Facts That May Not Be True About Car Insurance

Deciding to get my car insured was a big decision that took a lot of time to make.
Some of the insurance companies are known to drive the price up extremely high,
and I didnt want to take it up, unless there was an extremely good reason to do it.
Undeniably, being insured can protect you from plenty of things you may not have
expected, yet you have no control over. Getting the right type of insurance can be
tricky if you are a first timer, and if you are not particularly familiar with what an
insurance entails.

1. Even your cars color may affect the price

The first rule to getting a good type of insurance is to never completely believe
what others may say. As I was skeptical at first, I decided to ask my friends whether
or not this would be a good idea. What they told me made me seriously rethink the
entire step, because I was told that I would have to pay higher insurance rates if my
car was red. Knowing nothing about insurance at that time, I was ready to believe
that it was possible. The truth is that the insurance company will be interested into
the details of your car, and there will be factors related to it that may affect the
price, but they have nothing to do with the color.

2. They dont check your credit history

One of the main reasons I was highly against getting insured is because I wasnt
sure whether or not the insurance companies going to price my rates unfairly. Since
you will be giving them your information, quite possibly including your credit card
details, they will have access to your credit history. I have it on good authority that
charging insurance rates, based on the credit history of the client, is illegal, but that
doesnt mean that there wont be insurers who wont tamper with it. There really
isnt any form of protection against this, which just means that you may have to
look and compare until you find the perfect insurance plan for you.

3. If you let someone drive your car, their insurance will

cover any damage
After becoming familiarized with the details of my insurance, I decided to think
twice before I let anyone borrow my car. It turns out that, even if the person whom I
allowed to use my car has the same type of insurance, in case of an accident, the
policy covering my car takes supremacy and my insurance may cover the damage
expenses. While there is nothing wrong with that at first glance, having someone
damage your car, and then having your insurance company pay for it, only means
that the annual price of your insurance is going to go up.

Ask the insurance company and clear it all up

I decided that the best way to inform myself about the insurance, would be to ask
the insuring company about any details I would like cleared up. So, if you want to
avoid stress and endless contemplations, go straight to an insurance company.
Dont make assumptions, dont believe everything you hear, to save yourself time
and decide if this is really something you need, go ahead and ask an insurance
agent about anything that may be of interest to you.
