RESUMEN
Este estudio de campo se bas en la identificacin de tipo bovino y su
caracterizacin como trypanotolerantes (TT) y trypanosusceptibles
(TS) a T. vivax en base a marcadores fenotpicos: clnicos,
parasitolgicos, hematolgicos, serolgico e inmunolgico; as como
su asociacin al tamao promedio de los animales, determinado por
variables morfomtricas. En base a la evaluacin realizada en 790

SUMMARY
The present yield study was carried out in order to identify type
bovine and their characterization as Trypanotolerant (TT) and
Trypanosusceptible (TS) animals to T. vivax based on phenotypic
markers: clinicals, parasitologicals, hematologicals, serological and
immunological evaluations; as well its association with average
corporal frame of animals determined by morphometrics variables.
Were identified three animal types according their size: small
(41.58%), medium (26.67%) and large (29.75 %), by evaluation of
790 bovines (females of two or more calving and males random
selected) in 20 herds located at Apure, Aragua, Barinas, Cojedes and

INTRODUCCIN:
La Trypanosomosis bovina debida a Trypanosoma vivax es uno
de principales problemas sanitarios en ganadera de doble propsito
en la Repblica Bolivariana de Venezuela con nfasis en rebaos
ubicados en los estados de la regin de los llanos centrales, con
valores de prevalencia oscilando entre un 25 % a un 50 %,
determinado por mtodos parasitolgicos directos (frotis de sangre y
de
capa
blanca
coloreados,
Woo,
QBC)
y
serolgicos
(inmunofluorescencia
indirecta,
aglutinacin
capilar,
ELISA)
(Tamasaukas et al., 2006).
El trmino Trypanotolerancia viene dado porque los animales
son capaces de mantener los valores del hematocrito y controlar la
tasa de crecimiento de la consecuente infeccin, por lo que son
considerados indicadores de esta condicin gentica y hereditaria
(van der Waaij et al., 2003).
