DAMAGE IN TRANSPORTATION
All packages should be closely examined at time of delivery. If damage is apparent write Damage
In Shipment on ALL copies of the freight or express bill BEFORE delivery is accepted or signed
for by a GE representative or hospital receiving agent. Whether noted or concealed, damage
MUST be reported to the carrier immediately upon discovery, or in any event, within 14 days after
receipt, and the contents and containers held for inspection by the carrier. A transportation
company will not pay a claim for damage if an inspection is not requested within this 14 day period.

CERTIFIED ELECTRICAL CONTRACTOR STATEMENT

All electrical Installations that are preliminary to positioning of the equipment at the site prepared
for the equipment shall be performed by licensed electrical contractors. In addition, electrical feeds
into the Power Distribution Unit shall be performed by licensed electrical contractors. Other
connections between pieces of electrical equipment, calibrations and testing shall be performed by
qualified GE Medical personnel. The products involved (and the accompanying electrical
installations) are highly sophisticated, and special engineering competence is required. In
performing all electrical work on these products, GE will use its own specially trained field
engineers. All of GEs electrical work on these products will comply with the requirements of the
applicable electrical codes.
The purchaser of GE equipment shall only utilize qualified personnel (i.e., GEs field engineers,
personnel of third-party service companies with equivalent training, or licensed electricians) to
perform electrical servicing on the equipment.
IMPORTANT...X-RAY PROTECTION
X-ray equipment if not properly used may cause injury. Accordingly, the instructions herein
contained should be thoroughly read and understood by everyone who will use the equipment
before you attempt to place this equipment in operation. The General Electric Company, Medical
Systems Group, will be glad to assist and cooperate in placing this equipment in use.
Although this apparatus incorporates a high degree of protection against x-radiation other than the
useful beam, no practical design of equipment can provide complete protection. Nor can any
practical design compel the operator to take adequate precautions to prevent the possibility of any
persons carelessly exposing themselves or others to radiation.
It is important that anyone having anything to do with x-radiation be properly trained and fully
acquainted with the recommendations of the National Council on Radiation Protection and
Measurements as published in NCRP Reports available from NCRP Publications, 7910 Woodmont
Avenue, Room 1016, Bethesda, Maryland 20814, and of the International Commission on
Radiation Protection, and take adequate steps to protect against injury.
The equipment is sold with the understanding that the General Electric Company, Medical Systems
Group, its agents, and representatives have no responsibility for injury or damage which may result
from improper use of the equipment.
Various protective materials and devices are available. It is urged that such materials or devices be
used.

This instruction describes the hardware installation procedure.

2 INSTALLATION
PROCEDURE
2.1 EXISTING MONITOR REMOVAL (IF THERE IS A MONITOR TO BE

REPLACED)
Understand and follow the Safety Guidelines Manual.
1.) Turn OFF the Operator Console main power.
2.) Turn OFF the breaker in the Power Distribution Box (hospital supply).
3.) Remove the OC Rear Cover.
4.) Disconnect the Signal and Power cables connected from the monitor to the OC.
5.) Remove the monitor from the OC (or OC table).
2.2
Monitor Connection
1.) Unpack the LCD monitor and place it on the OC.
2.) Route and connect the cables as below illustrations.
Note:
For each LCD Monitor we supply two different kinds of Signal Cables. Check the ports of the
Display Board before connecting the Signal Cables. Select proper Signal Cable to connect
the proper port on the LCD according to different ports of the Display Board.

a.) Connect the Power cable to the AC Power Supply Assy (or AC Box).
b.) Reinstall the Rear Cover.
c.) Connect the signal cable to the VSPL (Video Board).
d.) Reinstall the Rear Connector Cover.

OSD control buttons on the front of the monitor function as follows:
1.) Power on the LCD Medical Display.
2.) Press the "MENU" button to start the OSD feature.
3.) Press the ">" or "<" button to selection sub-menu items.
4.) Press the ">" or "<" button to increase/decrease adjustment.
5.) Press the "ENTER" button to access the function to be adjusted.
6.) To exit the OSD menu or go back to the previous action by clicking the "MENU" button. It will
save the change automatically.
7.) To repeat above steps for changing the setting of other functions.

Adjusts Gamma value.

Lock Mode Explain

MDC1900-1LG system default is Off mode.
LOCK
Off: Function keys are non-lock, press "Menu" key to start the OSD menu and you can
adjustment any functions.
Mode 1: All function keys are locked.
Mode 2: All function keys are locked unless brightness control. Press "Menu" key to start the
brightness control menu.
Operation step as follows:
1.) Press "Menu" key to start OSD freature.
2.) Select Setup Menu and press "Enter".

4.) Press "<" or ">" to select Lock Mode and press "Enter" will save the setting value
automatically.

5.) When you press any buttons on the front of the display that will shows message "OSD
locked" after setting Lock Mode complete and exit OSD feature.

Press left key "<" until display shows the message "Key unlocked", lock function will be remove.

When you in Mode 1 or Mode 2 and unlock after 15 minutes not adjustment any function, OSD
function will be lock automatically. Only setting in "Off" mode doesn't have this appearance.
Hot Key Controls

It can choose the best operation mode to offer to users. This product has offered the following
adjustment functions. The setting mode is not in OSD controls and single-click the hot key, can
start hot key function, as follows:
1.) Input Source Selection
Press "ENTER" button to select the input source.

VGA:Acquire analog signal from the D-sub connector.

DVI-A:Acquire analog signal from the DVI-I connector.
DVI-D:Acquire digital signal from the DVI-I connector.
2.) Mode item Selection
Press "<" (left) button, you can selecet color on the front of the screen of display.

User Mode: User identify the standard display operation.

DICOM Mode: System set the DICOM standard operation.
CL Mode: To imitate the display output color temperature of about 6500k.
BL Mode: To imitate the display output color temperature of about 9300k.
LB Mode: To imitate the operation for whitelight lampbox.

Contrast and Brightness Minor Adjustment

1.) Select Service Image Quality Install SMPTE image (To install the SMPTE image on
the system.)
2.) Click on ImageWorks
3.) Select "SMPTE" image in the Examination list.

4.) Click on Viewer to display the SMPTE pattern.
5.) Enlarge the SMPTE image to full screen display, using Display Routine Display Zoom.
If necessary, drag the Zoom slider to display the pattern to the full screen.

6.) Adjust Contrast and Brightness to the level an user desires so that a slight (not clear)
distinction should be made between 0% and 5% and between 95% and 100%.

7.) Also check if the patterns are properly displayed.

Function Check
1.) Perform Power On Self Test:
a.) Switch ON the main switch of the OC.
The test progress information is displayed on the monitor.
b.) Verify that the system starts up normally.
2.) Perform the normal test scannings and check that the images are normal.

1.) Complete and verify the site-specific information on the Red Product Locator Installation Card.
2.) Send the Product Locator Card to the appropriate address provided belowl:
- Address for GEMS-AM sites:

Send to the address Printed on the Product Locator Card.
- Address for GEMS-A sites:
Send to the local PLS or Service Administrator.
