Market Commentary

2012

The NSE ALSI declined 1.2% to close the week at 32,739.1 on the back of losses in Access Bank (-10.9%),
Mansard Insurance (-8.8%) and Stanbic IBTC Holdings (-7.6%). During the week, gains were recorded in
Ashaka Cement (+4.7%), Presco (+4.5%) and Forte Oil (+4.4%). The top traders by value were Julius
Berger (USD 33.3m), Zenith Bank (USD 18.2m) and Nigerian Breweries (USD 11.4m). Trading in these
shares accounted for 52.8% of this weeks turnover of NGN 23.7bn (USD 119.0m). The average weekly
value traded in the last six months is NGN 20.3bn (USD 102.1m). The NSE ALSI is down 5.5% ytd (-13.2%
USD) and the total market capitalisation is currently USD 53.3bn.

The GSE Composite declined 1.2% to close the week at 2,342.8 on the back of losses in HFC Bank (-7.0%),
Ecobank Ghana (-2.7%) and Stanchart Ghana (-2.1%). During the week, gains were recorded in Ghana Oil
(+2.8%). The top traders by value were CAL Bank (USD 119.4k), Fan Milk (USD 22.8k) and Ecobank Ghana
(USD 15.9k). Trading in these shares accounted for 74.9% of this weeks turnover of GHS 925.1k (USD
211.0k). The average weekly value traded in the last six months is GHS 4.2m (USD 960.6k). The GSE
Composite is up 3.6% ytd (-23.4% USD) and the total market capitalisation is currently USD 4.1bn.

The IC Composite gained 1.4% to close the week at 278.6 on the back of gains in Servair Abidjan (+18.7%),
Bollore Africa Logistics CI (+15.5%) and CIE (+6.8%). During the week, losses were recorded in Unilever
CI (-13.3%), Tractafric Motors CI (-11.9%) and Total CI (-10.9%). The top traders by value were Sonatel SN
(USD 1.2m), ETI (BRVM) (USD 0.3m) and Onatel BF (USD 0.2m). Trading in these shares accounted for

Kenya Airways (+9.0%) and BAT (Kenya) (+7.3%). The top traders by value were Equity Bank (USD 80.7m),

The DSE ALSI declined 4.9% to close the week at 2,664.7 on the back of losses in CRDB Bank (-4.8%),
NMB (-0.9%) and TWIGA (-0.9%). During the week, gains were recorded in TOL (+0.8%). The top traders by
value were Tanzania Breweries (USD 7.2m), CRDB Bank (USD 1.5m) and DCB (USD 0.1m). Trading in
these shares accounted for 98.4% of this weeks turnover of TZS 19.2bn (USD 9.0m). The average weekly
value traded in the last six months is TZS 22.5bn (USD 11.3m). The DSE ALSI is up 5.8% ytd (-8.0% USD)

The SEMDEX declined 1.0% to close the week at 1,966.2 on the back of losses in Vivo Energy (-4.5%),
Alteo LTD (-4.1%) and New Mauritius Hotels (-3.4%). During the week, gains were recorded in Phoenix
Beverages (+10.8%), ENL Land (+4.6%) and Fincorp (+2.0%). The top traders by value were State Bank

2012

The EGX 30 declined 1.1% to close the week at 8,314.7 on the back of losses in Citadel Capital (-4.4%),
Lecico Egypt (-3.8%) and Ghabbour Auto (-3.8%). During the week, gains were recorded in Arab Cotton
Ginning (+11.4%), National Development Bank (+3.7%) and Orascom Telecom M&T (+3.5%). The top
traders by value were CIB Egypt (USD 58.3m), TMG Holding (USD 15.4m) and Orascom Telecom M&T
(USD 14.3m). Trading in these shares accounted for 43.6% of this weeks turnover of EGP 1.5bn (USD
