Aim of Mother Teresas activities:

The Particular End is to carry Christ into the homes and

streets of the slums, among the sick, dying, the beggars
and the little street children. The sick will be nursed as
far as possible in their poor homes. The little children will
have a school in the slums. The beggars will be sought
and visited in their holes outside the town or on the
streets.

In a word, act of charity of Christ amongst the poorestand so make them know Him and want Him in their
unhappy lives.
Page 74
The poor are bitter and suffering because they have not
got the happiness that poverty should bring if borne for
Christ.

My little one-come-come-carry me into the holes of the
poor.- Come be My light-I cannot go alone- they dont
know Me-so they dont want Me. You come-go amongst
them(poor), carry Me with you into them.-In your
immolation-in your love for Me-they will see Me, know
Me, want Me.- Jesus to Teresa. Page 98

Take care of them(poor) - they are mine - bring them to

Jesus - Carry Jesus to them- Fear not. Teach them to

If you were in India, if you saw what I have seen for so
many years, your heart too would long to make Our Lord
better known to the poor.
Teresa to Mother Gertrude, page 106.
To enable me to do this kind of work, a life of prayer and
self-sacrifice is necessary: to approach the poorest
among the poor one must become like unto them, to
attract the poor of Christ, complete poverty is essential. Teresa to Cardinal Perfect of the Sacred Congregation
of Religious Rome. Page 115
There are millions who live in Indian cities and villages in
ignorance of God and of Christ, in abominable
sinfulness. We shall bring them to Christ and Christ to
them.

My Consultors and I wish you every blessing and
success in the new work for the salvation of souls for
which you are now preparing for Patna. - M. Pauline

Those who join this institute (Congregation of the
Missionary Sisters of Charity), therefore, are resolved to
spend themselves unremittingly in seeking out, in towns
and villages, even amid squalid surroundings, the
poorer, the abandoned, the sick, the infirm, visiting them
assiduously and instructing them in the Christian
Doctrine, in endeavouring to the utmost to bring about
their conversion and sanctification. - Decree of erection
by Archbishop Perier. Page 139
You see, the aim of our Society is to satiate the thirst of
Jesus on the Cross for love of souls by working for the
salvation and sanctification of the poor in the slums.
Everyone and anyone who wishes to become a
Missionary of Charity- a carrier of Gods love- is
welcome, but I want specially the paralysed, the
crippled, the incurables to join, for I know they will bring
to the feet of Jesus many souls.
Teresa to Jacqueline de Decker. Page 147
I think many of our sick & suffering would be sanctified
much quicker if they suffered to satiate the thirst of
Jesus. - Teresa to Archbishop Perier. Page 153
If God sends sickness- that is His own look out- but I

dont think we have [the] right on breaking our health.

them to God. Teresa to MC Sisters. Page 220

Jesus to others. Teresa to Sisters. Page 229
The physical situation of my poor left in the streets
unwanted, unloved, unclaimed- are the true picture of
my own spiritual life, of my love for Jesus, and yet this
terrible pain has never made me desire to have it
different.-Whats more, I want it to be like this for as long
as He wants it. Teresa to Father Neuner. Page 232
To be able to proclaim the Good News to the Poor we
must know what is Poverty. Teresa, Charity: Soul of
Mission. Page 234

without God- no prayer- no faith- no love. Teresa to
Father Neuner. Page 250
He took on our sins that is why He was rejected by the
Father Because God cannot accept sin and Jesus had
taken on sin-He had become sin. Do you connect your
vows with this Passion of Jesus? Do you realise that
when you accept the vows you accept the same fate as
Jesus? Teresas Instructions to Sisters. Page 251.

The old man asked for a cigarette and how beautiful of

God- in my bag there were two packets of [the] best
cigarettes. A rich man gave them to me that morning in
the street. God thought of this old mans longing. Teresa
to Archbishop Knox. Page 254
I love them [Sisters & Poor] as I love Jesus- & now as I

is only feelings- for my will is steadfast bound to Jesus &
so to the Sisters & the Poor. Page 257

today. I have never seen so much suffering- so much
pain and without complaint. -I only saw an open Calvarywhere the Passion of Christ was being relived in the
