The Jubilee cycles and the events which they parallel reflect how Yahweh often
intervenes in this earths history. However, Yahweh also uses heavenly signs to show
us what is coming. Often, those heavenly signs will in some way or another line up
with either the Hebrew calendar or the larger yardstick (the Jubilee Calendar).
The modern world tends to think of comets, eclipses, and like phenomenon as
interesting celestial eventsbut having no purpose and representing no signal, sign,
or omen from the Creator. However, in ancient times this was not the casethey
strongly believed in the signs of heaven. Events of this type were given great
consideration. They were considered signs of good fortune, impending disaster, or a
change of government. If you believe in the Bible, they were also considered signs or
harbingers of some great cataclysmic event. Note what it says here in this gospel
account from the words of Yahushua Messiah:
And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the
earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring; Men's hearts
failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the
earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken. (Luke 21:25-26)

Please notice that the signs in the sun, moon, and stars are directly linked with the
distress on earth of the nations. What this text is directly inferring is that when there
is a sign in the heavens it will be directly reflected by events on this earth. That is not
the same as astrology, for astrology teaches that the heavens control our lives
whereas, in Scripture the signs are used as warnings so that we can take heed and
begin to correct our lives. As we have mentioned earlier, the account of Genesis 1
clearly states that not only would the lights in the heavens be given to divide the day
from the night, but also to give us signs:
And the Almighty said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide
the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and
years: (Genesis 1:14)

Eclipses are one example of how Yahweh uses signs in the heavens to attract our
attention, but like most signs they are either ignored or misinterpreted. As eclipse can
be either lunar (which produces a blood red moon) or solar (which produces a
darkened sun).
And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and
your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your
young men shall see visions: And also upon the servants and upon the handmaids in
those days will I pour out my spirit. And I will shew wonders in the heavens and in
the earth, blood, and fire, and pillars of smoke. The sun shall be turned into
darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and terrible day of Yahweh
come. And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of Yahweh
shall be delivered: for in mount Zion and in Jerusalem shall be deliverance, as
Yahweh hath said, and in the remnant whom Yahweh shall call. (Joel 2:28-32)

Recently,
Mark
Blitz
of
El
Shaddai
Ministries
(http://www.elshaddaiministries.us/stipulation), presented his findings regarding the
frequency of eclipses in the next few years (both solar and lunar) and in May of 2008,
J.R. Church of Prophecy in the News published part of his story:
Intrigued with the Scriptures that repeat over and over again that our Saviors
Second Coming will be heralded with signs in the heavens, in which the sun will be
turned into darkness and the moon into blood, Pastor Mark Blitz went on the
Internet, to a U.S. Government web site, to see if he could find any solar or lunar
eclipses over the next few years that might be significant.
To his surprise, he found four lunar eclipses and two solar eclipses in the Sabbatical
Year of 2014 and 2015. Also, he noticed that they all appear on Jewish Holy Days! . .
.This is most unusual. It is a rare occurrence for four lunar cycles to happen on
successive Passover and the Feast of Tabernacles (Sukkot) observances. It will not
happen again for hundreds of years. However, Mark found that a series of four
lunar eclipses on these particular holy days did occur in the twentieth centurynot
once, but twice! The first set occurred in 1949-1950, the year after Israel became a
state! The second set happened in 1967-1968, the year Israel liberated Jerusalem!
Such a phenomenon is nigh unto impossible, unless it was set up by Divine design.
Mark looked back in history and noticed that the last time this set of four lunar
eclipses occurred on Passover and Sukkot was in 1493, the year after Columbus
sailed the ocean blue and Spain expelled all Jews.1

Both lunar and solar eclipses have taken place recently, and are soon to take place in
the near future. These eclipses seem to gravitate around the years 1995, 1996, 1997,
2014, 2015, and 2016. But that is not allthey come at about the time of the feasts
of Yahweh. Please note the dates and years as well as the feasts which are connected

