Nick is an accomplished development change manager and a communications professional who
has spent the better part of his career managing change and formulating policies to ensure
effective project management policies.
Passionate about human development, Nick has used skills as a communications professional to
added skills as a project manager and a researcher all incorporated into a well rounded research

As a research consultant with special expertise in Monitoring and Evaluation, Nick has initiated
and undertaken several projects in East Africa including opinion surveys, needs assessments,
impact assessments, as well as monitoring and evaluation assignments. The uniqueness of the
assignments has necessitated designing peculiar research methodologies and analytical systems.
Besides research, Nick has a wide knowledge and has consulted in the following project
management & oversight, regional integration, EA business entry strategies, political parties
dialogue, mobilization & outreach, international relations and governance, SME capacity building
and resource mobilization.

Lead Consultant- Pharmacy Council of Tanzania Drug authentication survey through
mystery shopping-designed baseline for conducting a baseline survey to establish the
degree to which pharmacies practice malpractice-sell unauthorised drugs over the
counter
Oversaw and designed an election coverage protocol that enabled trouble free
coverage of the National Elections in Uganda. The elections were hotly contested but
got protocol signed by opposition and Government and that lowered the temperatures
with both parties taking part in live debates. I also got my teams to produce
programmes on the plight of children in especially difficult circumstances in Northern
Uganda and earned UNICEF awards for innovation for children 2009-2010. Started

Wavah FM radio targeting the marginalised Northern Uganda and parts of South Sudan.

Change manager in the role of General Manager, Abood Media Co. Ltd, where my
proposal for mitigating deaths of mothers and children under five due to easy to
manage health challenges were approved by Ms Management Sciences for Health. In an
area where health facilities are more than 50km apart, we got a grant through which I
designed an outreach project to teach mothers the danger signs and what options they
have to rescue their children from death where facilities are scarce and literacy level are
low. This project received overwhelming community support and is now being scaled up
countrywide due to its success when we piloted.
USAID STRADCOM Developed Outreach strategies for 3 radio stations, Radio Abood, Radio Imani and

Kings international with funds provided by USAID through Strategic Radio
2005=2008
Communications in Dar es Salaam. The project aimed at ensuring behaviour change in
the fight against new infections of HIV ,through what turned out to be popular Fataki
series of radio documentaries. Key to our success was the interactive sessions with
listeners and the established listener groups whom we provided Radios as incentives. I
was team leader for the project.

Team evaluator MEDIA MONITORING Programme TANZANIA ELECTIONS. Working as
EU
PROJECT MANAGER of East Africa Radio, I was incorporated in the EU monitoring team.

My responsibility was to listen to Radios and watch TV news coverage in the preelection, during the elections and post elections coverage . I would report on the
quantitative and qualitative aspects of the coverage of the elections which saw people
flee Pemba to refugee status in Kenya and some to Somalia, a testament to the tenuous
situation during those elections.

1997 UNHCR

Training of UNCHR staff on Media Management skills. I drew up a short-term training


curriculum for UNHCR staff and affiliate NGOs handling refuges to impart to them
necessary media management skills to enable them apply such skills to mitigate the
case of refugees.
