to apply curve names to parameter fields. The Curve Focus window
contains a list of curves from the selected wells. If you position the
cursor in a parameter field and then select a curve from Curve Focus,
the curve appears in the field.

Generating a Sensitivity Report

Use the following steps to generate a Sensitivity report:
1.

Choose File Select Wells.

The Select Wells dialog box appears. If you had specified a current
well, it is highlighted.

Select one or more wells and click on OK.

2.

Now, complete the Input Curve parameters.

Click in the Porosity field to anchor the cursor in it.
Specify the curve by either typing the curve name or by
selecting Tools Curve Focus and selecting a curve from the
list.

To view curve details (name, service company, run, pass, and

version) for a single well, select View Curve Details (Single
Well Only) from the Sensitivity main menu.

Type cutoff percentages for the Porosity curve into the

Minimum, Maximum, and Increment fields.
The initial cutoff value must be the smallest, and the final cutoff
value must be the largest.
3.

Click in the Shale Volume field and type a curve name or use
Curve Focus to select a curve.

4.

Type cutoff percentages for the Shale Volume curve into the
Minimum, Maximum, and Increment fields.

5.

Click in the Water Saturation field and type a curve name or use
Curve Focus to select a curve.

6.

Type cutoff percentages for the Water Saturation curve into the
Minimum, Maximum, and Increment fields.

7.

Complete the Report parameters.

Specify the depth type for the report by clicking on the Depth
Units toggle button and selecting Feet or Meters.
Select one or more units from the Units list. The list contains
only those units defined for the selected wells and chosen in
accordance with a source priority list for the current interpreter.
See the Prioritizing Data chapter of this module.

8.

To generate a report, click on the Generate Sensitivity Report

button or select File Generate in the Sensitivity window.

If the Report Viewer is open, Sensitivity displays the report in

it.

Communicating Between Landmark Applications

You can communicate between applications via the Pointing
Dispatcher. The OpenWorks (PD) (Pointing Dispatcher) allows you to
import wells from other Landmark applications into Summation. You
can send and receive wells, as long as the PD frame is listening.
Press Ctrl-l to activate/deactivate the PD utility. When the PD border is
green, PD is listening for other well data. When the border is red, PD is
deactivated for this application.
Iconified windows can receive information.
You can PD information to a window that is iconified as long as the border on the
icon is green. If the iconified window is a StratUtil application and the border is red,
you can use the key combination Ctrl+l (lowercase letter L) or click on the
iconified window and select PD Listen from the menu that appears to turn the
border green and to enable listening capability.
