Use PAR model when talking about your experience:

P = Problem, challenge, responsibility or circumstance you faced

A = Action or approach you took to solve the problem
R = Results you obtained quantifiable and where possible in terms of Euro,
percentages, sales, cost savings or impact on colleague, team, business or
client
Once you have identified each part of the achievement, problem, action and
result you will then need to summarise it as an Accomplishment Statement.
Begin each accomplishment statement with an action verb for example:
developed, created, organised. By writing your accomplishment statements you
are effectively summarising your competencies and talents which enables you
to:.
Focus in on the specific key features of each achievement.
Reveal your key strengths and successes.
Present your achievements for each role when writing your CV and
LinkedIn profile.
Prepare for sharing examples (evidence) of your competencies and
talents at an interview.
Examples:Accomplishment Statements: The examples below are selected from a film
location managers achievements:-

1. (P Translated ideas from scripts)(A through working closely with

writer/producer team, creating a platform for open discussion and ideas (R
which resulted in innovative and viable location proposals)
2. (P Forecasted specific requirements of key stakeholders)(A planned logistics
and resolved any potential issues in advance) (R ensuring no conflict arose or
time was during actual filming)
EXAMPLE:
Step 1
General description of the achievement activity:-

Roughly write out the achievement you wish to work on; i.e. I had to work with
the script writers to fully understand their interpretation and ideas and I did this
by making myself available to fit in with their busy schedule and by building
good rapport with them, so that I could make sure my understanding of their
needs was correct. This was not always easy as some were difficult characters
with sometimes conflicting ideas or very challenging requirements. However, I

kept calm, encouraged open discussion and all of this helped me to build my
reputation for producing innovative and viable proposals.
When you have completed the first step above (which may not be necessary
once you get into the swing of the exercise) then break it down into the following
PARS steps
Step 2
Problem/Challenge/Task: find suitable film locations based on the writer script
and producer requirements.
Step 3
Action: spent time building rapport and really getting a true understanding of
writer/producer needs and using all my experience and communication skills to
create a workable plan
Step 4
Result: built a reputation for delivering viable and innovation location proposals
that were to the satisfaction of all concerned with the filming.

Step 5
Summarize as an Accomplishment Statement

STAR Interviewing Response Technique for Success in

Behavioral Job Interviews
One strategy for job-seekers preparing for behavioral interviews is to use the STAR Technique, as outlined
below. (This technique is often referred to as the SAR and PAR techniques as well.)

ituation or

Describe the situation that you were in or the task that you needed to
accomplish. You must describe a specific event or situation, not a
generalized description of what you have done in the past. Be sure to give
enough detail for the interviewer to understand. This situation can be from
a previous job, from a volunteer experience, or any relevant event.

ask

A
ction you took

esults you achieved

Describe the action you took and be sure to keep the focus on you. Even if
you are discussing a group project or effort, describe what you did -- not
the efforts of the team. Don't tell what you might do, tell what you did.
What happened? How did the event end? What did you accomplish? What did
you learn?

SHARE Model
A similar method to the STAR Method is the SHARE Model for responding to behavioral-based job interview
questions:
S -- Situation; describe a specific situation;
H -- Hinderances; identify any hindrances or challenges faced;
A -- Action; explain the action(s) you took in response;

R -- Results; discuss the results or outcomes from your action(s);

E -- Evaluate; explain and evaluate what you learned from the experience.