The fact that these eclipses take place at the time of the feasts cannot just be assigned
to coincidence!! Is Yahweh trying to bring our attention to these feasts? What is He
trying to tell us? The obvious answer is thiswe need to start keeping the feasts!!
Another equally valid answer is that He is trying to prepare us for what is soon to
come upon the earth, as well as warn the world that they must let His people (Israel)
go home!!
In addition to a connection between these signs and the feasts, there is another
important connection: It just so happens that 1995 is a Jubilee year, and 2014 is a
Sabbatical year just prior to the year 6000as has already been revealed in my study
of the Jubilee Code, and on my website www.itsaboutthattime.net/. 2015 would be
approximately equivalent to the year 6000 and 2016 would be the start of the 7th
millennium. All of these years are prominent in the Jubilee Calendar, in the Jubilee
Calendar Synopsis, and as explained in this present chapter of The Jubilee Code.

Beside the NASA website, a list of eclipses for the 20th and 21st century can be found here:
http://eclipse.astronomie.info/sofi/activemaps.html)

Eclipses are not the only way Yahweh has been trying to get our attention. He has
also been using comets. For example, in 1997 we saw the comet Hale-Bopp come to
give us a rare visit. As many people know, one group saw the coming of Hale-Bopp
as a sign to leave this earth through mass suicidethe infamous Heavens Gate cult.3
Like so many others throughout history, they saw these signs through their own dark
lensesinstead of recognizing their true purpose.
Is there any history regarding comets as they relate to real events on this earth,
especially as they connect with the history of the Jewish people? Yes, there is.

In ancient times the Babylonians kept track of celestial signs and recorded this
information for future reference. Not only does this give us evidence of how they
regarded those signs, but it also (in many cases) reveals to us the exact time in which
these celestial events took place. We can often determine the exact dates because
celestial events have cycles which can sometimes be tracked and verified within a year,
or in some cases even within a day or two.
One such astronomical event is the cyclical passing of Halleys comet. Not only has
Halleys comet visited us in recent centuries, but also in ancient times. The evidence
for this comes from ancient Babylonian tablets and Chinese records.
A Babylonian astronomical tablet records the passing of what is probably a comet in
the year 164 BCE. This was reported in Nature magazine by F. R. Stephenson, K.K.C.
Yau, and H. Hunger. They began to study these tablets which were lying untouched
in the basement of the British Museum for more than a century. These tables say,
The comet which previously had appeared in the east in the path of Anu in the area
of Pleides and Taurus, to the west . . . and passed along in the path of Ea. of Ea
in the region of Sagittarius, 1 cubit in front of Jupiter, 3 cubits high toward the north.

According to the scholars who translated these Babylonian tablets,4 Halleys Comet
was seen in the month of Kislimu of the Babylonian calendar. The year 164 BCE is,
in fact, the very year that Judas Maccabeees, in a final revolt against the Greeks (lead
by Antiochus Epiphanies), recaptured Jerusalem and began to cleanse the Temple for
divine use. Kislimu is the same month as Kislev in the Jewish calendar, and in fact
the month that Maccabees restored the temple for service. Today it is celebrated as
the festival of Hanukkah, in the month of December, which is the month Kislev of
the Jewish calendar.
Another Babylonian document, a cuneiform tablet labeled BM 41018, indicates
Halleys comet returned in 87 BCE. The Chinese also record the return of Halleys
comet in that year, in the text of Han Shu (written about 100 CE). It says they saw a
sparkling star in the east.5
Based upon more information from the Han Shu document, it is interesting to note
that the next arrival of Halleys comet would be expected around 12 BCE.6 Modern
Biblical chronologists conclude that the death of Herod took place in 4 BCE, so the
birth of the Messiah Yahushua would have most likely been in the year 5 BCE (or
possibly 6 BCE). While this is a seven year difference, it still leads us to question:
Could it be that the star that the wise men saw was none other than Halleys comet?
Or, maybe it was a combination of the comet and another sign in the heavens (one
which came a few years later)?
Regarding the date of the birth of Yahushua, here is some information which may
clarify the issue. Herod was born in 74/73 BCE, which we can determine based upon
the account of Josephus. He says that Herod was 25 years old when he was made
governor, and that date has been determined to be 48/47 BCE.7 Herod died soon
after killing a man named Matthias, and that day is also associated with a known lunar
eclipse.8 His death is listed as near Passover.9 The total eclipse that took place at this
time confirms this finding regarding the date of Herods death, since it was on
September 15, 5 BCE, that this particular eclipse took place. This is also the time in
which the Talmud 10 records an eclipse taking place on Yom Kippur (Day of
Atonement). Therefore, based upon all of this information, Yahushua could not have
been born any later than 4 BCE. It is most likely that he was born in 5 BCE (in the
fall) and less than a year later, Herod died.

