As Vice Chancellor for Global Affairs at SUNY, I continue to be honored to work
with a system that has such a highly developed commitment to internationalization.
SUNY has extraordinary and creative international study opportunities which have
been developed by our colleagues, administrators and faculty, across 64 campuses.
It goes without saying that experience abroad can be among the most formative
that any students has during his or her college experience. Never before has an
understanding of customs, languages, politics and economics ever been so crucial
to the future of our nation.
To this end, the State University of New York is continuing its commitment to
expand academic programs throughout the world. We continue to work to make
education abroad an accessible, viable, secure and rewarding option for our
students. SUNY offers an incomparable array of study abroad opportunities,
with nearly 600 programs in more than 50 countries. We truly lead the nation.
Our students can study subjects ranging from anthropology to music composition
to zoology, at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Our campuses partner

Program Description: Pontificia Universidad Catlica
Argentina (UCA) is one of the largest private universities
in Argentina. Located in Puerto Madero, the central
campus is accessible by colectivo (bus) and subte (metro),
and is a short walk from the city's historical and financial
districts, yet offers quiet surroundings. It is only a few
blocks away from a 1,000-acre natural preserve. The
University offers courses in: Economics, Commerce,
Marketing, Business, Political Science, International
Relations, Law, Engineering, Computer Science,
Philosophy, Literature, History, Music and Musicology,
Education, Journalism, Institutional Communications,
Advertising, Agriculture and Theology.
Eligibility Requirements: Students who have completed
at least two full-time semesters of college level study are
eligible. Minimum GPA of 2.5 required. Must have
completed Int Spanish II prior to participation.

Program Description: The University of Adelaide is
Australia's third oldest and most prestigious "Ivy League"
University. The Australian Government ranks the
University of Adelaide in the top group of Australian
Universities for teaching, curriculum development, and
research. Adelaide is the capital of South Australia and is
the gateway to the Australian Outback, the ideal place to
study and live. Participants will have the opportunity to
enroll in regular university classes at the University of
Adelaide. Prior to departure, participants select three
courses from those available to study abroad students at
the University of Adelaide. All instruction is by
University of Adelaide faculty. Fall semester typically
runs from mid-July through November; spring from
mid-February through June. Fields of study include

University of Ballarat

Program Description: The University of Ballarat (UB)is
located in the city of Ballarat, a city of some 90,000
residents located about 1.5 hours from the city of
Melbourne in the state of Victoria. Students direct enroll
with Australian students. The University of Ballarat has
two campuses at which U.S. students generally study: the
Mt. Helen Campus and the Camp Street Campus.
Students wishing to study in the following disciplines
attend class at the Mt. Helen Campus, located
approximately 8 km from downtown Ballarat: Social
Sciences and Humanities, Business, Education, Human
Movement and Sport Sciences, Information Technology
and Mathematical Sciences, Nursing, Science and
Engineering. Internships are also available in a variety of
disciplines. Human Movement 510 (HM510) is available
to international students studying at UB. This course
introduces students to Australia through a variety of field
trips and weekend excursions focused on outdoor
activities. The Camp Street Campus, located in
downtown Ballarat, is dedicated to Studio Art, Graphic
Art and Design and the Performing Arts. A limited
number of Art History courses are available, too. UB
offers a special curriculum in Australian studies designed
specifically for international students. There are various
combinations of courses designed to fit the academic
requirements of students from a number of majors. For

Griffith University

Program Description: Located in and around Brisbane,
a city of more than one million people located near the
coast in the state of Queensland, Griffith University has
six campuses offering courses in a wide variety of
disciplines. The Queensland Conservatorium of Music
and the Queensland College of Art are part of Griffith
University and are located in Brisbane's well-known art
precinct on the South Bank of the Brisbane River. A
myriad of course offerings from a wide range of
disciplines are offered at Griffith's other campuses:
Nathan and Mt. Gravatt (17 km from the city center;
Logan (approximately a half hour from downtown
Brisbane) and the Gold Coast (about an hour's drive
south of Brisbane, near Surfer's Paradise.) Griffith is an
excellent choice in particular for students interested in
art, music, cinema, communication, health, science,
business, sport management and exercise studies and
psychology. Other course offerings are available. For

