A STUDY OF HAVELLS CFL LIGHTING PRODUCTS
FOCUSING ON MALAPPURAM DISTRICT

INTRODUCTION
The worldwide electric power industry provides a vital service essential to modern life. It
provides the nation with the most prevalent energy form known in historyelectricity.
Lighting products and Havells go hand in hand. Havells is a leading lighting equipment
manufacturer in India. It owns some of the most prestigious global brands. The main aim of
Havells is to provide best electrical & lighting solutions and to be a globally recognized firm.
Havells focus in this segment has always been on energy efficient lighting. Starting with the
Compact Fluorescent Lighting (CFL) products, the Company has gone on to add Light Emitting
Diode (LED) products to its portfolio over the last few years. Besides the primary sources of
lighting, the segment also encompasses luminaries or fixtures supporting hardware needed for
arrangement of lighting source to achieve better aesthetic effect. The demand for LED-based
lighting is set to grow rapidly in India over the next few years, thanks to the significant energy
saving they offer compared to other types of lighting. For households, CFLs still remain the
preferred choice but the commercial segment is witnessing increasing use of LEDs. The cost of
LEDs has come down significantly globally making it viable to use in more and more
applications.
This project is undertaken to understand the customers perception about Havells CFL lighting
products and to know the factors which will affect the perception of the customers about the
product. With high market competition in the lighting equipment industry, most of the companies
compete with each other through price, heavy advertising, superior product quality and enhanced
customer service to ensure consumers satisfaction towards their lighting equipment.
Characteristics such as durability, serviceability, performance, usability etc. also significantly
affect how customers view the primary product. This study will attempt to focus on how
customers perceive Havells equipment on the basis of the above mentioned product attributes.

OBJECTIVES OF THE STUDY

To understand customers perception about Havells CFL lighting products.


To study the factors which influence the customer perception towards lighting
products.
To identify the most successful factor of HAVELLS lighting products which
positively influenced customers perception
To study the awareness about HAVELLS lighting products in customers.

SCOPE OF THE STUDY


The result of this research would help the company to have a better understanding
about the customers perception towards HAVELLS LIGHTING PRODUCTS
This project will help to identify the factors which plays an important role in the
customers perception about HAVELLS products
The study enables the company to focus on the customers preferences and expectations
on the product which they offer

NEED OF THE STUDY


The main need for this project is to evaluate the impact of price, promotion and
factors on the customer perception about the products.

LIMITATION OF THE STUDY

Time and money is the main limitation of the research. Since the research is
conducted by one person the time limit of two months is a limitation.
The number of respondents is small so the result cannot be generalized.
The research is limited to customers of malappuram district only
All the factors of this topic are not being analyzed so that can be taken as another
limitation.
