    Maintenancebypass
    Controlbypass

    ANALYSIS (#)forwhereyoushouldinstalledbypassacrossshutdownvalves.
    Itistobenotedthatanyshutdownvalveatwhateverlineitisinstalleddoesnothavemuchpressuredifferenceacrossit
    whenitisinopenconditionbutitwillexperienceappreciablepressuredifferenceonlywhenvalvewillbeinclosed
    position.
    Actuatoronshutdownvalvewillbesizedonbasisoftorquerequiredtoovercomethispressuredifferencetoopenthe
    valveagainwhenshutdownreasonistakencareof.
    Ifpressuredifferenceacrossshutdownvalveismorethansizeofactuatorwillbelargeandviceversa.Butsometime
    withlargesizevalvewhichishavinghighpressuredifferenceacrosstheminclosedconditionactuatorsizerequired
    becomeverylarge.
    Thusinordertoavoidusageofverylargesizeactuatoraverysmallsizebypassnormally2"or3"isinstalledacross
    valve.Thisbypassequalizesupstreamanddownstreampressureandreducedifferentialpressureacrossvalveandhelp
    inreducingsizeofactuator.
    So,fromabovewecanconcludethatbypassofshutdownvalveisnotrequiredunlessreductioninsizeofactuatorisrequired.
    SometimeInstallationoflargesizeactuatorsarenotpossibleduetospacerestrictionasatoffshoreplatformswherespaceis
    themostCOSTLY (#)item.