About 77 years after the 12 BCE comet (in 66 CE) the next approach of Halleys
comet came, and it is recorded by Josephus as it relates to the destruction of
Jerusalem and the second temple. Astronomers are certain of the date, based upon
two modern Chinese observations as well as the fact that certain events leading up the
destruction of Jerusalem are known to have taken place in 66 CE (according to the
historian Josephus):
Emperor Ming of Han, 9th year of the Yongping reign period, 1st month, day wushen
[20 February 66]. A guest star [ke xing] 8 chi long appeared in Qiannu [9th lunar
mansion]. It passed through Jianxing and reached the south of Fang [4th LM], where
it was extinguished. It was visible for up to 50 days.11

D.K. Yeomans states that the comet sighting recorded in Ho Peng Yoke on January
31 of that same year is a reference to the same comet seen by Emperor Ming (what
we believe to be Halleys comet).12
Halleys comet has now come at least twice in connection with major historical events
in the life of Israel (164 BCEthe retaking of the temple from Antiochus
Epiphanies, and 12 BCEa sign of the coming Messiah). While we have to admit
that the second sign is a little bit questionable (because of the seven year difference in
dates), I am confident that we will discover more parallels as we continue to examine
the historical parallels between Halleys comet and the history of Israel.
As we continue to examine this issue, we find that the next occurrence of Halleys
comet brings us to a major crossroads in the history of the Jewish nation. Here is a
quote from Josephus regarding that next event as it relates to signs leading to the
destruction of Jerusalem, including not only a star, but also a comet (Halleys Comet?),
and other signs in the heavens:
A false prophet [19] was the occasion of these peoples destruction, who had made a
public proclamation in the city that very day, that God commanded them to get
upon the temple, and that there they should receive miraculous signs of their
deliverance. . . . Thus were the miserable people persuaded by these deceivers, and
such as belied God himself; while they did not attend nor give credit to the signs that
were so evident, and did so plainly foretell their future desolation, but, like men
infatuated, without either eyes to see or minds to consider, did not regard the
denunciations that God made to them. Thus there was a star [20] resembling a
sword, which stood over the city, and a comet, that continued a whole year. Thus
also before the Jews rebellion, and before those commotions which preceded war,

when the people were come in great crowds to the feast of unleavened bread, on the
eighth day of the month Xanthicus, [21] [Nisan,] and at the ninth hour of the night,
so great a light shone round the altar and the holy house, that it appeared to be
bright day time; which lasted for half an hour. This light seemed to be a good sign to
the unskillful, but was so interpreted by the sacred scribes, as to portend those events
that followed immediately upon it. . . . Besides these, a few days after that feast, on
the one and twentieth day of the month Artemisius, [Jyar,] a certain prodigious and
incredible phenomenon appeared: I suppose the account of it would seem to be a
fable, were it not related by those that saw it, and were not the events that followed it
of so considerable a nature as to deserve such signals; for, before sun-setting,
chariots and troops of soldiers in their armor were seen running about among the
clouds, and surrounding the cities. Moreover, at that feast which we call Pentecost,
as the priests were going by night into the inner [court of the temple,] as their
custom was, to perform their sacred ministrations, they said that, in the first place,
they felt a quaking, and heard a great noise, and after that they heard a sound as of a
great multitude, saying, Let us remove hence.13