Bond University

Program Description: The most important fact you
should know about Bond University is that it follows an
academic calendar similar to the US semester system. The
school year offers three full time semesters: SeptemberDecember, January-May and May-August, unlike most
other Australian universities whose semesters are
February-July and July-November. It also offers shortterm programs during the summer. Bond is located on
Australia's famous Gold Coast, a seaside city in the state
of Queensland that attracts visitors all year around due to
its warm climate and ocean setting. An hour away, you
will also find one of Australia's largest and most vibrant
cities - Brisbane. As one of Australia's newest
universities, Bond emphasizes personalized instruction,
the importance of an international student body and
innovative courses and teaching methods. At Bond, you
will directly enroll into regular university courses for the
full-time Fall, Spring and Summer Semesters. Bond also
offers shorter summer programs in Australian Studies for
less credit. Fields of study during the full time semesters
include: business, communications and media studies,

Program Description: Deakin is one of Australia's
largest Universities. Deakin is divided into five campuses,
three of which are located in metropolitan Melbourne.

physical education, and social sciences.

Program Description: The University of Melbourne is
located in Melbourne; the capital sity of Victoria.
Melbourne is Australia's second-largest city, famous for
its relaxed, friendly atmosphere, its multi-cultural
population, and outstanding cuisine, all of which add to
the city's exceptional and unique quality of life. The
University of Melbourne is Australia's second oldest
university, with a prestigious worldwide reputation for
academic excellence in a wide range of subjects. The
University is surrounded by shops, restaurants, art
centers, libraries, sanctuaries, and beaches. Participants
will have the opportunity to enroll in regular university
classes at the University of Melbourne. Prior to
departure, participants select three courses from the
courses available to study abroad students at the
University of Melbourne. All instruction is by U of M
faculty. The academic year has two 13-week teaching
semesters followed by 4 weeks allocated to a one-week
review "vacation" and a 3-week examination period.
Typically, fall semester runs from mid-July through
November and spring from mid-February through June.

Program Description: In addition to a limited number
of exchange slots, this program also offers a study abroad
option that is not restricted by the number of Australian
students coming to Buffalo. The University's Australian
Studies program facilitates study of all things Australian:
past, present, and future. The main campus, set on 300
acres of natural bushland, combines a country setting
with the advantages of city living. The first semester
begins in late February; the second semester begins in late
July. Fields of study include Aboriginal studies,
anthropology, architecture, biotechnology, broadcasting,
business, communications, computer science, earth
science, ecology, economics, education, engineering, fine,
visual and performing arts, gender studies, geography,
health, history, humanities, information technology,
journalism, language (Chinese, French, German, Greek,
Japanese, and Latin), law, leisure and tourism, linguistics,
literature, math, natural and physical sciences, nutrition,
philosophy, physical education, political science,
practical classroom experience, psychology, religion,
social work, sociology, and speech pathology.

Murdoch University

Program Description: A friendly environment and
beautiful surroundings await students who choose
Murdoch University. Situated where the wide Swan
River enters the Indian Ocean, Murdoch has easy access
to both the cosmopolitan environment of Perth, the
capitol city of Western Australia, and the port city of
Fremantle, with its sidewalk cafes and street performers.
Participants enroll in regular university courses and live
on campus in the Student Village with Australian and
other international students. The semesters run from
February to June and from July to November. Fields of
study include Aboriginal and Asian studies, biological
and environmental studies, marine science, business,
communication and media studies, creative writing,
economics, history, literature, psychology, sociology,
women's studies, and more. The International Office at
Murdoch provides excellent support and organizes
excursions to the Australian Outback.

Program Description: The University of Western
Australia is the state's premier educational institution.
The campus, with its distinctive Mediterranean
architecture, has established itself as a unique landmark.
Extensive gardens, the University's art gallery, museums,
theaters and sporting facilities are all features of UWA's
exceptional campus. Participants will have the
opportunity to enroll in regular university classes at the
University of Western Australia. Prior to departure,
participants select three or four courses from the courses
available to study abroad students at UWA. All
instruction is by University of Western Australia faculty.
Typically, fall semester runs from mid-July through
November and spring from mid-February through June.

Program Description: Bond University is located on
Australias famous Gold Coast 50 miles south of
Brisbane. The study facilities are world-class,
incorporating high-tech lecture theatres, the latest
broadband and Wi-Fi computer connections, and
libraries that are ranked among Australias best. Bond
University has a distinctly global perspective, aspiring to
a 50:50 ratio of Australian to international students.
International students come from 80 countries, evenly
weighted so that no nationality dominates.

