Social Media. Love it? Loathe it? Either way, it demands our attention.
This little project aims to explore and raise questions about the
relationship between social media and art, through the lens of
Instagram.
The final piece features the pooling together of 100 photographs
currently being shared on Instagram by a colourful group of 25 local
people including: artists, photographers, teachers, students, travellers,
a musician, lawyer, customs ocer and youth worker.
Each image represents a snapshot of their own individual view of
Gibraltarian life, however together, they also paint a greater picture of
local identity, sense of belonging and growing hunger for creative
expression. The collective nature of the display also aims to symbolise
the connectedness of the internet and social media.
On a final note, the project aims to foreground discussions on how
social media is challenging traditional notions of art - what it is, and
what its meant to do.

the classroom as a passionate and vibrant educator.
How does social media challenge our traditional notions of art, and what its meant
to be and do?
Does it challenge our traditional notions of art? Is it making art more inclusive?
Accessible?

we need to broaden the notion of art, what is it and what its meant to do.
We dont need to look very far to hear about how its changing how we
communicate with each other, and more interestingly, how we interact with
strangers.
Art and photography only for the professionals, everyone and anyone can be an
artist. Instagram, Snap Chat. by art I mean being able to express themselves
aesthetically, images, touch and being able to share all of this, IMMIDIATELY.
Instant art! Where is art going? Becoming faster