According to the NASA website calculations, the closest approach of Halleys comet
in 66 CE would have been March 20.14 The actual eighth day of Nisan (Passover) in
66 CE would have been March 21 of that Julian calendar. It is on these dates that
Halleys comet came the closest to the earth, giving a great light in the darkest of the
night. Based upon the account of Josephus, Jerusalem fell because the Jewish people
generally interpreted the comet and other heavenly signs as good omens instead of
evil omens.
In the year 1066, at the battle of Hastings, Halleys comet came again. This time its
coming was recorded in a tapestry made in honor of the eventthe Bayeux tapestry.
The Saxons, under the leadership of king Harold, were completely defeated by
William the Conquerer.15

While this may seem unrelated to the history of the nation of Israel, it must be considered
that the nation of Israel includes also those tribes which were taken captive in about 721 BCE
by the Assyrians. There is evidence which tends to demonstrate that the Saxons are
descendants of those 10 lost tribes (i.e., Saxons = Isaacs Sons).
14

The Bayeux tapestry was made to depict the great victory over king Harold. Next to
the star it says Isti mirant stella, meaning, They wonder at the star. [For more

Clearly, the return of a comet has been interpreted to mean a change is coming
often times violent, always important. The sad thing is that some groups (like the
Heavens Gate cult) take it to extremes and use it to justify criminal activity).
Regardless of that, here is the most important thing we need to notice: comets have
often come just before a significant event in history. This is especially true regarding
the Jewish people, however, others may be included also. The Messiah came in
connection with some type of heavenly sign (possibly Halleys comet), the second
temple was polluted by Antiochus Epiphanes and restored at the time Halleys comet
came, and that same temple was destroyed and over a million Jews killed about 3
years after the return of Halleys comet. It is as if Yahweh purposely made these
events to be in alignment with the coming of a comet (more often Halleys comet).
Would it amaze you to find out that Yahweh gives signs in the form of comets that
sometimes even align with both the Hebrew calendar and the 49 year Jubilee
calendar?

10

Signs in the Hebrew Calendar

In Grant Jeffreys book, Armageddon, Appointment with Destiny, he gives eight
examples of disastrous events taking place on a certain date of the Jewish calendar
the 9th of Av. This in itself constitutes an amazing sign (even without heavenly signs
to accompany it):
1.

The 12 spies returned with a bad report on the 9th of Av. (c. 1435
BCE).

2.

Solomons temple was destroyed by the Babylonians on the 9th of

Av (c. 587 BCE).

3.

The second temple was destroyed by the Romans in 70 CE on the

9th of Av.

4.

In 71 CE the Roman army plowed the city of Jerusalem with salt on

the 9th of Av.

5.

Bar Kochba was killed and his army destroyed on the 9th of Av, in
the year 135 CE.

6.

In 1290 CE, England expelled all Jews from the country on the 9th
of Av.

7.

In 1492, Spain expelled all Jews from their country on the 9th of Av.

8.

In 1914, on the 9th of Av., World War I was declared. In Eastern

Russia, the Russian government began a campaign of severe
persecution against the Jews at the time.

Please notice that in several of these instances Halleys comet came a few years prior
to the actual event. Halleys comet came in 66 CE, about 3 years prior to the
destruction of Jerusalem and the second temple. Halleys comet came again about
1294 which is only a few years after the Jews were expelled from England. And
Halleys comet came once again in 1910 CE, only about 4 years prior to the start of
World War I. Is it all just a coincidence?

