GENERAL GUIDELINES
Purpose/Scope
This work package encompasses all requirements
for commissioning, both mechanically and
electrically, the Combustion Air/Ventilation System
(w/Evaporative Cooling). The combustion air starts
at the air intake and ends at the exhaust and the
ventilation system starts at the air intake and ends at
the enclosure exhaust.
Precautions
Personnel working with, on, or around the Combustion
Air/Ventilation System should review all applicable
safety guidelines and wear appropriate personal
protective equipment.
When working in elevated spaces, a harness and safety
strap is required.
When entering filter house, do not wear loose articles
such as pens, chains, tools, etc.

Special Tooling - Equipment


Grease Gun w/proper lubricant
Cleaning Equip. (i.e., rags, flashlight, vacuum)
Digital multimeter and signal generator
Hand held pressure pump (up to 1500 psi or above,
vacuum to 30 in-Hg required, standard oil-filled
pump OK)

MECHANICAL CHECKS
1.

Verify dampers are installed in accordance with drawings and operational.

2.

Verify AO dampers are installed in accordance with drawings and operational.

3.

Verify correct rotation of ventilation fans.

4.

Verify flexible connections are installed correctly and all fasteners are tight.

5.

Verify all silencers are installed correctly at both inlet and exhaust ducts.

6.

Verify all ductwork is secure and all fasteners are installed and secure.

7.

Verify all evaporative cooling piping connections are tight and piping is properly
installed.

8.

Verify all equipment is properly lubricated prior to operation.

9.

Verify function of emergency stop buttons.

10.

Verify installation and function of turbine enclosure space heaters.

11.

Verify inlet ductwork construction and installation.

12.

Inspect air inlet ductwork for debris and/or contamination (refer to Inlet Cleaning
and Inspection).

13.

Verify air inlet bell mouth, bullet nose, FOD screen and filter screens are installed
correctly and all fasteners are secure.

14.

Verify inlet filter elements are installed correctly per manufacturers guidelines and
correct filters are in use.

15.

Inspect filter compartments for debris, contamination and preservation (refer to Inlet
Cleaning and Inspection).

16.

Verify evaporative cooler is filled with water to proper operating level. Verify water
meets GE specifications.

17.

Verify filter modules are properly sealed by closing doors and turn off lighting.

18.

Lock filter house access doors.

ELECTRICAL CHECKS
19.

Complete electrical checklist for motors prior to operating fans.

20.

Verify operation of analog and discrete readouts.

21.

Inspect for visible damage to any cable or termination.

22.

Verify adequate distance between power, control, and instrument cables.

23.

Verify conductor connections at both ends; identification labels should be attached


to each conductor.

24.

Verify size and current capacity of conductors is suitable for application.

25.

Verify means of cable protection against mechanical damage at points where cables
leave cable trays or enter package.

26.

Verify grounding connections.


INSTRUMENTATION CHECKS

27.

Perform point-to-point checks using packaged supplied interconnect drawings.

28.

Highlight drawing accordingly and insert signed copy in this section.

29.

Verify operation of analog and discrete readouts.

30.

Verify ranges and set points for all instrumentation listed in TLO Instrumentation
Sheet. Mark each instrument as calibrated or verified in the appropriate column.

31.

Verify functioning of control switches.

32.

Verify the following records have been updated;

TLO Instrumentation Sheet
TLO Interconnect Wiring Diagrams
