INDUCTION TRAINING PROGRAMME PHASE-II

Mini Project
Dear Colleague,
This Induction Programme aims at developing basic teaching skills including those of
curriculum analysis, using advance teaching methods, designing question paper, design and
assessment of laboratory experiences and preparation and use of simple instructional media
among the newly recruited technical teachers of technical institutes.
In view of the above, the programme has been designed and developed by incorporating
structured syndicate tasks/group/individual assignments to accomplish the objectives by the
participating teacher.
You are requested to undertake all the syndicate tasks with lot of interest and vigour. The
output of all the tasks may please be submitted to Course Coordinator for evaluation and
certification.
About Mini Project
The Mini Project will involve the application and integration of the concepts and principles
of Educational Psychology and Technology learnt during the programme. The participants
will get an opportunity to put into practice their creative ideas. However, the faculty
members will provide necessary support and guidance.
The mini project will comprise the following major components:

The work on the mini project will start right from the 1st day of the programme and
continue until last day. The faculty team will guide and monitor the Mini project work.
Syndicate Tasks under the Mini Project
The following Syndicate Tasks including a number of activities under each one of them will
be accomplished under the Mini Project.

Syndicate Task I: Curriculum Review


Select a Subject/Course of your discipline and review the curriculum to identify the
gaps in the same.
Syndicate Task II: Curriculum Analysis
Select a Subject/Course of your discipline and analyse the curriculum to identify
units and various topics and subtopics in each unit.
Develop a unit plan on the basis of details of topics and sub-topics in the format
given in Annexure-I.
Syndicate Task III: Project Work
1. Prepare a list of titles for Project work (Major and Minor) in your subject area
and also decide the dimension/scope of the project work.
2. Please get these titles validated from peer teachers.
3. From the list of titles select a particular problem which can be undertaken as
Project.
4. Write major learning outcomes and frame objectives that can be achieved by
the student.
5. Suppose a group of students have chosen the project problem identified by
you. You have to guide this group of students. Prepare a step by step
guideline procedure for student as per format in Annexure II.
6. Justify why you have chosen this as a project problem.
Syndicate Task IV: Case Study
Identify a technical topic/sub-topic of your discipline and write a Technical Case
for discussion and problem solving by your student. Enrich your case study with
suitable data, graphs, diagrams, sketch, photographs etc.
Syndicate Task V: PBL and Group Discussion
Syndicate Task VI: Power Point Slides Presentation
Identify a Topic/Subtopic from your subject area.
Develop a Power Point Presentation of 15-20 slides to present the topic to
students in a class of 30 minimum duration.
Syndicate Task VII:
a. Preparing Specification Table
Prepare a Specification Table for a Subject/course (Refer the output of Syndicate
Task I on Curriculum Detailing) specifying the levels of cognitive domain
against each Units, Topic and Sub topic as per format given in Annexure III.
b. Developing Different types of Questions/Item
Select a Subject/course of your choice.
Prepare different types of Questions/Items pertaining to each Unit Topic/Sub
topic, as follows:

- Short answer type


- Multiple choice
- Structured/restricted response type
- Essay type
Specify the level of each question in cognitive domain.

c. Develop a Model Question Paper


Select a subject/course of your discipline
Develop a Model Question Paper, using specification table
Specify number of marks to each question, depending upon difficulty level of
the question.
Please get the model question paper validated through discussion with peer
group.
Syndicate Task VIII: Assessment of laboratory and project work
1.
Analyze Curriculum of your subject and identify laboratory experiments
to be undertaken by students. Prepare a unit plan for laboratory work. (as per
format given in Annexure IV)
2.
Design an innovative laboratory experience in the format given in
Annexure V.
3.
Design assessment scheme and tools for the laboratory experience
designed by you.
4.
Design assessment scheme for the project work outlined in syndicate
task III
Syndicate Task-IX of Mini Project submission

Arrange outputs of all Syndicate Tasks completed by you for submission.


Write your own observation and experiences while doing these tasks, what
learning that you have acquired by doing so, in what way it is going to benefit
you in days to come.