11

Comet Shoemaker-Levy, July of 1994

There is one more event which is not given in this list, a very important alignment
between a comet, the Jewish calendar, and the Jubilee Calendar. This single event
alone is so important it needs to be discussed separately from all the others. In 1994,
comet Shoemaker-Levy sent 21 fragments into the planet Jupiter. The event took
place over a period of 6 days, starting on the 9th of Av in the modern Hebrew
calendar.16 It extended from July 16 to July 21. Here are the five ways in which this is
shown to clearly be a major sign from Yahweha great and wondrous sign of the
end:
1.

It came on a day of the Jewish calendar known for terrible events

the 9th of Av. The 9th of Av is most often associated with the
judgments of Yahweh.

2.

It came only about 50 days prior to the start of the next civil year
(Tishri 1). That next year, according to the evidence presented in
the Jubilee Calendar, is a year of Jubilee.

3.

During that event (on July 18, 1994) a major bombing took place in
Buenos Aires at the Jewish Community Center, killing 85 people.
The next day a suicide bombing of a Panamanian commuter plane
killed 12 Jews and 9 others. Seven days later a car bomb exploded
in front of the Israeli Embassy in London.

4.

Shoemaker-Levy began striking Jupiter exactly 49 years to the very

day after the first testing of the atomic bomb on July 16, 1945, at
the Trinity test site near Alamogordo, New Mexico. About two

16

The modern Hebrew calendar is somewhat different from the ancient Hebrew calendar, so
that the start of the month in the ancient calendar was from the first sighting of the crescenta
difference of about 3 days. If we calculate this date (9th of Av) based upon the ancient method,
through the help of a moon calendar program (http://www.paulcarlisle.net/mooncalendar/), we
still find that date intersects the time of the comet, such that Shoemaker-Levy strikes Jupiter
from the 5th to the 11th of Av.

12

weeks later, the bomb was used in Japan, and the nuclear era had
begun. Like 1994, 1945 is a 49th year in the Jubilee Calendar.
5.

Based upon the various evidences presented both here in the

Jubilee Code, and in the Jubilee Calendar itself, the year 1994 is very
likely to be the year 5978 from Creation. When you add 21 years
(each year represented by one of the strikes of Shoemaker-Levy) it
takes you to the year 5999 on the calendar. Clearly, the 21 strikes of
this comet were intended to convey the message that we have 21
years to repent and turn our hearts back to Yahweh prior to the
year 6000.

The First Test of an Atomic Bomb took place on July 16, 1945, exactly 49 years to the
very day before the first fragment of Comet Shoemaker-Levy began striking Jupiter on
July 16, 1994.

Is it valid to say that 21 strikes of the comet represent 21 years? Please notice that
Joseph, when interpreting the dream of Pharaoh, clearly uses this same method of
interpretationwhatever the object is, big ears of corn or fat cows, it is meant to
represent years:
And Joseph said unto Pharaoh, The dream of Pharaoh is one: the Almighty hath
shewed Pharaoh what he is about to do. The seven good kine are seven years; and
the seven good ears are seven years: the dream is one. And the seven thin and ill
favoured kine that came up after them are seven years; and the seven empty ears
blasted with the east wind shall be seven years of famine. This is the thing which I
have spoken unto Pharaoh: What the Almighty is about to do he sheweth unto
Pharaoh. Behold, there come seven years of great plenty throughout all the land of
Egypt: And there shall arise after them seven years of famine; and all the plenty shall

13

be forgotten in the land of Egypt; and the famine shall consume the land; (Genesis
41:25-30)