Program Description: The University of Sydney is the
oldest and most prestigious university in Australia with
an international reputation for excellence. Its main
campus is located in a prime area of the city with access
to the spectacular harbor and beaches, beautiful botanical
gardens and parks, museums, cinemas, and theaters.
Participants have the opportunity to enroll in regular
university classes at the University of Sydney. Prior to
departure, participants select three courses available to
study abroad students at the University of Sydney. All
instruction is by the University of Sidney faculty. The
academic year consists of two 14-week teaching
semesters, followed by 2-3 weeks of exams. Typically, the
semesters run from mid-February through June (spring
semester) and mid-July through November (fall
semester). Fields of study include area studies, liberal arts,
and social sciences.

Program Description: The University of New South
Wales is located in Sydney, Australia's largest and one of
the world's most cosmopolitan cities. The modern, urban
campus has extensive sporting and recreational activities
to complement the University's essential quality and its
worldwide reputation for academics and research. At
UNSW, you will directly enroll into its normal courses
alongside Australian and other international students.
UNSW maintains housing for study abroad students that
are located off the campus, but which are also close to
some of the city's many beaches. Fields of study include
Aboriginal and Australian studies, architecture, computer
science, economics, education, engineering, film and
media studies, finance, geography, geology, history,
industrial design, languages, law, linguistics, marine
science, math, natural and physical sciences, philosophy,
political science, psychology, social sciences, sociology,
visual and performing arts, and women's studies.

AUSTRIA
University of Graz German Language and Culture

Program Description: Situated in the Alpine foothills,
Graz is Austria's second largest city and a gateway for
commercial relations with South Eastern Europe. It is a
lively city with a rich tradition of music and theater and
easy access to Alpine recreation. Courses, designed
specifically for students with two years of German,
include history, international relations, language, and
literature. Regular university courses are available for
students with sufficient German, including
anthropology, archeology, computer science, earth
sciences, ecology, humanities, information technology,
linguistics, math, natural and physical sciences,
philosophy, religion, and social sciences. Participants
may request placement in mini-internships.

BELIZE
Belize Internships

Program Description: Belize, formerly known as British
Honduras, is a tiny country in Central America with a
population of approximately 277,000. It is politically
stable and English is the first language. It borders Mexico
and Guatemala. Its largest city, Belize City, is on the
Caribbean and the barrier reef located a mile off the coast
is the second largest in the world. The country offers
rainforest, mountains and flatlands; as well as a
multicultural population of Maya, Spanish, British and
Creole extraction, to name a few. Belize Internships
offers students the opportunity to work with various
governmental, non-governmental, and international
organizations and agencies in a supervised setting. The
program is coordinated academic mentors who are
assigned to assist each intern. Living in this developing
country affords students both rare insight into Belizean
culture and practical training in their field of study.
Internships are graded on a satisfactory/unsatisfactory
basis and are unpaid. Internships are available in
anthropology, archeology, broadcasting, business,
communications, earth sciences, ecology, economics,
health, health science professions and technologies,
journalism, linguistics, natural and physical sciences,
nutrition, physical education, social sciences, and sports
science. Housing is with families. An in-depth
orientation is provided prior to departure and again
during the first week after arrival in Belize.
Eligibility Requirements: Junior or Senior status; 2.5
GPA; above average maturity and independence; strong
recommendations; good academic standing

Program Description: Nanjing University, one of
China`s key comprehensive universities under the direct
supervision of the Ministry of Education, dates from

Arabic courtly tradition of chaste love poetry, and the
mystical philosophy of the Sufis of al-Andalus all found

Program Description: Imagine visiting the coldest,
windiest, driest, most remote, and least understood
continent on Earth, one that is undoubtedly the most
fascinating to the human imagination. Students in the
program earn 6 upper-division credits (three credits for
an online portion during the fall semester and three
credits for the Antarctica "field trip" over the winter
break). Coursework is in the subject of "Human Impacts
on a Fragile Ecosystem". All majors are encouraged to
apply as we take an interdisciplinary perspective to
examine contemporary issues in Antarctica. While on the
field trip portion of the program, students will travel on
an expedition ship equipped with a fleet of Zodiac
landing crafts, allowing students to take daily excursions
ashore to explore the spectacular scenery and close
encounters with wildlife.
