And some might think that her obsession is a borderline psychological disorder as it is not only atypical but also disturbing and unjustifiable. Unfortunately it isnt maladaptive. And based on the medical model it could be cured if it was a medical disease. Some time in a psychiatric hospital might help Cyrus. One could only assume that from the bio-psycho-social perspective what biological, psychological and sociocultural factors could produce such a condition. The DSM-IV by the American Psychiatric Association still doesnt know how to classify this twerking issue. Theres a chance that the twerking problem is a neurotic disorder, as Cyrus can still think rationally (debatable) and function socially. Theres a lesser chance that Cyrus has a psychotic disorder, while she doesnt experience distorted perceptions, twerking is just plain irrational. Some people have developed anxiety disorders from watching Cyrus twerk, their symptoms are characterized by a persistent, distressing anxiety and/or maladaptive behaviors in society. After seeing her twerk, some people might think they have developed a generalized anxiety disorder as theyre continually tense, apprehensive and their autonomic nervous system is continually in arousal. Those who see Cyrus twerk for the first time can develop a panic disorder if they arent ready. These people usually experience some combination of chest pains, choking or other frightening sensations. Some think that twerking is Cyrus response to an unknown phobia, or disorder that is marked by constant irrational fear and avoidance of a specific object/situation, that can be warded off by the shaking her butt at them. Cyruss twerking is probably a response to an obsessive-compulsive disorder or maybe even the disorder itself. She might be constantly thinking that shes not getting enough attention. She can be calm one second and try seducing anything in sight the next, which is a sign of a mood disorder. After twerking, Cyrus sometimes develops a major depressive disorder, where she feels depressed, worthless and has no interest/pleasure in most activities. Whenever she twerks, Cyrus has a manic episode where she becomes highly optimistic, but about what Ive no idea. Cyrus constant switch from depression and mania is possible evidence for bipolar disorder, formerly called manic-depressive disorder. People who twerk have sometimes been reported to lose their memories, thoughts and feelings from their conscious self, a condition known as dissociative disorder. In between twerking sessions, Cyrus is rumored to show symptoms of dissociative identity disorder, becoming a whole different person who is distinct from her usual abnormal self, still weird though. Others who twerk might suffer symptoms of schizophrenia which include disorganized and delusional thinking (that theyre attracting others), as well as inappropriate emotions and actions, and sometimes even disturbed perceptions. And suffers from the delusion that she has massive influence on the youth of today. That twerking could be an enduring, inflexible behavioral pattern that impairs social functioning. In this case that would mean Cyrus has a personality disorders
