The Technical University of Moldova was established in 1964 and until this
moment is the only higher education institution with engineering profile in the
national education system.
While strengthening the TUMs importance is revealed by significance and
contribution that it had in vocational training of specialists through two historical
periods up and after proclamation of Republic of Moldovas Independence. Starting
with 1992 and to the present, the nomenclature of specialities at TUM was expanded
from 27 to 63 specialities and the number of students from 7300 to 24300.
From the moment the Process of Bologna became active and implemented,
TUM prepares specialists at four levels: bachelor (from 4 to 5 years), masters (1.5-2
years) and doctorate (3-4 years).Interested persons will be able to continue their
studies, based on post doctorate programs. Now, at these three levels, over 17000 of
students are studying, of which 14800 at licence, 2200 at masters and around 200
at doctorate and post doctorate.
Along the 50 years of activity (1964 - 2014), TUM formed above 85000 of
engineers and economists, above 1500 science and habilitatum doctors.
These technical intellectual potential created at TUM ensure development and

Economy and Business. Also TUM ensure research and constructive technological
design institutions with high qualified stuff, thus creating a secure foundation for the
development of national technical culture.
In Universitys Continuing Education Centre, founded in 1994, at TUM was
trained over 38 000 people on different programs of continuing education.
Studies at TUM are performed in Romanian, English, French, Russian language,
including foreign teachers contribution.
The number of employees working at TUM is, of which 870 teachers including
over 410 with scientific degree and PhD, 480 engineers and technician and over 750
staff.

Space technologies targeting industries, manufacturing, transport, communications,
including medicine. Space industry includes not just spacecraft, launchers but also
manufacturing and ground equipment, indirectly influence extends our lives through
communication at home and at work, through safety and security.
Space technology center was created in order to reap the benefits of space technology
and promote them in rows generations of pupils, students, graduates, doctoral
students and aims to support the development of micro-nanosatellite platforms,
command terrestrial infrastructure, and multidisciplinary laboratories for developing,
testing components and systems for satellites in simulated space environments.
CTS-TUM consists of two groups of laboratories for design, develop systems and
components and processing satellite data / images that are endowed with equipment
for remote control of the satellite ground infrastructure:
Laboratory for satellite components development;
Laboratory for development and testing attitude;
Laboratory for data and image processing;
Ground station of telemetric communications satellites;
Earth station for images receiving from satellites;

Astronomical Observatory with CELESTRON telescope.

PROJECT FOR MICROSATELLITE DEVELOPING "REPUBLIC OF

MOLDOVA"
Objective of this project is to promote spatial technology and to disseminate them in
other areas, creating satellites of this class. Launched project at TUM is not an
exception, having the aim of developing a microsatellite, attract more students ,
master and PhD. This satellite mission, although it is an educational one, consists in
capturing Moldovan territory images by means of remote sensing, research of
radiation influential on electronic systems and the Earth's magnetic field researches.
Many teams of teachers, graduate of the Faculty of Radio Electronics and
Telecommunications, Powerengineering, Computers and Computing, Machine
Building in Developing Subsystems Power Supply, Board Computer, attitude control,
orientation and stabilization, radio communications and students participate in the
project.
INFRASTRUCTURE GROUND SEGMENT CENCEPT OF THE SPACE
PROJECT
A terrestrial infrastructure space project is based on a conception of complex
satellites monitoring. It provides telemetric communication satellites, satellite
simulation of the behavior on simulator, visual tracking with telescope and data /
images receiving on terrestrial station with parabolic antenna controled guided from
Space Technologies Center.
Concept aims at researching and testing ways of communication and monitoring
satellites. Telemetric station ensure transmitting orders to microsatellite, requires
them various operating modes and state investigation, telemetry, obtaining parameter
values by short messages.

EARTH STATION TELEMETRY AND SATELLITE IMAGERY RECEPTION

Communication telemetry ground and image receivers stations from satellites is
terrestrial infrastructure of the space projects. This infrastructure is located in TUM
park-museum of art, which enables students to familiarize all TUM specialties
project.

These two distinct nodes first, the telemetric communication, located in CTS-TUM
with antennas on the roof of the block of trials, and the second node, the receiver dish
images are located in a building with special architecture.
CTS-TUM developed an control software of telemetry and parabolic antennas and
with graphic interface of satellite positions monitoring that allow tracking and
communicating with a wide range of satellites, including International Space Station.
This infrastructure is used extensively to promote the space technology. Firstly, in
its development and design attended a large number of students who used the results
of investigations in undergraduate thesis, master, including the doctor.
Secondly, this infrastructure is used to carry out the practical and the laboratory
works in disciplines related to smart grids of radio communications, satellite
communications, which enable to accumulate experience to the young specialists in
this field.
ASTRONOMICAL OBSERVATORY WITH AN CELESTRON TELESCOPE
In order to expand the possibilities of space technology promoting an Astronomical
Observatory was built as a part of the ground infrastructure of the Space
Technologies Center.
Gifted with CELESTRON CGEMDX 1400 HD telescope model with CGEPRO
monitoring and computing at distance. CELESTRON CGEMDX 1400 HD telescope
has an Edge HD optical system with high power amplification of light. Observer is
used for educational purposes to study the planets, sun, moon and other
constellations, and satellites, including astral phenomena.
There was performed the connection between Terrestrial Station, Astronomical
Observatory and Space Technology Center, a complex that will facilitate more
efficient the observation and identification of astral phenomena and artificial
satellites.
