Mariana, this is an awesome news! I noticed this link a week back and tried to register. It seems that
the registration can't accept Canadian pin code which contains alphanumeric characters. I can put
some dummy US pin code but not sure if it would be a good idea. Any suggestion?
Thanks,
Prateek Raj Srivastava

Hi Prateek,
Are you referring to the AWS account ID?

Any idea how much does the AWS usage cost on an average if we use this on cloud?
It's quite hard to predict the monthly cost of your AWS image as it depends on several
variables. Based on feedback from HANAs dev edition, the minimum monthly cost may be
around 14$ for an instance that you're not using at all. Depending on usage time and amount of
data you load, you can easily get into the several hundreds of dollars, if you don't shut down
your stack when you're not using it. What I know is that AWS provide all the data in the
management console and also send you frequent reports. So the basic advice would be to
watch your spend closely on a daily basis the first few days to get an idea of the long term
cost.
Cheers,
Mariana

Hi Mariana,
Loving my PO instance and the release of this was perfect timing for me. Thank you to everyone who
made this happen and hope it becomes a continual license like the general trend of developer
licenses...
Also, for those wanting to play with this in a corporate environment, I've started capturing how I got it
semi working at my place. This information can be found in this blog:

Hi Matt,
Many thanks for your valuable feedback.
As happy as you are to hear your thoughts! And thanks for taking the time to blog about your
experiences.

Shabarish,
AWS Charges $127 (approx.) for 50 Hrs usage a Month. As per the template for NWPO
It installs Amazon EC2 instance Windows 2008R2 SP1 Server and NetWeaver Process
Orchestration.

Hi Kalyan,
I whish I could provide you with a template, however it depends on how extensively you are going to
use the image. Please review the "How to monitor and control your AWS costs" section in this doc:

Kalyan,
Thise Value is hardcoded in template used for creating the stack. I would suggest to keep type as
'large'. It will make system slow if you change setting in template.

This is a great concept but I think the unknown variable pricing will be a barrier to people. I think
many developers will want to host their own without fear that their development could chew up a lot of
resources and then get a large surprise on their invoice.

Hey Aaron,
The AWS calculator should be used at start. It gives a pretty good estimation of the potential costs.
Thanks for your feedback about alternative images. Will relay to my colleagues.

Hi Sunil,
I thought that the AWS images would last after the 20 feb and then they will only provide a 90 day trial
period.
As I see this it is about installing a new platform.
Useful no doublt.

I noticed this was done for NetWeaver CE last summer. Going a step further for PO would be really
nice...
