Video Business Case Report Part1

Vishay Intertechnology Asia (Vishay) is one of the largest electronic components


manufacturers in the world. Vishay was founded by Dr. Felix Zandman in 1962. Vishays
goal is to exceed expectation of our customer (Vishay Intertechnology, Inc: Company
Overview 2012). Vishay differentiate them by focus on technology, which is also known
as niche differentiators strategy. This differentiation has lead Vishay to stand in a winner
place.
In order to make Vishay more competitive, they need always work with their
motto build Vishay into your design (Vishay: Build Vishay into your Design 2013)
Better design will bring Vishay to be a top leader within electronic industry. Vishays goal
is about to fulfill all the expectation of customer, which is for the purpose of gaining
market share and build Vishay to be a winner within electronic components industry
(Vishay Intertechnology, Inc 2013).
Currently, Vishay is facing an important issue on how to support the rapid growth
in Asia (Vishay Intertechnology Asia - Case: Background 2012). Vishay realised that Asia
will become the highest market shares in this worldwide electronic components
manufacturer industry compared to Europe and North America. In addition, Vishay will
face another issue over next few years, which is pricing competition in Asia (Vishay
Intertechnology Asia - Case: Background 2012).
First, the main cause of the issue is because most of the functions associated with
electronics manufacturing are done in Asia; and even some of the companies move their
manufacturing to Asia in order to increase their competitiveness (Vishay Intertechnology
Asia - Case: Background 2012). This is because most of the companies want to reduce
their cost by enjoying low labour cost in Asia.
Moreover, the importance of the issue being critiqued is because it will lead to
loss of market share of Vishay. Thus, Vishay need to make decisions immediately to
support the rapid growth in Asia. If their market share was affected, their profit will also
be affected. Besides, as the demand is increasing, Vishay should take this opportunity to
increase their profit and maximise shareholders value. At the same time, good financial
performance will attract shareholders to invest in Vishay.
In conclusion, Vishay must make a decision to overcome the issue of rapid
expand in Asia and pricing competition to maintain or increase Vishays market share in
Asia and maximise profit as well. Therefore, Vishay need to keep pace and understand
technology requirement in Asia. Apart from these issues, when Vishay support the rapid
growth better working environment is required to employees.
