Pre-Listening

:
: 1. Show a composite picture a family just moved in and they are arranging the things at home
2. Guide pupils to talk about stimulus. Location of objects in the living room

While-listening : 1. Pupils listen to the text read out.


2. Pupils answer 6 fill in the blanks questions.
Post-listening

1. Pupils follow simple instructions.


2. In pairs, one of the pupils read out the location of the objects and the other pupil paste the
cut-out picture of objects on the task sheet (a bedroom plan).

e.g. The lamp is beside the bed.

READING LESSON

Steps
:
Pre-reading
: 1. Teacher shows and reads the road signs ( turn right / turn left / go straight / roundabout / junctions ) .
2. Talk about the directions to places around the neighbourhood.
While-reading : 1. Pupils read a text.
2. Pupils answer 6 "wh" questions based on the reading text.
Post-reading
: 1. In groups of 4, pupils discuss the directions to the playground / grocery / clinic / post office etc.
2. Pupils draw directions based on the group discussion.

Pre-writing

: 1. Teacher recaps the directions taught in the previous lesson.

Post-writing

1. Teacher provides another map and phrases to the pupils.


2. Pupils write a paragraph of 5 sentences on directions to places.

4. Pupils fill in the blanks with the correct prepositions above / below / beside.
5. Teacher places some realias around the classroom before the lesson day.
6. Pupils identify the location of realias using the prepositions.
7. Teacher gives pupils a task sheet.
8. Pupils write four sentences using the prepositions between and near.
