JOB DESCRIPTION
1. Collects specimen for laboratory tests.
2. Analyze blood samples for chemical content and determine
concentrations of compounds such as blood glucose, cholesterol
levels, triglycerides, good and bad cholesterol, blood urea nitrogen,
creatinine,

blood

uric

acid,

and

analyze

blood

sample

for

immunological tests such as hepatitis B surface antigen.

3. Microscopically examine body fluids to help in the diagnosis and

treatment of diseases.
4. Prepares, stains and interprets slides for microscopic
examination of the morphological features of peripheral blood
smears.
5. Examines stool, skin scraping to determine the presence of
bacteria, fungi, parasites and other microorganisms.
6. Advises the Medical Doctor on the available tests in the
laboratory and give results for use in the diagnosis and treatment
of diseases.
7. Prepares monthly reports on the inventory of laboratory supplies,
test done, calibration and maintenance of laboratory equipment and
instrumentation.
8. Supervise and train newly hired Medical technologist and advise
them the rules and regulation of the laboratory.
9. Perform other duties as may be required:
Maintains quality assurance procedures undertaken in the
laboratory.

 Evaluate test results, develop and modify procedures, and

establish and monitor programs to ensure the accuracy of
tests.
