Wednesday Night Live (W NL)
Wednesday Night Live (WNL), our mid-week faith-
building event for all ages begins with supper served
from 6:15 to 7 p.m., for a $3 donation. After supper,
WNL transitions into a variety of activities including
Children’s Choir, Middle and High School Youth Ministry
activities, and two adult LIFE Groups. This is a great
mid-week way to connect as a community of faith plus a
break from cooking... so consider giving WNL a try!

cleaning up or just working with a group of fun people?
We can always use more volunteers so if you can help

LIFE Group Update
Spirit of JOY’s small groups are called LIFE Groups. They
meet regularly for Bible study, prayer, and support
using a variety of different curriculum including a follow-
up Bible study connected to Pastor Jeff’s sermon each
Sunday. Copies of this study may be downloaded each
week after worship from the SoJ website:
www.spiritofjoy.org. To get involved in one of
SoJ’s on-going LIFE groups, or to help start a new group,
sign-up at the Welcome Center and our LIFE Group
Coordinator, Jim Zimmerman, will contact you! Watch
online and in the Sunday bulletin for information
about an updated listing of existing LIFE Groups and
about a new LIFE Group initiative being launched
during the Lenten season in February.
Recently Married Couples
LIFE Group
A Recently Married Couples LIFE Group is meeting once
a month on Sunday afternoon at SoJ to do a
DVD/Bible/Book study called Making Love Last a
Lifetime! New couples are welcome! If interested,

Wom en’s LIFE Group Continues
A bi-weekly LIFE Group for women meets every other
Tuesday at 7 p.m. Led by Kristin Melville, the group is
using a Women of Faith book, Encouraging One

Lutheran W om an Today
A group of women meet from September through May
on the 3rd Monday of each month at 7 p.m. in The
Fairways on Highway 50 for Bible study and

Wom en’s Bible Study
This group meets the second Tuesday of the month at
7:15 p.m. for fellowship, faith building, and great
conversation. They are studying the book of Romans
and how it relates to life today. Come join them! Contact

This group meets on the third Tuesday of the month.
Attendance every month is not mandatory, so if you see
that they are going to read a book you would like to

The January 19t selection is a charming novel, The
Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Society by Mary
Ann Shaffer and Annie Barrows. “Revealing much about
the aftermath of World War
II in England, the novel is at once an unlikely love story,
a portrayal of heroism and survival, and a subtle
homage to the bond forged by literature.” Time and
USA Today named it one of the ten best books of the
year. (Charlotte Observer)
The February 16th selection is Olive Kitteridge by
Elizabeth Strout. Anyone who gets in Olive’s way had
better watch out, for she crashes unapologetically
through life like an emotional storm trooper. She forces
her husband, Henry, the town pharmacist, into tactical
retreat; and she drives her beloved son, Christopher,
across the country and into therapy. But appalling
though Olive can be, Strout manages to make her
deeply human and even sympathetic, as are all of the
characters in this “novel in stories”. (Booklist)
