Abstract of the Idea(300-500 Words)


With the growing number of telecom users and their varied
preferences, telecom service providers are facing the problem of customer
retention. There are a number of telecom providers but none of them can wholly
satisfy all their customer preferences. Enhancing customer experience by
customization has become the need of the day. Analyzing customer usage behavior,
identifying the Individual and group consumption patterns using data analytics and
providing customer specific solutions would solve the problem faced.
The idea is to find patterns in user Call behavior (Local, STD, ISD,
and Roaming), Message (SMS, MMS), Internet (2G, 3G) and IVRS usage. Trends like
Time of the day & Seasonal behavioral patterns also have to be taken into account.
With customer preferences in mind, we would like to provide customer with
customized nested plan options with optimal pricing solutions using customer care
interface.

A. What is the problem it aims to solve? Any supporting evidence that this exists
The problem that it helps in solving is giving the telecom users their preferred
choice and customer experience by analyzing the usage pattern of the
customers through data analytics.
Some service providers like airtel, vodafone are providing this kind of
customer preference but the limitation in this service is that they tend to
analyze only specific pattern but not the overall pattern.

B. What is the concept ? Proposed Ideas/Solutions


Simple algorithm using data analytics is used in delivering the solutions to
the problem. The idea
proposed is to use big data to analyze consumption
patterns of the customer.

C. Criteria used to compare solutions


The criteria used to compare the solution is usage of different plans by the
customer provided by the telecom operator which already exist in their
package. The average waiting time by a customer to talk to the customer
care representative can be taken into account. The time taken for the user to
select desired option through IVRS can be the criteria to compare the existing
solution and the proposed customized solution of IVRS.

D. Why is your solutions best and what impact will it create
The Unique selling proposition of this idea is it enriches user experience
through enhanced customization, gives the best and unique feature for the
particular customer there by increasing the customer satisfaction. With high
number of telecom providers providing different features to the customers
and changing loyalty of the customer are the growing concerns which impact
the customer retention to a great extent. The one who captures this problem
and uses the scenario of data analytics to analyze the customer requirements
and providing them the required preferences will emerge as a leader in the
industry.

E. What are the tradeoffs , uncertainties, and risks of the proposed


idea/Solutions
The tradeoffs in this project is the cost involved in the development of the
solution, the already less operating margin of the telecom operators may
hamper to some extent for this solution. The uncertainty involved is very less
as the criteria we are taking to develop the solution is the data of the
customer preferences which is factual data. There may be a some deviation
in this because of the new preference change in the customer. The risk
involved is the heavy work load in implementing the customer