Does Yahweh make things too complicated? It might seem so, since in some cases
He gives us Bible codes which are difficult to interpret. But Joseph knew what the
dream meant, and because Yahweh has left us a record of the dream of Pharoah and
Josephs interpretation, we can also be certain. With the addition of the Jubilee code
to give a second witness, and the signs in the sun and moon added as a third witness,
this only confirms what I have suspected: the 21 strikes of comet Shoemaker-Levy
represent 21 years. Amazingly, Yahweh has (in His infinite mercy) made it so simple
that a child could understand. 21 strikes represent 21 yearshow simple, yet
profound! The warning is that from the fall of the year 1994 we have 21 years to
prepare for the Day of Judgment. 1994 + 21 = 2015 (in the fall).
Earlier we spoke of the significance of comets, how they are signs sent by Yahweh to
warn us of what is to take place in the future. In the days just prior to the Messiahs
birth, the wise men of the east saw a star (possibly Haleys comet) which foretold the
coming of the Jewish Messiah. About 77 years later, that same comet was seen over
Jerusalem as a warning of what would happen soon to the beloved city. They had 3
years from then to leave but few heeded the warning, and over a million Jews died
in the Roman slaughter.
Today we have been given another comet as a warning concerning not only the
Jewish people, but also the people of the whole world. On the 9th day of Av (July 16,
1994) Shoemaker-Levy sent a direct message to us by exhibiting 21 of the most
powerful explosions ever seen in our solar system by modern man. 21 times over a
period of about 6 or 7 days it sent its strikes into the largest planet in our solar system,
the planet Jupiter. Each of those explosions would have been capable of destroying
our entire planet, if they had been directed toward us. If we put aside all the complex
interpretations and theological confusion, and forget about the secular reasoning that
these are merely natural events with no real meaning, we come to one simple (yet
profound) explanation for this comet. It is indeed a sign from Yahweh. The 21
strikes represent 21 years which, counting from 1994, leads us to the year 2015. The
Jubilee Calendar confirms that this represents the end of the year 5999 from the
Creation of this earth.
The message is clearwe have 21 years to get our act together, repent of our sins,
and come out of this Babylonian system. After that time has expired, judgment
comes to our world. Within about a year from the time (by 2016 CE) the world
enters into the last millennium of life on this earth, a new Messianic Era. The
Messianic kingdom is established where the righteous dwell securely and those few
remaining of the nations must look to Jerusalem for salvation.

14

In ancient times people took the signs in the heavens seriously, to the point that they
would even worship them. However, they often misunderstood and/or over
emphasized the signs so that the intended meaning was lost. Even today this is
known to happen, as we know from the story of the Heavens Gate mass suicide
pack. But let us consider the statement from Messiah where he chided the Pharisees
regarding their understanding of heavenly signs. He was not concerned that they
observed signs in the heavens, but he was concerned that they would either depend
completely on signs or misinterpret the more obvious signs:
The Pharisees also with the Sadducees came, and tempting desired him that he
would shew them a sign from heaven. He answered and said unto them, When it is
evening, ye say, It will be fair weather: for the sky is red. And in the morning, It will
be foul weather to day: for the sky is red and lowering. O ye hypocrites, ye can
discern the face of the sky; but can ye not discern the signs of the times? A wicked
and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given unto
it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas. And he left them, and departed. (Matthew
16:1-4)

Is it possible that we are no better than these Pharisees, asking for signs while all
along the signs are already happening all around usand yet we cannot see them?
Yahweh is not asking us to live in fear of the heavenly signs. He doesnt want us to
worship them, nor does He wish us to ignore them either. He is simply asking us to
repent and return to living by His just lawsHis Torah. It is through the sacrificial
offering of Yahushua our Messiah, who spent three days and nights in the grave (in
fulfillment of the sign of Jonah) that we have been enabled to do this. And when He
returns, He will restore His people to the land of promise to demonstrate how a
righteous nation can live in peace in this world. Of course, along with that happy
occasion there will also be judgment brought upon the world to those who have
continued in rebellion against Yahweh and sought to bring harm to Israelwherever
and whoever they might be.
For the stars of heaven and the constellations thereof shall not give their light: the
sun shall be darkened in his going forth, and the moon shall not cause her light to
shine. And I will punish the world for their evil, and the wicked for their iniquity;
and I will cause the arrogancy of the proud to cease, and will lay low the haughtiness
of the terrible. (Isaiah 13:10-11)
